As a Mortgage Broker with 25 years experience I must say it’s not a black or white thing when it came to ripping off customers it was more educated vs uneducated. I was able to buy 3 houses and 8 cars throughout the years by dealing with guys like Esso who basically had no clue what was going on but had some money and wanted a mortgage. We’d mark these guys up 4-6 points on a loan and at the end of the day they were happy they got a house. The in house term for those type of people was Canadian and the objective when dealing with the Canadians was to make as much money for yourself as possible because they’ll never be able to figure out what’s really going on because they weren’t sophisticated enough to comprehend how the process worked. It was sad because everyone knew that some of the loans were so bad it would be a matter of time before the houses would be eventually foreclosed but nobody cared because we already were paid. Some of the guys intentionally got Canadians into bad deals just to eventually line up that person to have their home foreclosed knowing that they could eventually purchase the distressed homes for themselves.

When Donald Trump and his company was sued for housing and racial discrimination and the justice to department was the plaintiff in the suit they had sent two employees/lawyer from the civil rights division based suspect racism, unprofessional and the like. Both ladies presented similar information bank records, socials, occupations to trump reality company, they where both shown apartment in trump tower or whatever the building was on the some day the white lady got a call back the some day and the black lady didn't both reported back to DOJ and charges/ suit was bought against trump he lose and had to give a huge settlement.
