Dear Peterson Fans, i would ask anyone who speaks French, and if you would like it, then please write the spoken text here in a comment below, then I would be able to attach to this video, and after that UA-cam will automatically create the subtitle and translate it into all languages. Thank you! András (from Hungary)
Andràs , Here is the translation: OP : I do a lot of touring, I now write for the cinema too, but when I have time, for me it's necessary to study new music, then also I give lessons for my students Interviewer :have you received lessons from famous pianists, have you for example met Art Tatum? OP :It was my father at the piano because in 1950 I did a lot of things with art, after the concerts in the clubs, I spent a lot of time with him . OP ( after playin) I need time for myself too, don't I, because I also like to fish a lot, and then other things, and I have a family, with a new baby Interviewer: it seems to me that you are a very good photographer ? OP If I have the time I've done a lot of things with photography, because photos are the same thing as music, it's a film story of the world, isn't it! (I literally translate what Oscar says, but in his French it's a bit abstract) Interviewer: But still, do you think that you can create as much with a photo as with a piano? It's the same thing, how to say that in French, it's an emotion. that's it for the translation: but Oscar speaks in a very hesitant French, at one point Oscar speaks of the date of 1850, 18... 50 more precisely ! and I think he meant 1950 when he talks about having spent time with Art Tatum, they were not that old both of them ha ha and at another time he says that Tatum was his father at the piano , in fluent French he would have rather said: Tatum was my god at the piano ! But maybe he meant that Tatum was also like a father to him . I had the opportunity to meet Oscar in Montreal during a reception, I spoke to him in French but Oscar was more comfortable with the English language so I corrected myself with my very bad English and my horrible French accent ha ha,. His sister Daisy who was there, and who expressed herself in perfect French, said to me; Oscar is all the time around the world, and has lost a lot of the French language, and expresses himself almost all the time in English But anyway what interests us first is the wonderful music of Oscar, and music is an international language. Thank you Andràs again, for sharing your videos, it's a real happiness for Oscar lovers ;)
@@pianistepascaljenny Hello Pascal! Thank you very much for the translation and your comments! Your story with Oscar is amazing, what a great memory! Thanks for sharing with us! And from now your english subtitle is available for the video, hope it works well, but it can be edited later if its needed for some reason. András
@@SzekAndMusic it was a real pleasure to do this, and this little document with the great Oscar, deserves it ..And it's very kind to mention my name at the beginning of the document ,thank you András. ;)
I tell you a story: I got my first Peterson CD from my sister, when I was 15. It was the 'Tracks' solo album. I loved it. And then I listened to everything what I could from Peterson. When I was 22 years old (15 years ago) I uploaded a Peterson concert to my sister's UA-cam 'kacsalin' account. It was the 'Ronnie Scott's Club' concert from 1974. I knew when they were playing Blues Etude, but I rather named the title of the video to 'Boggie Blues Etude', because I liked it very much that famous boogie-woogie left hand what Peterson played in some part of the Etude. Today everyone is referred to this track as 'Boogie Blues Etude'. Which is really cool. Btw, today this video is the second most viewed Peterson video (3,7million) in the complete UA-cam right after the most viewed 'C-Jam Blues' which has 14 million views. UA-cam is funny. I like it. Hope I can reach more and more people, but at the end...Peterson is the point here. We just have to enjoy the music. That's it. And still there are some hidden videos which needs to be uploaded... 🙂
@@SzekAndMusic fantastic. You’ll get there. Your channel is the best for me, because you upload rare stuff, it’s priceless. I lost my mind hearing the Paris concert 1978, could never find the video though. I saw Oscar in his last Montreux concert in 2005, maybe one of his last concerts in life. Saw him backstage too.
