Just got my first beetle larvae this month, and I can't WAIT to open their pupal cells! I have some Gymnetis Thula, Euphoria Fulgida, and Chrysina Woodii.
@@BeetlesAsPets as grubs they arent too bad so far. But the adults only eat fresh black walnut leaves. Someone from beetleforum who raises them said they have gotten them to survive on fresh apple leaves, but i dont know is that is a temporary solution or not. Even raised at room temp, they need a winter diapause period before they will pupate. Raising them is going to be an adventure!
@@BeetlesAsPets So I misremembered my info a little! Looks like there are a few species of fresh leaves they will accept, and it is apple SLICES not leaves heh. This is a good topic to read. I do not normally weigh my larvae, unless it is something special : too many larvae and beetles. I think in one of my tityus videos, I describe when I put them into separate boxes for pupation.
These are hypoaspis predatory mites. Normally they live on beetles or beetle larvae, as they always live in close proximity to mites natural food, e.g. fungus gnat larvae or similar. I do not think that in small numbers they can harm a beetle, however in massive numbers I think they may stress the larvae.
@@BeetlesAsPets I thought something like that. Unfortunately my army ant colony had a mite infestation that decimated it. I tried to use predatory mites to reduce the parasitic ones but to no avail.
@@frankdughtank8327 nice. I use similar well rotten oak sawdust substrate, but it takes 16-18 months for them to get to pupation. I am looking if there any faster ways for them to grow :)
@@ardasbeetles if substrate doesn't dry fast you don't need to spray it at all. You can mix in some soil, although it would not improve your substrate much.
I have a Dynasty Granti Male and female ,but she doesn't want to have 💏 with him because when he gets on her she knocks him down and runs 🤣she is very strong. This is normal or have a problem with this Dynasty Granti pair I need help to meet this guy's.
You need to mate these in a small enclosure. Usually if you leave them overnight or so they will definitely mate. I am making a vid about d. Granti ATM including assisting mating :), should finish it in 1-2 days.
Used to have one. It was a decent size. It was black with yellow spots, with a yellow head with black horns
The moment you pull them out, they are so gentle so open so trusting to you. 💝
Wow! The fugitive is so nice!
Its been a while since I found a good insect channel
Love these videos- it’s like opening Christmas presents! 🎁🐞
Or those chocolate Easter eggs with toys inside!!! 😍

Never raised chrysina. Are these easy to breed?

💕Uh, They are gorgeous! I just love 💕
I wish I had beetles like this
This is so oddly satisfying
Hi. I'm currently keeping some tityus larvaes, may I know what is the weight of your tityus before they build a chamber and became a pupa?

Very nice Beetles i breeding this too 😍
I noticed some mites on her when you first picked her up. Are mites generally an issue?

Is the ratio of females to males dependant on temperature?
I did not notice. I think it vary but normally the ratio is no more than 60/40 both ways.
awesome video as usual, love the commentary. wonder if you could find a spotless male to breed with the spotless female
Great video!!
Hey Beetles as Pets, can you make a video about how to make flake soil at home? I'd appreciate it.
There is recipe of making flake soil in the bags outdoors on Daniel Ambuhl channel. I make some of my soil using this approach.
