Of course Elcortez is absolutely the best. We have really enjoyed our stays here. We have been staying there since 2010 and love it. Glad you guys have enjoyed it as well. 🎉🎉
@@UpUpOurWay it’s definitely a surprise place. So glad you like it there. If we want to use a pool we just walk down to the Grand and pay to use their pool for the day.
I recommend staying at the El Cortez. I just stayed there 5 days during the end of April. Very friendly staff, great food, and single deck 21 that pays 3 to 2 blackjack. Thanks for sharing this video, really enjoyed it!
@@UpUpOurWay That is so true! Back when I was younger and went to Vegas, that combo was in just about every casino, down town, and on the strip. The strip was picky about single deck and only offered it at higher min bets. Anyway, Thank You for sharing your good times through videos, I enjoy them!
Years ago we stayed there, in the early nineties I think it was maybe earlier. It was kind of real old, the casino was so full of smoke my eyes hurt bad and it was dumpy and dirty. The rooms were old fashioned. About five years ago we went there to gamble and it was a whole different ball game, clean and the air was good.
Great video! I stayed at El Cortez last December and have reservations there for this October! I love that it's not so huge and I agree, everyone there was friendly and helpful!
Your intro got me in the mood to get into this video. Went well with the backstory of the hotel property. One of my clients saw the Rat Pack perform a few times back in the day . She smiled every time she told me about it . I have never been to the casino before. Looks like a fun spot to party at 😊
Your videos keep getting better and better! I am very intrigued by El Cortez, as I love the 60s era, so l was excited to hear your thoughts. Hope to stay there at some point.
Thank you so much Michele. Yes, the vintage feel is so cool, but they’ve modernized what needs to be. We really enjoy staying there. Hope to go back soon!
Love it! I likely won't make it downtown for the July trip, but am prioritizing at least one day DTLV for the birthday trip. Will deffo need to spend some time at E.C. Also... That big 80's suite would have been PERRRRFECT for the Grannies party!! They'd be Livin La vida golden girls up in there! 🤩👖
Great video from the hardest working YT couple. I like EC & I'm glad my wife & I had the pleasure to meet both of you there last year. Keep up the great work! 👍
Exactly it’s home it’s the Vegas I miss when my parents took me there when I was a child. It had an amazing atmosphere and vibe in the 1950’s 60’s and even the 70’s. Completely different now.
Thank you so much for this wonderful review of the El Cortez. My wife and I love this place we always stay here. It’s the only place that feels like home with Old Vegas vibes. The staff is amazing always helpful. My wife and I actually got married in the bar which is something that they never did before but they were very accommodating. Jackie Guaghan was my wife’s uncle so her parents from Iowa always stayed there every year. This is our favorite connection to the El Cortez. Now that the Tropicana is being torn down for a baseball park. The only original places left on the strip is the Flamingo, Caesar’s Palace and Circus Circus. And the last two aren’t even from the 1950’s I think Caesar’s started in 1966 and circus circus in 1967/8. So El Cortez is breath of needed nostalgia.
I enjoyed watching what Kenny Epstein ,Adam Weinberg has done to El Cortez the last few years! Always enjoy the fact it’s away from the noise and love Siegal’s41 .
@@UpUpOurWay I met Mike Nolan the then G.M. and president of FREMONT EAST & owner KENNY EPSTEIN AND THE NEW G.M Of el Cortez Adam Wiesberg. Over 3 years ago and fell in love with the El Cortez! The rest is history!
We went there in December 2023. The video poker was quite decent, for the area. Our experience trying to get a player’s card, OTOH, was kind of traumatic. The person at the counter was so unbelievably stupid, it scared us off of ever staying there. Are they _all_ like this? I kid you not, the experience was surreal. It darn near spoiled the afternoon.
Sounds like a fun place to stay because I am old school, 72 years old. If El Cortez ever adds a pool, I hope they add a diving board to make it 'old school'. As a bonus it they could advertise that it is the only resort hotel in Las Vegas that has a diving board swimming pool!!!!
Haha! That would be pretty awesome. I don’t know if you saw the hotel review we did from Miami, but I would totally imagine that pool at El Cortez! It was very 1950s. But add a diving board! 😂
Sounds like a good advertising gimmick. I don't really care if there's a pool or not, because I never learned how to swim. I'm 63 now, and I should probably take lessons just in case. 😃🌊
I loved the review and I am interested. How did you feel walking about a block to Fremont Street? That seems like an excellent place to get mugged. I stayed at the GN about a month ago. I really appreciated having visible security on Fremont Street. Thanks!
We visit Fremont Street often and park at El Cortez a lot. East Fremont is much more activated these days with restaurants, bars, and night clubs. So it’s not as if you’re walking down a dark, empty alley. It actually gets very lively and full of people on weekend nights.
First time staying at El Cortez in Oct for grannyfest So far I have Granny and Dice, Walt and Tina, Keno Kid and Candance charging MY Room for there Cocktails, should I add you to the list???
I know the restaurants and bars close at like 1am on weekends but stores close early. And I think during the week things close earlier too. I imagine they must lock up the area after the last restaurant or bar closes.
That is a huge mistake. El Cortez is a pit. Golden Nugget is a luxury resort. El Cortez is two blocks off Fremont. Golden Nugget is in the middle of it. The rooms are nicer, the bars nicer, the service is better, the restaurants are better, the casino is larger and better. There's one of the best pools in Vegas at GN. Everything is better at GN. Stay in the Rush Tower. You won't be disappointed.
@@Andrew-un8tx we do like the nugget too (have a few videos too!) Very different experiences. But not fair to say ElCo is a pit. They continue to invest and it might be a lot different from what you remember.
The only time I ever went in there it stank like sewer and the slot machines were all malfunctioning. Casino floor workers kept comng around and inserting cards to reset the every few minutes when they would glitch out. No thanks. It's a pit.
They are constantly making improvements at El Cortez. A lot of remodeling and new machines everywhere. Have never smelled the sewer smell though. It’s definitely not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s not a pit either. It’s sorta becoming a hot spot! We see a lot of younger folks there lately!

We stayed at El Cortez last week.. stayed in one of the original 47.. room was ok but not the best. The coffee machine did not work, told the front desk, they promised to fix the problem, they did not!! Looses slots?? We won more at other casinos. Brought it to the man in charges attention, he was the most rude man in the place. He should be fired. 50 dollar steak there steakhouse was dry like it was reheated. Not a very good experience. I emailed the hotel about our experience no reply yet. I really think they don't care. This video is a lie.. in our opinion don't go there..
