Any chance of doing some low end VR testing without an eGPU attached? There have been some videos online showing Quest2 natively running Half Life:Alyx and Beat Saber, along with ROG Ally running Half Life:Alyx and other games without eGPU and Quest2 attached. I'm very curious to see how well this APU compares when running those VR titles and others at low settings.
One thing I'd like to suggest as additional games to test is Halo the master chief collection. You've got a wide range of graphical fidelity to work with across the 5 games and would be a great data point.

I watched another video comparing the UM690 vs UM790 16GB o Ram and a Beelink MiniPC that have the 780M iGPU and 32 GB of Ram.... it looks like the 32 GB of Ram gives you more performance in most/all games (around 15-20% more than the UM790 with 16gb of Ram)... Thank you
I mentioned it on the previous video but if you have the time I'd like to see this with at highest settings on a high end graphics card over the m.2 oculink adapter. I'm curious to see if the cpu would be the bottleneck in that scenario as it seems the 780m igpu is the bottleneck in this video.
@ETAPRIME It would be nice to see you do a test on this unit with 64 GB DDR5 to see the fps count. I'm guessing it will be higher. I will receive my UM790 Pro with 64 GB ram tomorrow.

I will gladly sacrifice CPU power (which doesn’t really matter due to the m.2 bottleneck and the fact that the 7900 is overkill even without the bottleneck)
Note that Minisforum does not honor warranty unless you bought directly from them. If you bought new from another store they tell you to deal with that store instead, past the return timeframe. Kinda shitty.
dumb question, how do you get ryzen tdp controls to work on ChimeraOS? I've tried installing it but get a bunch of errors and I cant find any tutorials on it :/
Still need someone to explain to me why not just pay 800 for a low, mid gaming laptop and run most of these games on high/medium together with a screen, keyboard, camera and touch pad.
Next update to the kernel of Chimera should net a performance boost to these APUs on Linux. Put performance on par with Windows (as is on the Deck). You should try to either get some 6000 MT/s Memory modules or try to overclock your memory. This APU with LPDDR5 at 7500 would be an even stronger beast. After getting the memory as high as I could I would next OC the GPU. As far as game settings go, cyberpunk's FSR implementation is great. You can get better overall visual quality with FSR on and tweaking graphics up. I don't think raytracing is even enabled there yet but obviously wouldn't recomend it. A nice trick to use on the deck when connected to a 1080p display is to render at 1080p but keep in game resolution at 900p. Using the built in FSR upscaler, it looks good. And then you can use in game FSR as well. Heck, you can probably habe a very PS4 Pro experience with this chip by setting the render resolution to 4k and the in game resolution to 1080p. This is more interesting than just seeing settings on low imho. Also, put up a graphic with all these results.
steam os "chimera" it's taking ages to load a game from the moment you press Play until the game starts.. around 2-3 minutes if you're lucky. i prefer Windows with Steam Desktop mode .. games running faster
Don't make the mistake and buy a PC from Minisforum! I made this mistake and I regret it. Forget their two year warranty. When you have a problem, you can deal with Chinese support. You write them: My power supply is broken and they answer: "Please send us a video of your monitor not connecting
In 2023 i can't imagine gaming on anything less than 1440p for a full size monitor or TV. 1080p looks good on small handheld screens, but blurry to me on anything bigger than a handheld. High fps or not...
you are clearly not their marketing target. it specifically for those who has not enough space in their house and to put it simple, you just need to mount it to your monitor and done. clean desk set-up.
Could you please start putting some other data in these videos just besides how this particular unit runs? This is kind of absurd. EVERY OTHER VIDEO you're claiming something to be the fastest so far... Useless. Pin a comment. Put up links to comparable units you reviewed. PLEASE DO SOMETHING MORE USEFUL. Your content is good, but getting to be pointless because of this shortcoming.
Not to mention click bait lie titles. Everyone wants SteamOS for these computers but settles for crappy knockoffs like Chimera… yet he titles the video as if he’s not even using Chimera. From clickbait annoyance graduating to lying moronic bullsht.
So, I'm unsubscribing because it seems like every other day you release a video about a different piece of hardware that is the new "fastest, best, most extreme, highest performing, best value" thing. And when everything is super... Nothing is. I'm disillusioned to your news and reviews. What's the point of learning about this mini PC when I know you'll review the next best mini PC in 2 weeks?
Imagine..... Going into the tech world and thinking it's not a super fast paced environment when 50 years ago we couldn't even imagine half the shit we have.....
@@AMV_KINGDOM_mvI think I understand his critique. He tends to not compare his performance results with other devices. Tends to like everything. Reminds me of zeos who is also a person that's pretty positive about almost everything. In fact it's a major problem in UA-cam in general, creators have a financial interest in maintaining happy relationships with partners. So they're reluctant to be critical. No I'm not unfollowing or anything cuz I still get some value from the channel. It can showcase a product and then I can go look for more critical reviews elsewhere. But I do understand. This isn't really a review channel, it's just a showcase channel. It's more like the home shopping network that it is like a genuine review.

