A legend a hero and someone who is honest in the music industry, fell but rose again and came back better both as a person and giving more back. The chief, Mr Erick Morillo.
Truly opened in this one, Erick had some issues just like we all human beings, despite of that he was great at what he did, awesome dj and great inspiration of mine and a lot of us, RIP.
WOW this just blows my mind. Such a commitment to being clean in 2016, even regrets about putting his Mum and cousin through his nightmare. So what happened between 2016 and September 2020? Such fire with so much light. What a waste. May you find peace. May your family, friends and fans find peace. 🙏🕊
RIP, when i dj a kids party I still use your first hit during the freeze dance game. I got to witness two of your Subliminal Session parties in person, and they absolutely rocked the house.
Thank you for being honest Erick I at the moment am suffering from an addiction problem and feel as though rock bottom is near this interview gave me some perspective on how good sobriety must feel I feel as you described with that black cloud on me as well I have been a massive fan of yours for years I saw you get Erick morillo way the street named after you in union city and always went to your NY pacha shows thanks for being honest I feel like getting help won't be as bad. You have no idea how much this helps because I look at you as a hero and you speaking about your Struggles shows that it can happen to any one thanks
Much love Mr.Morillo, my DJ and Producer inspiration my friend. Pacha NYC was my 2nd home. And I miss Eddie and Rob(RIP) and the. Crew. I learned so much man. I miss those days
@@luistorres8039 Thanks so much. I remember him. I used to see him at Centro Fly in 2002/2003 in NYC. Centro Fly was popular on Thursday's back then. He was a tall guy. Sorry about him passing.
Sad, sad, sad. Everything that happened to this guy in the last month can happen to everyone in our scene. Going home with woman and partying is a very slippery slope and the road to hell. Who knows the whole story? It's true consent is consent, but when you party on drugs with new people there is that grey area which is the danger zone, especially when it comes to sex. There has to be clear yes and clear no in our time. It is very sad his life ended this way, and this interview is very telling of his demons. RIP and thank you for all the happiness you brought. There is not one perfect human.
@@douplayvinyl9504 that's good. As should all. I for one wanted to see the court case. Why in a matter of justice we don't think there can be reverse taking advantage of? I am not saying that's what happened but I would at least like to have seen the case. I have been in many a party setting where a girl gets really fucked up and is ready to have sex with every one. Luckily in my setting my friends don't go that way. There should be some presence of the individual of that's to take place. All I said is there is a slippery slope, I didn't come out defending the guy. As far as I am concerned the evidence is against him for now. Someone might want to have sex in the moment but decide the next day they were too fucked up and that the other person took advantage of them. In the case she said she woke up naked, not that he forced her down. For me there should be more investigation.
Its hard to be gentle on him when he’s so honest about the struggle with his own ego.. honestly I think he had trouble with earing a “No” from a woman ..unfortunately :(
@M Skibo the rape test came out as positive so it was not just that she woke up next to him.. he even denied sleeping with her and said he slept with the other lady in the house ☹️
@@mad_lau guys I am with you. All I am emphasizing is the danger in partying on drugs. Drugs are mind altering, so in a subject like sex it can be a challenge. Do you feel me? Or do you think I am trying to justify a rapist? I am just deep thinking of what a risk such a situation poses. Rape is a sin.
played alongside I still cant believed, but same as him many others on the scene are gone, and will not be the last one. some famous some locals, all great artist & friends.
Erick love your interview old friend. Keep in the right path. Please give my best to Jav and Jim. Miss you all bro and your music. "I love to move it, move it"......
25:22 99,9% of DJ should listen to this....The whole techno scene changed becouse Dj didnt do what they loved, but did what they tought will bring most fame&money...You had Richie hawrttin transit from techno to some mini mini minimal techno and all the djs started to play that..But for what pric? probablly not as enyojablee to play music you dont love and all the old fans that made you what you are left behind dissapointed with you...
It's even more telling when he creepily laughs each time after he talks about 'girls' and women being his addiction or shortcoming. I've seen this interview before the declarations and long hidden secrets. I just watched it again after Morillo is no longer with us. I couldn't help but think to myself how if you read in between what he says a bit and what he doesn't say, he's still a very disturbed and deeply pained individual - emphasis on individual - that has clearly pushed that upon others unwillingly or without their consent or care for the fact that he did. In this he talks all about himself and never once about the people he's really hurt along the way outside of his mother and 'the love of his life'. That's fucked up.
@@JayKaufman I know. I work in music and did seasons in Ibiza. I missed this talk but remember the respect he got in the process with discussing his ket addictions. Have you read the various articles that have come out? The Beatportal one and the piece in Mixmag with other women coming forward. Yet there's still a disturbing amount of deniers, which I get if he was your mate. The assumption that we see all of someone who's close to us often isn't the case uh.
@@spangol87 Hey Aimee, I hope you're doing okay during this pandemic craziness. I've worked in music as well for over 25 years as a DJ/producer/audio engineer in electronic music. Yes, I've read the Mixmag one. It was a very open secret about Morillo. He even openly groped a female friend of mine and made her cry. Where I think people are struggling is separating him from the music - even though they were one and the same person. There's no denying that in our industry to have some amount of success you have to be driven and a bit of an egomaniac, but behind every ego there is usually a fragility as well. He clearly had demons, but he pushed that pain and hurt upon other people and preyed upon them because he was in a position of power. Not cool in the slightest.
When someone tells me not to do something I do the opposite. That says it all about this guy!!!!! That laugh after saying woman were his pitfalls was really creepy!!!!!
Hold up is this the coward that took his life because the teat came back positive that he raped a woman. Come on people #metoo. Erick made his mom proud.

Erick is a G for admitting how much jealousy played a role in his struggle.

He had his demons...as we all do. But he brought a lot of beauty into my life. Much love, Erick Morillo. RIP

'Had his demons... as we all do' he was a rapist, slight difference
What does have demons have to do with raping women? Sounds like a psycho.
Dont defend this guy
