I absolutely love that the ascension of King Frederik X was not marked by the mourning of Queen Margrethe’s passing. Queen Margrethe was dressed in black at her balcony appearance celebrating her accession - it was a very solemn occasion. I remember my Danish father saying ‘The King is dead, long live The Queen’ as soon as he heard of king Frederik IX passing - I thought it quite brutal at the time, but, in hindsight, truly appreciate the simplicity and acceptance of transition. It is the Danish way of moving on and finding something to celebrate in the darkest of hours. Proud to be a Dane 🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰
Margrethe, seated behind Frederik in soft pink & brown, looks as elegant as I have ever seen her look and quite relaxed. I am admiring of anyone who can live up to the rigors of a 10-day wedding extravaganza of ceremonies and rituals. How stressful!

I recall in the past, Queen Mary's deep curtsy to the queen .. she did the best curtsies -- she shows great respect and deference still to Queen Margrethe. It's good to see the Crown Prince invovled during his holiday break from school. I am always impressed by the gracious presence of Empress of Japam. A very elegrant lady.

It was wonderful to see the closest members of the Danish Royal Family taking part in King Frederik X and Queen Mary's first official event as the new Monarchs of Denmark. And, the way Queen Margarethe II has participated in these throne transition ceremonies is increasingly a lesson from an excellent example. Yesterday, there she was, early in the morning , on a snowy day, and with a healthy and fresh air , participating in the session that took place in Parliament. The falling snow even splashed Queen Mary's blue outfit with white.

The Danish Government spared the subjects the expense, 176 years ago when they abolished coronations.
Denmark has not had coronations since 1848. Nothing to do with Frederik.
