@@fasi247 Yeah dont do it :D You have to shave so much material off and shave off the pivot. its just not fun. Maybe with the right tools. But just getting a Riptide pivot cup is awesome too and safer!
@@skate-horizons How does a modded bear vs poppy? Or the unmodded version? I'm using one with 88 donut precision bushing ring, its not bad but I wonder if modding it with spherical bearing would turn it into a poppy, since the beernett mod is close to bhanger imo.
Hey there, it won't turn into a Poppy, and even a Bhanger wont beat a poppy when it comes to efficiency. I think it's easier to compare RKP vs RKP, siince its essentialy the same geometry. A precision truck will always outperform a cast truck. Straighter axles, less play. But these DIYs get pretty close. So let's say my modded bear will not be as good as my Poppy. But using the right bushings makes a bigger difference than using a more expensive truck. I can't put a number on it but I will try to in another video!
@@skate-horizons Please mod the Pantheon Stylus via swapping softer bushing BS and/or RS to see ... "will it pump?" If it works it would be a super easy and cheap mod. In your interview with Jeff he showed which bushings fit perfect - I forget the make/model. It would be super cool if the Stylus would be able to supplant the Vector as the go-to low cost front pumping TKP after all these years. Big if ;-)
I had fun doing spherical mods and even riding a poppy, but I always had that nagging worry in the back of my head of kingpin failure (even with the poppy). Especially when taking a more serious hill 😅 Luckily my style is more, efficient switch pushing and if I'm pumping, it's big surfy pumps.
The whole DIY thing if one has the tools and enjoys that sort of thing is cool. But the Q I have and asked on Reddit is ... what makes the Vector special and worth this trouble? Is there something special about the geometry of this truck? and if so what is it? Can the Pantheon Stylus TKP work as a decent front pumping truck with some sort of softer bushing config? So far no answers on Redditt. :(
Well the Vector works because of its high kingpin and longboard bushing usage. A normal skateboard truck doesnt have the necessary articulation. Google: The case against Bennett Vector by Changing Angles. He describes it very well. The Bennett isnt even that good. The Stylus might work as well, going to test it eventually!
@@skate-horizons The guy form Changing Angles claimed that both Bennet and Bhanger have the wrong pivot angle. He also noticed that SurfRodz TKP truck has the right one . I have both RKP and TKP SurfRodz trucks. RKP totally sucks as a front (too crazy), TKP pumps wery well. I'm going to install spherical in it. Did you purchase kingpin and spherical from Sickboards?
@@reugen87 Sry for the late answer, youtube flagged your post and I just noticed it. No i bought the Kingpin from an Aviation Supplier in euope and the sphericals from aliexpress!
Really great video! Certainly don't want to push you into the influencer scene, but it would be great if you could link some of the products like the steel hole saw and co. I also love that you even took care about that nasty pivot that Bennett Vector are notorious for. One question too: Do you know of any newer trucks that have a similar geometry but way better quality that could be apt for the same procedure? I really hate Bennett Vectors low effort with the pivot and other parts being the same shitty quality for decades...
well, the Bennett vector is pretty unique in that case. The Bear 130 is another good truck to do that on! I try to give measurements so you csn find it yourself! But at some point I might add links! Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it!
@@skate-horizons too bad that we're still left with the bad moulds. But if you say the bears are similar that's quite the good alternative in my eyes. Definitely one of the best brands IMHO. @@skate-horizons okay, I thought this would be hard to compare since the bear gen 6 are RKP instead of TKP. After the Paris mod, I figured it would just be a matter of time before you modded a Bennett. 😁👍
I actually have a bear and another bennet on the shelf.
I think modded bear vs poppy would be interesting!
Would you agree ?

It might. But there is no Sensation that might indicate that.
