The way I remove some glued in "backlight paper" on some repairs I've done is by using a hairdryer on a "warm" or really low temperature setting to attempt to somewhat loosen the adhesive. The air temperature should be low enough to loosen the adhesive, yet leave the paper in tact without being burned. The situations I've had no luck with is when the adhesive is like a "super glue." Hey bigdog, my Samsung TV out of nowhere the left side is darker than the other part of the TV. I have alot of pets, so could it be dirty tcon connectors?
My TCL 65" (65S450G-CA) died today while watching. The screen slowly went dim and now it's black. The backlight works, sound works, no menu's will show. TCL said do a factory reset - but we can't see the pin it tells us to input when trying it (and that's doing it blind watching a video). I don't know what to do.
You can try the t-con. But these are known for bad Screens too. May have to try the tape method if you still get the same problem with a new t-con board.
Are all led strips are the same for every tv ? I'm trying to look for a phillips leds but can't find them .oh by the way your video is awesome 👌. I had a couple of screws left but it was all good the tv is working 😅.
Again! All that for a few stinking bulbs. Wonder how old the TV is. Best to replace em all like I did on the 39" Insignia. Something went wrong with quality control via mass production.
I have this same model. The bottom light flashes once every 2 seconds. The light wouldn’t react to the remote (the remote works), there’s no sound, and no picture. What do I do?
I used a normal flashlight to see if I saw a picture but didn’t see anything. (Ion know if a normal flashlight works for that tho). A week before this problem, whenever I turned in on it would turn on for a bit and then turn back off. (or it was the picture that went off). It would stay off for a few minutes, but it had sound. It would work normally after like 5-10 minutes. Now it doesn’t have sound or picture, nor does it react to a remote. That’s just a bit of backstory just incase it was important
Hi BigDog, I do enjoy your video's always great info. I've done several tcl 65" the one I have now is kinda weird. Both the right, left side have backlight bleed. I've checked to make sure all was put back together the same. Let me know if you have any tips or remedies.
Subbed, good videos! I got a tcl 75s423 picture and sound no backlight. Already took it apart but I got no led tester, tried to test each led individually with 3v but I think each led needs more voltage to light up. Do you know what safe voltage I can test each led with? Each strip showed 135v for 7 led strip.
@@bigdog8882 i purchased a led tester. Seems like 90% of the leds are shot. There are 12 rows of led strips with 7 leds on each strip. I waz reading 135v on led wires black/red. Isn't that too much or is it reading return total 135v all rows? I'm a noob on tv repair just trying to fix this to use it for myself I got it for 40 bucks. Another question, I have a 60 inch Samsung with broken screen. Could I rig the power supply with leds into the 75 inch tcl?
Hey bro I have the same model as this, when I shine a flash light into the screen I can’t see any apps but you could. The volume works, I see the little box flash then fades back out. But when I turn the tv on it instantly flashes on the bottom left corner then it’s a black screen is that point to the strips?
Maybe someone will know. I have a 65" TCL with new edge backlight fitted. The backlight works fine on the backlight tester, but the power supply does not give a power to the backlight. It does give 24V to the mainboard and t-con. So, I've checked and on the backlight ON is 3.3V, when I take it to zero, no change, but the processor is getting warm and t-con with it. If I use my backlight tester, I see the TCL logo and TV is powering ON. How can I make sure that the PWM controller is not switching ON or is faulty in the power supply and that's no other fault? I've got 2nd power supply and is the same thing.
my tv (TCL 55") is doing something similar, but if i do enough system restarts it will eventually come on and display normally...but once i power it off i have the same issue again and i have to system restart until it comes back on (after many hours) the sound and everything works just black screen...would the LEDs be my issue even though after multiple restarts it eventually comes back on?
Not sure, but the temperature sensitivity could plausibly be a capacitor problem. When a capacitor goes bad it's ESR increases dramatically above spec. However, ESR will decrease when a capacitor heats up. As a result, there's a window of time where a capacitor will no longer function adequately when it's cold, but works better after it warms up. Eventually the cap gets bad enough that warming it up will no longer make it work. Most components don't work better when they get warmer, but dying capacitors sometimes act that way.
I ordered the led strips from Amazon, replaced them and the T.v works again. Thank you sir, god bless you. Cost me $35. I paid $600 5 years ago for the tv.

Amazon or ebay, they come inside of a small tool kit usually.
We're can I order the led at have same tv and pic when our
Subbed, good videos! I got a tcl 75s423 picture and sound no backlight. Already took it apart but I got no led tester, tried to test each led individually with 3v but I think each led needs more voltage to light up. Do you know what safe voltage I can test each led with? Each strip showed 135v for 7 led strip.
Not sure, depends on the model TV. I would just purchase an led tester.
Quick question about the replacement led lights, do you recommend getting TCL brand or is unbranded okay?
Any, as long as there NEW.
Yea this was not the easy fix I was looking for. He is obviously very knowledgeable though. Great video but not doable for my limited experience.
Hey bro I have the same model as this, when I shine a flash light into the screen I can’t see any apps but you could. The volume works, I see the little box flash then fades back out. But when I turn the tv on it instantly flashes on the bottom left corner then it’s a black screen is that point to the strips?
Yeap

@@bigdog8882 please how can I get the backlight led and how can I know the number because my tv is the same like the one you just fix thank you
Maybe someone will know.
I've got 2nd power supply and is the same thing.
whats the voltage across each of the four led connection at the socket, may I know.
Not exactly sure.

Is this a 4K tv?
my tv (TCL 55") is doing something similar, but if i do enough system restarts it will eventually come on and display normally...but once i power it off i have the same issue again and i have to system restart until it comes back on (after many hours)
the sound and everything works just black screen...would the LEDs be my issue even though after multiple restarts it eventually comes back on?

Not sure, but the temperature sensitivity could plausibly be a capacitor problem. When a capacitor goes bad it's ESR increases dramatically above spec. However, ESR will decrease when a capacitor heats up. As a result, there's a window of time where a capacitor will no longer function adequately when it's cold, but works better after it warms up. Eventually the cap gets bad enough that warming it up will no longer make it work.
Most components don't work better when they get warmer, but dying capacitors sometimes act that way.
I have same problem you fixed????
@@atr3v1d087 sadly no, it wasn't a backlight problem, seems the panel went bad and i couldn't find a replacement
I hate my TCL because it gets super hot especially summertime I have small room I’m so over tcl already
