- Today is Lex's SECOND Autism Evaluation. He was diagnosed with autism when he was 3 years old but now it's time to see if he is in fact autistic with autism testing for a 4 year old. I explain why he is being re-evaluated but we also have an eventful day when he gets STUCK in the car.

Tips for getting through a Colorado summer without an AC:
- As soon as the sun goes down open ALL the windows and put box fans in some of them to pull the cooler air in.
- If your thermostat allows you to, turn it to Fan Only and turn that fan on! It will pull the cool air from the basement and blow it through the upstairs vents.
- Leave your windows open all night, especially those on the second story. This will depend on your comfort level when it comes to security, but it really does help to get the house nice and cool overnight so that you are starting the next day off at a lower temp.
- Make sure blinds/curtains are closed on the sunny side of the house during the day.
- If your budget allows, look into a window AC unit for the hottest, most used rooms in your house.
I spent the first 30 years of my life in CO and never had an AC. There are a few weeks to a month that are tough, but thankfully it's nothing like FL. ;)
When you go looking to buy or build your forever home you can, of course, install AC, or you can put in an attic fan. This is a large unit installed in the ceiling of the highest floor of your home. It's a powerful fan that will pull the cool air from the basement and from the outside when the windows are open. They can be pretty effective and are far less expensive than central AC.
Girl I have been following you for years!!! I know I dont know you it feels like you are my friend. I started following you when I started thinking my daughter had autism. You have brought so much joy and clarity to my life. Thank you!
You are not cheap, you are smart. kids grow so fast it makes good sense to buy at the lowest price.
Lex looks like he’s grown up SO much
Especially at the park, look at that boy run!! You can definitely see how BIG he is getting.
Steph I did the same thing with my 16 yr old when he was little. I was lucky dealership made a door key from vin # and brought to me when the police called for me. Free of charge. Sometimes small towns are a blessing.
Loved this vlog from top to bottom! The opening scene was the best!!!
It seems that Lex’s “autistic” traits like the standing close to people and the mild stimming can easily be adhd.
It definitely could.
Get an extra DOOR (can get it cut almost anywhere, doesn' need the chip because it can't start the car but will open the doors)key made and keep it in a magnetic box hidden on the outside of your car. (I have one hidden on the outside of my car, one in my wallet and one I keep tied to my shoestring but tucked into the top so it doesn't bother me and can't be seen.
Funny thing is is that's exactly what I was getting ready to say too. My dad has always made sure that there was a door key only underneath every vehicle. An my husband I love him to death but he's locked himself out of the car more times than I can count. Which is why I highly recommend always. I highly recommended door key. If you have a vehicle that door key in ignition key are the exact same and will only unlock with the little chip in it. I would get a secondary key fob to keep underneath the vehicle so it can't turn the vehicle on. Best of luck. I hope everybody has a wonderful week. Please forgive any mistakes I may have made I know I'm not the greatest speller or greatest with grammar or punctuation for that matter. I have dyslexia. An I know I'm not the greatest with spelling, or grammar, or punctuation. Thank you for understanding and I hope everybody has a wonderful week.
Y'all tipping all the new generation of thieves off
I just love, Lonnie. We don't get to see his quirky personality enough.
😁😁😁
I want to be a grandma to your adorable kids; even your older ones 😂
Go Liam!!! Improvements improvements! Thats fantastic!
I love how happy Liam and nelly looked at the beginning. I hope everything goes well! Love your family 😊
“I am not paying $9.99 for that ... but I’ll py $9.99 for this” HAHAHA okay i relate so much 😂
Lex is talkn so much... And u really have the cutest children..... Theyr growing up so much
talking
You are doing a great job!
My boys go to shandy clinic. They are amazing you will be so thrilled at the progress the kiddos will make!!! So glad you are here in Colorado!!!
I’m always loving your lipstick. You should post what kind it is!
Such cute kiddos hope all is well and I love once upon a child they always have such great deals on used clothing 🥰
I like that you can do some of the kids clothes shopping without spending a lot of money. They grow out of thinga so quickly anyways. Good video. So glad Lex made it safely out of the car situation. I am glad you stayed calm. At least i think you did.
I LOVE that lip colour on you!
Even though I'm sure it was super scary not being able to get to lex when he was locked in the car, I'm so glad you had turned the air on before you go locked out
Me too! Had I not, I would've definitely called 911
Lex is the most adorable kid I ever saw. Those curls 😍
Lex is adorable (as are all your kids) 💙 Oh Steph my mamma heart went out to you and Lex ❤️😢
Lex is just the cutest!!!
Girl I did the same thing at Speech therapy! Locked my kid in the car but at least it was running. Thank God one of the therapists had AAA and they jimmy the door open! So scary.
Hey Stephanie! Think about getting a keypad lock for the van? Would make it so you can always get into the van without your keys and let's you lock them inside if you need to for safety (like the lake or maybe even a hike.)
Woo Hoo. Liam!!! So proud of following a point and then pointing to share attention!!! Holy Moly those boys are sooo cute in the park. Love the October Unicorn.
