You are such a beautiful human, Ellie. You give me hope for the kindness of the human race. Thank you for everything you are doing. I love donating to The Gentle Barn, as I know it's meaningful and compassionate all the way, and helps animals as well as people. ♥

I visited the gentle barn a couple months ago for the first time with my boyfriend. It was a very very good experience and Ellie Laks is someone who I admire and look up to. She is my idol. I want to learn more about veganism but I am worried I won't get the proper nutrients. I was vegetarian for 7 years but stopped because I felt so sick and had no energy. I don't eat beef or pork and haven't for a very very long time, about 10 years now. I will never eat beef or pork. I love all animals but I find it hard not to eat poultry. I really would love to learn more about being healthy on a vegan diet. I do not drink milk (but do consume other dairy products) because it really upsets my stomach and also, I know it's really not good for me and I shouldn't be drinking milk from a cow when that milk should go to a calf. Anyway...I hope I can learn.

Here's a link with possibly everything you need to know to go vegan healthfully, check out all their links as well: 7dayvegan.com/guide/
FYI: Current food supply in my house...most things are preferred organic non-GMO:
Superfirm tofu, Peanut butter, Sprouted whole-grain bread, Quinoa, Kale, Spinach, Carrots, Tomatoes, Soy milk fortified with calcium, etc., Blackstrap molasses (for calcium, iron, potassium), Whole grain cereal (few varieties), Sunflower seeds, Apricots, Yellow mangoes, Lemons, Flaxseed meal (important for Omega-3 fat), Cantaloupe, Avocados, Corn tortillas, Low-sodium vegetable juice, Whole-wheat pasta, Chickpeas, Blueberries, Bananas, Nutritional yeast (for B vits. a tablespoon or 2 a day in food), Oatmeal, Black bean soup. (I left out oil, condiments & stuff.)
Supplements I use fairly regularly: B12, & kelp tabs for extra iodine because I like soy, and occasionally when needed: D2, zinc, C.
I guarantee if you eat this way, you'll be very healthy, of course not including anything you're allergic to or whatever. Sure I'm crazy for typing all this here, but it's the basis for a new article I'm doing :) ...Take care.

I love The Gentle Barn!! It is my dream to someday start or be a part of a Sanctuary like yours. I want to create one with a community garden as well as housing for the volunteers who are homeless. God Bless you and all you continue to do for the animals in need.

Such an urgently needed message that needs to be taken up by all humans. Every good reason stated so very well in just a few minutes, and you're pretty and healthy, thank you so much Ellie.

I can see that this video şs done with good intentions but hit rocks in all three aspects. For environment: removal of animal farming does nothing to the industrial agriculture which is very destructive to habitats. For health: we are omnivores we need nutrients from both plants and animals, we have been that before even agriculture. For compassion: veganism doesn't prevent animal human conflicts, it certainly won't prevent extermination of feral pigs in US

You didn't address my points except copy pasting vegan leaflet. We are omnivores we need nutrients from both plants and animals, we have been that before even agriculture. You haven't provided an answer for industrial agriculture (raising plants) destroying habitats. You also didn't answer how being a vegan will stop feral pig problem.

No you didn't address feral pigs at all. They are invasive species, they destroy local flora and fauna, they destroy crops (you know what vegans eat).
