Awesome demo! It pains me so much to hear the slightly flat / sharp pokey notes (especially the bass line) due to 8 bit frequency register control (unless you join 2 of the 4 voices together to get a 16 bit frequency controlled voice which not too many tunes do). To cover flat / sharp notes, you need to use vibrato that has average frequency of the intended note. A great example is Rob Hubbard’s A8 Jet Set Willy tune where they joined 2 voices for the perfectly in tune bass voice, other voices used lots of vibrato!
To get it to run on my 800xl it would be a good idea to let the loading sound on here, so i could record it on a tape (or MP3 File) and load it in the real hardware - that would be nice! I collected about 300 Disks with Games, but there is of course no such demo with...
And I wonder how they get that double scroll graphics, i do programm a xl myself, but that hardware routine to scroll sofltly does only work in one direction by using the 8 pixels (192 instead 200)...
@mauro esteban rodriguez zubieta its not fine. UA-cam sets a videos bitrate by its resolution. 240p has a very low bitrate compared to 480p. a low bitrate means it looks blurry than it actually is when objects move fast
The POKEY chip will always have a special place in my old 8-bit heart, so this is awesome, thanks for posting!
Pokey atari is more nerd than c64...i love it
pretty damn cool... especially running on 1979 technology
Atari 800xl is from 1982
@PrzeszczepiX the pokey chip too?
This computer never ceases to impress! Love it.
Amazing ;) real HW maximum demo. Great job :-O

I enjoy the slightly flat/sharp pokey notes!
Yep, and if you flip between two notes quickly enough it sounds like the middle pitch without vibrato.
@@nickolasgaspar9660gives it character!!

Brilliant. Awesome !
Great tune!

Sick!
🤘😁🤘
Can you upload your videos in higher resolution than 240p please? Many of your videos are blurry.
????
@mauro esteban rodriguez zubieta just upscale it by like 4x, i think youtube uses bilinear filtering to smooth out the pixels
@@atari8bitsforever435 UA-cam compression lowers the resolution and quality. 480p would clear up the video a lot, please.

Crazy good.
