I can say from personal experience that this tune is difficult to play without dragging the tempo, but it is one of my favorites. Everyone did a great job in this performance.
Andrea's solo was first class musicianship. Meter, delightful notation, and combinations of heartfelt delights for these human ears of mine. Thank you.
Andrea her trumpet, Mr. Chamorro with the Bass, the piano, the guitar, the drum, with great Scott Hamilton, there is no comment. Thank you guys for this session.
I can't say anything more that hasn't already been said about this band so I just liked 14 of the comments. That's the best I can do from here. Love you Joan, love the kids, and all the old timers helping you out. I just really dig it man.
Andrea has to be the most polite band leader ever. I love how she throws attention to her fellow soloists and just enjoys the music. I'll bet she has a good teacher.
He's standing right behind her - Joan Chamorro! In the bigband, they have always shown the same respect and adoration to their fellow musicians, and support!
Respect for Andrea Motis and other talented young Spanish musicians!! And respect for Joan Chomorro who gives young girls and boys the right inspiration to let them develop into great musicians. In particular the visible joy of the musical experience that the young musicians show is clearly the drive of their fascinating performances. My compliments for this great achievement.
Odmir Teixeira Don't forget another important instrument - her voice! The more she matures, the better it becomes, in intonation, variation and syncopation. Listen from 5:35! I love all of these songs!
Una de mis canciones favoritas interpretada de manera magistral por la maravillosa Andrea y además con el Sr. Hamilton y su sonido tan peculiar. Que más se puede pedir, para una tarde de sábado. 🎶🎵🎼
They have performed in Boston, MA, and they play in NYC occasionally. Joan and Andrea have also taught masterclasses at the Stanford Uni (CA) in 2017 and 2018, and played gigs there too. The cd "Emotional Dance" was actually recorded in New York.
This quintet fits Scott Hamilton like a very comfortable glove, as proved time and again. I think he would agree he couldn't expect better among the cream of the crop in the USA. Ignasi overcame a not-so-good piano like the awesome musician he always is. Nonetheless, a great performance all round.
I wonder where this club is located? BTW, UA-cam recommendations (for me) posted the promotional video on Blue Note TV for the group for Christmas 2017. Really nice to see it!! It's nice that the club keeps their promotional videos available.
Andrea and the quintet really swing on this one. The trumpet keeps getting more and more expressive and now has Andrea's distintive signature. The voice has always been something special with immaculate phrasing and now its more mature and assured. A few years back the jazz critics were comparing Andrea to Nora Jones. This puzzled me because Andrea is and was an authentic jazz musician in her own right and does not need to be compared to others. But I suppose in 25 years time some rising young jazz hopeful will be hailed as the next Andrea Motis. I regret not seeing this concert live. The concert venue is about a 2,5 to 3 hour drive from Paris where I live, but I went down with the flu and reluctantly had to skip it. I wish this concert had been recorded for an album,
BRAVO !;............Ellle va faire son chemin ..Bravo Andrea ! Quel réconfort de voir une telle jeunesse douée !

Outstanding trumpet work, Andrea. The talent of everyone involved makes this a must hear number for jazz lovers.

Scott's smile at the end says it all (3:27)
...and eyes!

And the 'next Andrea Motis' will probably come from the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, where Joan is professor emeritis and Andrea is running the program!
