All Aboard! 🚆
Our journey started bright and early at Bucharest's Gara de Nord, one of Romania’s busiest train stations. With food and beverages in hand ☕ and backpacks packed, we were ready for a day of exploring. There's something so nostalgic about train travel, don’t you think? It’s like stepping back in time, but with mobile data and comfy seats! 😂
The train was surprisingly comfortable, with spacious seats and big windows perfect for gazing out at the changing landscapes. We settled in, plugged in our headphones for a bit of retro tunes 🎧, and watched the cityscape transform into rolling hills and charming villages. It’s amazing how quickly the hustle and bustle of the city fades away!
The Scenic Route 🌳🌾
As we chugged along, the scenery was just stunning. We passed through lush green fields, and picturesque little towns, and even caught glimpses of the majestic Carpathian Mountains 🏔️. The views were so mesmerizing that we found ourselves putting our phones down (a rare sight, we know! 📱) and just soaking it all in. It’s moments like these that remind us why we love travelling by train-there's just something magical about watching the world go by.
We made a quick stop in Ruse, Bulgaria 🇧🇬, where we had a chance to stretch our legs and grab some snacks. Pro tip: always pack a little picnic for the journey! We enjoyed some local treats and had a mini feast right there in our seats. 🧀🍇 - you definitely need food for the ride!!!
Crossing the Danube 🌉
One of the highlights of the trip was crossing the Danube River! The view was absolutely breathtaking, with the river stretching out beneath us and the sun glistening on the water. It felt like a scene straight out of a movie. 🎥
As we crossed the border into Bulgaria, we had a quick passport check-no biggie! Just another stamp in our travel passports. Stamps, like wrinkles, are proof of a life well-lived, right? 😂✈️
Arrival in Dimitrovgrad 🚉
After a few more hours of scenic bliss, we finally rolled into Dimitrovgrad arriving pretty late we were pleasantly surprised by how easy and comfortable the journey was. The station itself was deserted, and it felt like we’d stepped into a whole new world.

If you’re ever in Bucharest and looking for a unique way to explore more of Eastern Europe, we highly recommend the train ride to Dimitrovgrad. It’s a relaxing, scenic, and affordable way to travel.
