I've seen several people talk about the cliff needing two successful Athletic rolls to get down, but it's only ten feet tall. A success gets you down five feet. Ten feet is the minimum distance you'd need to fall to take damage; if you've made any progress down at all, you can just hop down the rest.
Exactly, I think the book is making an exception to walk beginners through the mechanics but it really feels like an unnecessary way to go about that, at least to me
Thank you for this great video. I like how you explained everything for a beginner like me. Simple to understand, but complex enough to crunch on. Thanks again!
Fantastic video! Some of the best explanations I've ever seen for how to help new players really understand the game. I'm taking notes and I'm going to be using so much stuff you said to help me run this adventure for new players.
so glad I found your videos! I'm going to run the Pathfinder starter box with 3 people who have never played a TTRPG before. I found your videos really useful!
@@RdotDoyle I COMPLETELY MISSED IT. I’m so sorry! I’m trying to prep my first thing of pf2e while with a fever. I probably looked directly at it while looking through your channel
Yeah it’s a time of transition for Paizo, I wonder if they’ll revise this or come out with a new one. It is a great little dungeon so if they do cook up something new I’ll bet we see this back in some form
@@RdotDoyle my same worry is for kingmaker 2e. Since a lot of these modules reference the core rule book and other core material with page numbers does that mean we're not going to see reprinting of some of these APs?? So I bought me some kingmaker 2e stuff
Great video, Ryan! It's very useful for newcomers like me. Today I am going to run this adventure for my friends. Any advice on how should I adapt this adventure for 3 PCs? In the crypt, for example, should I just remove one skeleton and keep the other creature's stats untouched? And what about the spider? Do you think I should change its stats to weak? I feel like it will become too weak if I do that.
Hey, glad your enjoying the videos and hope this reply is in time to be helpful. I could do a whole video on adjusting encounters but it’s always easier to say “another skeleton rises up or stumbles out” a round or two into a battle that’s going way too fast than it is to take away a monster because the party’s about to wipe out. As you gain experience it will come easily but at first my best, quick advice is to watch the action economy: the side with more actions has a big advantage so whenever the player characters are outnumbered they could be in trouble
I find that learning pathfinder is very frustrating. Even in the revamped core books its nearly impossible to quickly find anything. Perfect example ""attack of opportunity".
Attack of Opportunity was renamed Reactive Strike in the remaster to distance PF2e from the OGL. Archives of Nethys has Legacy and Remaster content though, so you still can find it under the old name. I find just googling "______ pf2e" will give me the correct AoN page 99% of the time. Unlike the search feature on AoN itself.
Thanks for this - very useful. Sounds like your 5e players meta-gamed in the wrong direction. Because so few enemies have attacks of opportunity in PF2, their characters would assume that no one has it, not that everyone does.
Glad you find it useful. And yeah, that is exactly what happened. They were trying not to meta-game in the moment but it's not like the player can forget what they know lol
Edit: I see other comments that the Box is off the shelves pending revision. So the Beginner Box is around $120 new, $110 used. WT! The D&D box is $25!!
Yeah Pathfinder is in a bit of rebuilding phase with the remaster but the new Core books just came out and I bet we see a remastered beginner box soon. Unless you are a collector I don't encourage anyone to drop over $100 on it, even if you use my affiliate link lol
More Pathfinder content, please
Appreciate another vote for Paizo

Thank you so much for this video, it really is gonna make this little campaing into something memorable for my players
Great! Hope you all have a blast, it's a good one
How are the adventures doing?
The follow ups? Both have been fun so far, Abomination Vault is way bigger

Awesome, happy to help
Do you plan on continuing this series? Was finding both this and the GM prep video so incredibly helpful!
There’s one more video in this playlist and that wraps up the beginners box, what were you looking for specifically?

The remastered version is now available according to the website. I’ve ordered it and it is on its way.