You are crazy! If my house ever got that hot I would literally be like going to the movies or my moms or something just to cool down. 89 that’s intolerable. You could just get ☝🏼 big living room AC. I’m fairly sure that would be cheaper than our running four little 5000btu air conditioners ... well in this house it is three. The house can’t handle the electrical load of the fourth one in Zack’s room. So we could put number four in the kitchen, but neither of them seem to care that the kitchen gets hot and AC specifically said he liked not having to soften the butter. Which cracked me up.
Anyway, I don’t know how strong a window unit can get but we always found that the 10000BTU was enough for our living room (in one apartment it was a living & dining room connected with only the kitchen having its own walls) every place we have lived. This place is so small that the living room is on a 5,000 BTU air conditioner. Despite it being like Hades hot outside there have only been one or two days that I wished I could close my door to keep the air in. (AC and I keep our doors open so that Zack gets the run off air ... I have been considering the Blaux swamp cooler for him but I have never purchased anything off of Facebook and I am wary of it.)
Anyway, I am so happy that Lex did so great at his eval. I look forward to his results. I am wondering if they have made an adaptive IQ test for children on the spectrum. The Weshlers’s gave such a spread that the overall IQ was considered inaccurate in most cases that I have known personally.
X’s & O’s. 🤗
Omg. My oldest son got locked in when he was little and I freaked. He was OBSESSED with playing with my keys, and this is what he was doing while I was loading him in the car. At some point, he hit the lock button. I didn't realize he had the keys still, as I shut his door to open the driver's door. Thankfully, police came very quickly and opened it...he was in the same position of not understanding me when I told him to unbuckle. He was completely fine and never realized there was a problem....but I still never let him touch my keys again, and always open my door before I shut any other. Both of my kids have had language delays & SPD...youngest also has CP and suspected high functioning ASD (he is in process of eval).
So crazy- my son was just evaluated and the psychologist wasn't quite sure either. We have another appointment with a developmental pediatrician in Feb so we'll see 🤷. My son struggles socially with peers, definitely has stims (which the psychologist did notice), and struggles with sensory issues and transitions.
Sounds like my kid, in addition to a few other things.
So excited
You have Therapy and doctor galore
Oh my gosh your babies are so cute!
I really like you guys!
Omg , locking your keys in the car is the worse. I had to talk to my 3 year old daughter for about 30 minutes to open the door back up. 😩 ended up going right back in the house 😂
Lonnie is so funny! Don’t drop that da da dum! I needed that laugh today!
My middle kiddo went to Shandy clinic clinic for ot and I loved them!
I didn’t show many symptoms as a small kid. I was mostly mean to other kids as a little kid and then when I grew up, I got a little shy but seemed typical enough that my diagnoses went over the heads of the special education team I was working with, haha.
Haha Lonnie kills me !
I always forget that Danielle and Lonnie jr are home and I’m like omg she left Nellie at home but then I realize 😂😂😂
Had to google the Fahrenheit to Celsius. Dang that’s hot! Thank you have a basement and hoping it cools down soon. Hugs from 🇨🇦
That's really scary with the car door. Thank God the locksmith came in a reasonable amount of time. I know some cars won't lock if your keys are in it but since you obviously don't have that feature maybe in future just roll down your driver side window so you can unlock by hand if necessary. I know I had to do that with one of my cars because I got locked out and I have no idea how so I started doing that to ease my mind.
Hey Stephanie! I love you all very much! 😃😃😀😀😊😊😁😁
We're in the same city! Shandy Clinic is amazing. :)
You look so pretty .... great mom !!
Oh man. I didn’t expect to bawl today. Oh mama, so much stress
Get some chewlry for Lex if he doesn’t have any yet! They’ll help so much with the chewing 💚
I live in South Carolina and we have a Pop-a-Lock locksmith who will come and get the child out. I think they will work with parents on the price. They just don't want a child to die in a hot car. I am so glad that your story ended good.
Two words - Window Unit!! I would die. Hoping it gets cool soon for you guys!
My heart was breaking for you when locked yourself out of the van. In reality he was just fine even if the air didn’t work the best but it must have been so hard to watch him. I accidentally locked 3 of my kids in my van once and we couldn’t find a locksmith to come ASAP and the police officer couldn’t get in. Fortunately a friend drove to my house and got a key from my teen.
Wait lists are shocking. Time is of an essence with autism. And expensive here in Australia. I had to private as the wait list for public was 18mths 😳
Yes. We we're super lucky to get in really quickly private for my daughter. We saved over $1000 doing her assessment through telehealth. Which we were so thankful for.
BookloverFantasy92 I can imagine and any money saved can be spent on the kids needs. Shouldn’t cost anything and be faster however that’s fantasy land lol
@@Wildernessadventuresoz ooh yeah, annoying but we genuinely need so much help with her.
I cannot believe how big Liam and Nellie are getting
Y’all better get some window AC units!!! 😂
Yay, for Liam!
