Kermit why some people grind the seeds of cilantro before sowing? I wish to know. Also, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS TIP . Soaking the seeds really helps 👌🏼
When I buy the coriander leaves, I put them in vase inside my fridge. Just like if they were flowers. It lasts a long time. (Have not timed it) but try it. It works. I always have fresh coriander leaves.
I just conducted a scarification experiment on split seeds versus whole seeds, The split seeds still germinate but they germinate last and are very unhealthy. For best germination, rub the seeds lightly with sandpaper, but DO NOT split them.
Another source of coriander seed is the Indian supermarket. You'll get huge bags for very little money. Same goes for mustards, fennel, fenugreek and cumin.
Split or not, I have no luck growing Coriander, lol .. will try again today and leave it w/o watering it for 7 days, it might work. Maybe I over water or maybe because I use STORE bought seeds ./? not sure
If the split seeds germinate quicker, why put in whole seeds? Were you trying to observe if this was true? Or is there another logic behind it? Also, how do you harvest the leaves? Pull them from the roots or just pluck the leaves and leave the stem behind?
Mabel Mancia I used normal compost . You can buy them from any gardening shop . You can also use soil disc as an alternative. I have made a video on soil discs . Watch that to help you 😊
Can you use coriander seeds that you buy from the grocery store for seasoning or do you have to buy them specifically for growing?? Im new to this so sorry if this is a stupid question 😆
BTW, did you water right after you planted the seeds, or was the SOIL wet already ,.? someone mentioned it in the comments below, but doesn't seem like anyone responded to her question
Up-date .. I was finally able to germinate these SEEDS, but die on me after a week or so. Not sure why. maybe because the weather in December. But, its this weather what made them germinate finally. so not sure how to keep them alive once the seeds come out of the ground.
How many times do you water in 1 week? I am covering with aluminium foil. So how should I water it? Do I need to keep it inside house? Or I can keep it in balcony?
Water once before covering with foil. Then water whenever the soil looks dry. You can keep it inside the house ( in a warm place) or outside ( if it's sunny and warm). Hope that helps :)
confusions confusions.... when we are covering it for the first whole week, do we have to water it everyday by uncovering it. then cover it again,? how much water should it be given daily? does it need shade or sunlight? please answer me, I really wanna grow em ..
+Muhammad umar first week you don't have to water. After 1 week you water as normal. Keep it near a window where it will get little bit sun light and stays warm but keeping it in a warm place is more important. Hope that helps :)
Love To Cook okay no problem .. I have plenty of seeds... Let's see if this batch won't grow ..I shall try again. But how many days the seedling takes to grow approximately?
Your voice make me feel traveling in an airline. Enjoyed my flight. Thanks.

Black Hawk lol!! This is so funny and cute
Soak any plant seed overnight (or around 8 hours) for faster germination! Old gardening trick from ancient times that I myself just learned!
Thank you for sharing that with us 😊
amazingdany after soaking 8 hours.. whether we have to dry it and spilt it and then we need to do procedure..? Or directly we can put in pot??
No need of drying,
Just go through ua-cam.com/video/qW5pMztrLK4/v-deo.html

In vase..it means you fill the vase with water too?
Tania Ghosh right!! Just enough water for the stem to be immersed. Cover the vase with a plastic bag in your fridge, can be used for long time.

WOW, completely new to me...u have made it look so simple....will try growing
I just conducted a scarification experiment on split seeds versus whole seeds, The split seeds still germinate but they germinate last and are very unhealthy. For best germination, rub the seeds lightly with sandpaper, but DO NOT split them.

Rainbow Gardens I put my seeds in a container that has tea in it... it mimics the digestion of a bird and helps the seeds along very nicely.
Rainbow Gardens absolutely right
Tea? In what form; dry tea, fresh leaves, liquid? Which? Many thanks.
harrygatto The boiled tea leaves we usually throw away/make compost after making tea and sifting.
Nice garden 👌
Great video. Whst kind of sunlight is required for indoors
My question is, what is the life span of the coriander and the first harvest please?.

How many hours of sunlight did your beautiful coriander got? I am asking this because my terrace gets only 3 hrs of direct sunlight
Because I planted during winter it hardly got any sun. It was mainly the temperature inside the house that kept it warm. So 3 hrs sun is ok. 😊
