As an artist myself (music, photography, drawing, writing) THIS is what I've learned about ARTISTS in my 55 years. No matter what any of us do or do not believe in spiritually/universe/atheist etc...none of us can deny that each of us are GIVEN very compelling things to do that we MUST accomplish. An undeniable, driving force to CREATE what we must CREATE! YOU are a great example of this, Jason. A great inspiration for people to "elevate from the norms" as Neil Peart of RUSH put it. No matter who is watching this video...just DO what has been given YOU to DO! Never allow someone to keep you from making your art. And never stop making your art. Because someone in this world...needs it.
What an amazing and beautiful thing to say. I’m taken aback and don’t even know what to say!! This is just so inspiring and gets me so psyched to go make something. Thank you!!!!
Oh shiz, this honestly sounds so fucking sick. I really adore the backwards guitar and your voice is amazing. Definitely inspired me at 2 in the morning !
Cool machines, owned one myself. It's always interesting to see these utilized in conjunction with DAW's. Not something I have any experience with...I used them exclusively as stand-alones. Enjoyed the vid 👍
I just bought 5 cassette recorders , had to have a Yamaha MT8X . I think c60 are best for 8 tracks because when it's slit the edges are cut cleaner because it's thicker.
@@lawrencerasmus great point! I was just thinking about pulling my 8 track out the other day! I’ll have to see if I have any 60 minute tapes laying around.
It just feels like an old friend. Love the sound of it and its limitations. Just good vibes all around. If you can find a place to get it fixed, I say go for it!
I wish I had a 424. I have a portastudio that lets me get around, but it doesn't have near as many functions as the 424. I bought a yamaha 4 track that looks like it has almost the same options as the 424, but the last time I used it the tape got stuck in it and I don't know how to fix it. :( But regardless, I really dug your tune! I loved the backward guitar!
Yep, exactly how you have it laid out. The little mixer definitely has pre-amps in it, but it also has phantom power and the Rode mic needs it because the 4-track doesn't provide any. But, I like to use it when I'm using other mics like an SM57 because it boosts the volume a little.

I miss recording on a 4-track. I should get mine fixed. It needs a new belt.

Thanks Drew! Keep an eye out on FB marketplace, they still pop occasionally. It’s well worth it, especially for that backwards guitar! 😆
Followup comment, I loved the ending! Super cool. :)

So you go to record acoustic guitar like guitar - mic - preamp - portastudio input? That mixer you pointed out has a preamp in it?
Yep, exactly how you have it laid out.
