Hi all I am Iby, the owner of Weatherlight, which is the store in this drama. First of all I would like to thank DesolatorMagic for making this video. Very informative and effective on bringing awareness to the issue (but guess what, they just dumped the entire WPN thing). A few update and clarification: I’d say TWOTC decided to completely ignore this issue. It has been a quarter and nothing has been done by them. No reveal, no rule clarification and such. We had multiple attempts on contacting Bob but there has been no reply. Nevertheless, our community loves MTG and I will keep the store running. If any of you get a chance to visit Hong Kong, do remember to visit us! Regarding the ‘Grey Market’ term, while it does cover counterfeits, it got nothing to do with this drama. Our communication with Bob had always been around ‘are certain sealed products sellable online?’. And yea, either Bob screwed us or some ‘Rivals’ in China did (implies politics, someone in the comment section probably got it right, with WoTC’s unclear policy the vast majority of the Asian market has been operating under Grey Zone, I guess they can screw whoever they like). It is disappointing to see how Wizard mistreat stores not just in Asia but also in MTG’s founding place. MTG is a good game and it deserves better, wish there is one day we can push Wizard to manage PR the way they should. Again thank you for all the supports, feel free to contact us via our FB page to know more/ get updated. Don’t let Wizard’s business misconduct ruin the game, have fun in Magic!
Weatherlight is a really nice all night gaming store in Hong Kong and runs Magic events pretty much daily. They sell a LOT of products for WotC and I think this is a travesty that they got their WPN status revoked or such a minor "offense". Iby and kkc are great ambassadors for Magic, this is bullshit.
You know, I appreciate how much of a reliable news source you are, Des. Keep up the good work keeping people informed about wotc stuff, from their mistakes with me and other's game stores to the constant changes that roll in daily.
This isn't that big if a deal. Whole Croatia has only one Gaming Store that sells Magic The Gathering. And there are more countries with similar problem to Croatia. I will be suprised if someone can find a Gaming Store in Africa. In the other hand, some countries have average of about 10 gaming stores per city.
Haven't watched it yet but here's by guess: politics, because what else would it be, they don't ban stores for actually violating rules, such as the one that states they must exist

"If you dont dumb down the quality of your counterfeits to match ours, you will force our hand"

Anyone want to clue me in on why there are an enormous amount of unusual comments on this video (that I deleted all of).
maybe someone shouted you out?
What kind of unusual comments
Now I want to know what they were.

You almost died twice by the same mine...oh yeah this is an mtg video lmaoo love ya des
I’m guessing this has something to do with China’s restrictive import laws. Hong Kong doesn’t have the strict import laws that mainline China does.
TaiWoTCI should have been more clear about what was wrong, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if there were actual legal reasons for this decision.
I think what actually happens is the lawyers and PR people are like holy shit guys please stop with the stupid shit we can't keep doing this.
Gotta' luv how more and more websites to big companies have a ''contact us'' button and you can't email them as a option...
What game is this?
Can players like me do anything to help weatherlight get back the wpn?
I’m thinking it’s they sold uncensored cards to mainland China and that could cause a poop storm for wotc.
