I don't know how I ended up here, but that sounds good. I mean, it sounds really good! If you have a quiet moment, close your eyes and listen, a very personal story spins in your head. There aren't any really dark moments, i.e. none that foreshadow something really, really bad, but they do exist, but overall a pleasant feeling prevails. And if you're not careful, you don't even open your eyes at the end and drift off to sleep with beautiful dreams in which you continue to spin your own personal story. That's what it does to me. I like it very much, so thank you very much for this beautiful piece! :)

Love your style, my friend. Always holding my attention. No wasted time or over-lingering.
Would love to hear another composer’s take on my stuff too. Feel free to contact me to chat or share music.

Thanks for the kind words. I was finally able to jump over to your channel and check out your playlist of compositions. Your material is very skillfully executed... everything you are doing sounds intentional and inevitable and that checks the big 'boxes' for me. I noticed that you have some material on your channel regarding Percy Grainger. I don't know if you mean to, but I can hear some of that influence in your music. I think that you could do fairly well with wind band literature, if it's up your alley. There's a significant opportunity to publish and get live performances there. As an instrumental music educator myself, I can say that the repertoire could certainly use an injection of nostalgia or new creativity right now (either would do!) Thanks for speaking up and pointing me to your stuff. Subscribed!

@@carlirwinmusic I'm certainly a little rough around the edges, but I have a lot of fun. Your comments are appreciated and well put.
I am a complete fool to the current publishing scene. I have a lots of music that would do very well for winds (some currently set for orchestra). If you have any guidance on how to push my music out even further, I would be grateful.
Also, I am a self-appointed Grainger scholar 😂 (there really isn't anything I haven't heard and analyzed). However, I have a deep love for English and American art-song. While I love music of many languages and cultures, I feel like westerner classical musicians are overlooking our mother tongue and our more direct musical lineage.

@@MrMayAllDay I have yet to meet a scholar who isn't self-appointed, so you're in good company! As for publishing, I haven't personally done this, but there are opportunities for self-publication through existing vendors like JWPepper (a massive East Coast US sheet music provider). Here is a link to their self-publishing program, if interested: www.jwpepper.com/sheet-music/myScore.jsp

This is my review of the sounds as classical musician who plays often in orchestra . The strings are really good when they play both the higher and lower register. When there's the violin solo it's still good but it's much more clear that it's a virtual instrument. The woodwinds sound also very realistic. The worst one is the brass section, horns and trumpets in particular. The sound is not realistic nor good in tone. Overall still good when they play accents and fortissimo.

It's fascinating how experienced, informed people can come to different conclusions over the subjectivity of sounds. As a classically trained brass player with a lot of experience in various brass idioms (symphonic, wind ensemble, quintet, drumcorps, solo work, etc.) I have found the brass samples to be quite stellar, provided that the writing leaves room for breathing and diversity of articulation. I am most concerned about the clarinet and static nature of the piano.
