  • If you always flatten everything before you start to build, you're doing Minecraft WRONG! There is an easy way to build with the landscape and I'm going to show you how. Tutorial for starter house is here • Easy Starter House for...
    Building with the landscape can make even the simplest structure look like it's built by a pro, or at least a pro in the making. And it's a lot less work that cutting down hills or filling in holes. And there is no risk of an accidental mob farm. So watch this super quick video and nestle your next build into the landscape.

    This is Vanilla Minecraft plus Optifine. Optifine helps Minecraft run more smoothly for me. I also use Jermsy's Better Foliage because I like how it looks, and Replay mod for third person and timelapse footage. There are no other mods or add-ons in the version I use.

    Too true! And spot on. You don't need a flat area to start on.

    I love this so much. I'm always fussing about the terrain around my build. This gives me a great new approach!! Thank you!!!

      You're welcome Anjanette! Although, to be honest, sometimes parts of the landscape need fussing over, especially if endermen have been in the area!

    Fantastic tip and I love that you show several different ways to approach the situation. All of your tips on keeping builds interesting are so helpful!

      Glad it was helpful Jenn! I especially love putting each room on a different level, even though that's the one I give least time to. It works really well on a steep gradient.

    This is something I’m glad that gets mentioned. Flattening terrain removes so much character, especially in worldgen mods like Terralith. A building does not exist outside the context of the world and needs to sit in it

      Too true. And it looks so much better nestled into the landscape PunkinLady!

    That is, SO SMART!
    Oh my gosh I need to do that more: Adapt the building to the landscape, and not adapt the landscape to my building! :D

    Good advice on building placement. I know a few people who need to know this. The growling under their houses/buildings gets pretty annoying. Lol Thanks, Dreyma

    i finally gave in & created a new world after having to reset my hard drive & losing my old one. The area im in is quite hilly & holey but other than making a flater bit for crops i'm working with the terrain {something i learnt from you a year or more ago!} Yes i struggle {im not a builder .. look out tutorial here i come} but i much prefer the finished look & how i keep my landscape over many levels .. cause when i've flattened in the past i was then left with the whole how the hell do i make this look good again issue .. Oh & yes always light as you go lol specially early game where torches are abundant but not so much armour. Thanks for the video :) you pointers / tips are always so helpful.

      Sorry to hear about losing your old world. That sucks. But hopefully the new world is working out for you Clare. As to the farmland, nothing wrong with terracing, quite the respected farming technique!

    Great tips! If I were to make a castle (motte and Bailey for example) what would I do?
    I always spend time finding perfect seeds that have a clear landscape

    • @Dreymasmith
      @Dreymasmith  Рік тому

      The motte was a manmade structure ReflexGaming, so you could find a place that would be more or less right and build up the motte. Or you could look for an appropriate hill and alter it as needed for the motte (that happened too). Either way, the rest of the compound, all the outbuildings, etc, could be made to conform to the existing surrounding landscape. There are motte and bailey castles where the lower parts of the castle were built, the motte piled up around that and then the bailey built on the top. Created very secure storage areas, and is also possible in Minecraft. So again, find where you want, build the lower part, make the motte around it and put the bailey on top. Hope any of this is helpful.