Or he could have mentioned that once you factor in the keyboard you're at the same price point as an open box Lenovo duet 5.... At least give us some comparisons and some options. Instead it's just basically an overall recommendation to buy. The closest thing he had to a comparison was to "no this isn't as powerful as the Galaxy tablets...” . But that is so surface level that it's only useful to people that are basically looking up a review on a tablet for the first time ever. I'm only pointing out that example bc it was fairly recent.. And I'm sure that the same critique would probably be made in this video. Is he comparing it to other similarly priced items and weighing pros and cons? Or is he just giving a pretty surface level showcase about the cool things that it can do?

steam os can install and use well for all cpu and core gpu?
Still need someone to explain to me why not just pay 800 for a low, mid gaming laptop and run most of these games on high/medium together with a screen, keyboard, camera and touch pad.
is there a graphic driver for 780M for linux ?
Can you test some high end emulation tnx😊
steam os "chimera" it's taking ages to load a game from the moment you press Play until the game starts.. around 2-3 minutes if you're lucky. i prefer Windows with Steam Desktop mode .. games running faster
have u tried holoiso? I believe it has decky and FSR compatibility etc like the deck.
Don't try that, it is made by russian who support putin and the war against Ukraine.
Any idea what it weighs?
Catching you early lols
How much fps would Rust get on this thing?
can this emulate nitendo switch games?
This one is almost the best they have tested lol
Where to get this WAVING CAT !!!???
same question
can you do MK1 PLEASE PLEASE
Don't make the mistake and buy a PC from Minisforum! I made this mistake and I regret it. Forget their two year warranty. When you have a problem, you can deal with Chinese support. You write them: My power supply is broken and they answer: "Please send us a video of your monitor not connecting
No offence but it's hard to believe you considering your name
See I want a steam deck but can't get them.....don't want this lol
I wonder if it will run Starfield
720p low
6k ram instead of 5600 and it is even better ...
there are currently no 6000MT/s ram sticks in so-dimm form-factor. Soldered ram (LPDDR5(x)) can be faster but has its own set of limitations.
@@zbrkesbris5987 I am quite sure ETA_PRIME has some tests with 6k ram on AMD APUs ... no clue if OCed but definitely 6k ram ...
In 2023 i can't imagine gaming on anything less than 1440p for a full size monitor or TV. 1080p looks good on small handheld screens, but blurry to me on anything bigger than a handheld. High fps or not...
DDR55
why buy a mini computer over a laptop?
you are clearly not their marketing target.
it specifically for those who has not enough space in their house and to put it simple, you just need to mount it to your monitor and done. clean desk set-up.
Glad you are finding uses for steamos now that the steam deck is dead.
WTH? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
steam os is not all that great, at least it wasn't I had a steam machine back in 2016 and it was meh, not great support

Y’all complain too much. It ain’t your channel.
Unsubbed had a enough of Spamming my feed.
LOL
Imagine..... Going into the tech world and thinking it's not a super fast paced environment when 50 years ago we couldn't even imagine half the shit we have.....
I'm not unsubscribing, but.... I think the same xD
@@AMV_KINGDOM_mvfor instance the fire tablet 11 in. He could have mentioned that you can get the fire 10 which has the same chipset and the same amount of RAM -- and a headphone jack -- for $80 instead of spending $220 for a product that just has an extra inch of screen real estate.
Slower than windows by 10+ frames a second? Why do you continue to work on these Linux Gaming PC videos? You're a free man so do as you please but I'm done watching these.
🤔
What is event the point of Linux gaming?
this was intended to run windows, Dont buy this useles device, every time i quit a heavy app in windows it just freezes , i tried everything and read all the forums… worst device ever
Wutanglan 😅😅😅