I live in Ontario Canada and we had a heat wave and have no AC either it got up the 90 in our house so I feel your pain
Get ready for next week cause it’s apparently supposed to be bad again.
Oh my gosh!! How can you even handle that? If we didn't have central a/c I would definitely have window units.
Clothing haul PLEASE
I need this! I laughed so hard 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
If only I was lax and buckle up was the only car safety thing that I have to learn. There’s still look both ways even if the light in green, the righter way (manners of driving), blind spots ect.
I would die without AC. I seriously don’t know how y’all are surviving that lol
I have trouble with expressing myself also
16:00 😂 😂 HAHAHAHA
Lex and Liam are so cute and are getting so big
I have been found to have a language disorder too. I thought i was just stupid Like Lex i would respond in ways i knew i should even though i didnt understand what i needed to do. So i was labelled non compliant by teachers and drs etc.
It has happened to me with kids and grandson ... very scary.
What is the name of the clinic again? And hope all is well with you and the family. Thanks for the videos.
Shandy Clinic
Curious if dyslexia could be part of the speech and processing issues. I often wondered if my son was autistic but he just doesn't quite fit but he's severly dyslexic. He really struggles with directions and organizing his thoughts
My son sounds just like Lex, he’s very high functioning but also has a hard time with communication. Here in CA if he’s not diagnosed with Autism he can’t have ABA therapy. I would love to get my son reevaluated again, but don’t want to lose those therapies.
Awesome
It might be worth it to invest in a window fan at least for your living space. Also, might be apraxia of speech for Alexander. I would love those pretzels.
How’s school going to work over there? Interested in each state.
I have fragile X i love your kids
Lex sounds exactly as my son. He did wonderful in Kindergarten but not so good in 1st grade. I think they are wonderful kids but all depends in the method of teaching of each teacher and their understanding of autism.
I'm the same way! I won't pay $10 for a toddler outfit unless it has a few pieces. Lol
They make a chew necklace for adhd my son chew threw his it worked
Can you do a haul???
Kids clothing hauls are cool
I just started watching all your videos.. is autism genetic/ padded through dna?does it become easier Nessie looks like your twin mama bear
You are the only one to do that. I was taking my grandkids in my daughters car . I put the keys in the drink cubbie of ione of car seat. I closed the sliding door. Well i didn't know that the doors would lock. And it was hot. I went to panic place. After a couple of minutes i realized that y granddaughter key were she could punch the button on key bob. She did and i was able to get the door unlocked. !!
Next time God forbid call 911 they will come fast and do it for free ❤️❤️
Can you put window units of AC?
Do most homes in Colorado, not have a/c? Lex is such a cutie pie. Your husband is a funny guy. Love you too.
Some do, some don't. We live more northern so it's not as common up here.
Hi I think you mentioned that Lex would suck the sauce off of pasta without eating the pasta. (Sorry if that’s not right). If it’s right, when did he stop?
Around age 5 he started being able to tolerate pasta (macaroni and cheese)
Will Noah be going to public school in the fall? Will he be mainstreamed or will he be in a special education classroom?
My daughter is a Speech Pathologist and sometimes the patient needs to see the motions of the mouth, tongue and lips of the therapist.
What were the results of his second evaluation?
Spare key for the car is a great idea just incase
We have one. It was just at home wiith Lonnie LOL
I’m sorry you locked the car with lex inside. That is one of the things I always was scared about...
Where is Danielle and Lonnie jr
Lex is a lil legend. When will you get the results?
I was going to ask this too!
Wait WHAT??? Dill Pickle Chips??? I NEED That In My Life!!! Why Don’t They Sell That Here??? GAWD! No Fair! LOL! Where They Good? C’mon Share...
Whats the difference between autism and autistic ?or are they the same?
Why do people have to put their 2 cents in about everything? Thank you for sharing and sorry you had to explain about the therapist and her mask
Where is your white mask from? It looks as comfortable as a mask can be 😛
Kroger!! They sell them for $5 each. They fit WAY better than the etsy ones
Girl, call the fire department next time. They will get there ASAP and it won’t cost you anything.
Plus kids love to see the fore truck.
Many years ago you said that Noah probably wouldn't be able to go to college. Did it change after his last meeting with the school people that tested him?
I don’t know that Noah will want to honestly. We will support him either way but he’s still really young and has a lonnnnng time before that’s even a realistic conversation ❤️
@@OurLANDingCrew8 ❤️❤️
Lol calling out your hubby
I couldn't do what u do girl. I would HATE people worrying about me and mine and what we do and dont do and why we dont or why we do do what we do lol.
It's not easy but I am kind of use to it now LOL
Next time you can cal the cops they’re unlock it if a child is in it
That scared me I that Lax will be lock in that car. Is there a way to not let that happen again I hear about this very thing too often?
I just won't ever start the car first. I just did it because I wanted him to not be as hot.
I could not live in that heat! Are you going to get a window air now that it is so bad in the house?
It will start cooling down in a month so probably not. It's only bad for about 4-5 hours then it starts cooling down so it's tolerable for now.
