Long ago in a distant land, I, Akul, the Scorpion Dragon Master of Darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil. But a foolish outlaw warrior stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow was struck, I sacrificed three creatures, and flung an Etali onto the battlefield where my evil is law. Now the fool seeks to return to the past and undo the future that is Akul!
But that would’ve only been good for one attack, which he got through anyway. The chump blocking from Gleeful Demolition blowing up Skrelv kept him alive 👍
Rutstein's Flavor text "No questions. No refunds." is quite funny. Especially because you said "That is value. There is no question." when your opponent had it on the battlefield.
@FreeFromAllThings if a flying 5/5 trample that costs 4 and can sacrifice 3 tokens for a free like 8 drop that immedialy gets you advantage is too bad I'd quit magic. Now if it's bad because there isn't enough dual lands to do this consistently on turn 4 I'd get but if this card is straight up bad compared to other stuff that'd be insane
Akul is the one card in this new set thats really making me want to get back into magic. Thanks for deck, i'm considering sleeving it up and throwing some cardboard around.
He's not that good in 60 card formats. You have to have him, a bunch of one drops AND a big creature in hand, to make it happen. Otherwise you'll be just playing a mediocre rakdos deck, with splashy spells and no way to cast them

Its great seeing your first reaction to reading Corpse of the Lost. In your "Skeletons broke the Outlaws Early Access event!" video you said you were skeptical of the deck the first 2 times it killed you. Idk, you seemed pretty confident you were dead once you read that card lol. Love the videos!
Pretty sure that was off by 1. Adeline + Ratadrabik block Etali. Human token blocks Skitter. Thalia blocks a 1/1. The rat that Skitter spawns has summoning sickness. Akul and 3 1/1's will only do 8 damage.
Vat of rebirth would work so well with this deck. I've been playing rakdos reanimator sacrifice with vat of rebirth and it was pretty solid, but now with akul it would be amazing.

Skeletons got you, but monored would have closed the deal way faster. Akul is a cool creature, but as you said it yourself, a gimmick. There's no chance it will top 8 at the upcoming Pro Tour, in fact I'd be shocked to see anyone invited feature this card in their 75-card decklist. Monored looks like THE deck to beat (sadly... we could use some other deck to make a statement once in a while, aggro has had quite a showing in the past decade) based on other content creators. Forgetting Skrelve's "Can't be blocked by creatures of the chosen color" is what I'm here for
I have lost many games strictly because I've forgotten that extra line of text
I always think Skrelv gives protection from a color, but no, it's just hexproof from a color and can't be blocked by that color...

Man i read akul and realized this card is legal for 3 MORE YEARS
its Rakdos though, so they'll probably nerf it or ban it before anything else

Or if you use Stashed Skeleton, you can sac the skeleton to put something in play and then tutor to go find more big things.
