    I love the innocence of this song. He wants the woman he loves to tell him that she thinks he's beautiful too. I guess in a way the song is saying we all want to feel beautiful, even men!

    What's interesting is that before I learned this song was released in 1979, I was totally convinced that it was new, from an up and coming artist. A sign of a true transcendent artist...their works are relevant in any era.

    My first encounter with this song was in Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show. David Byrne was performing it. The singer Willium Onyeabor is a mystery man and the song is really a fantastic one. I liked it so much

    This is one of those songs that existed in the universe before it was made. Every now and then I hear a new song for the first time, but it feels like it's been around forever. Something about the way he hits a few notes and transitions to others.

    Not sure that people were listening to the Nigerian synth-funk maverick William Onyeabor at barbecues in the east Midlands in 1990 as seen in the brilliant "This is England 90" however it did remind of the genius of “Fantastic Man”. Thanks Shane Meadows.

      I consider myself fairly musically astute across a wide range of genres, but I just heard this being played for the first time tonight on a streaming college station in Winnepeg (CJUM), while I was walking my dog in the suburbs of Seattle-Tacoma. In the first few seconds, I immediately thought of Bowie's S&V as well. Imagine my surprise when I learned from the DJs that this came from a man that was a legend in Africa. I definitely dig this as much as Bowie's classic. Music is indeed the greatest uniter ever devised.

      Si tu es sensible à ce genre de zik , interesse toi à la funk , au disco boogie nigerian comme , par exemple eric kol , chrissie essien , kassav ( pas les antillais ) , ou au ghanéen georges darko . Tu fermes les yeux , et tu pars loin avec eux . Les mecs rient et pleurent avec les intruments .
