80 amp chargers need a 100 amp circuit. Many homes only have 100 amp service.

At home you do not need fast charging in 95% of the time as you plug it for the night like your cell phone. Buy a 30A supported power plug, share it with your dryer via special adapters if you want, it will be more than enough. My daughter got charge over 110V 15A all night for about 85KM or 50 miles. Enough to go to the next public chargers or her work.

Niamh Harris - A UK study has found that electric vehicles EVs pollute at a far higher rate than their gasoline or diesel-based counterparts. The 2022 study by Emissions Analytics, an independent global emissions testing and research group, found that during a 1,000 mile journey, EVs release 1,850 times more pollutants ...

Surprised Tom didn't bring up the Porsche Wall Charger Connect. It's also an 80 amp charger and unlike the Porsche car itself, it is within the same price point as the Ford charger and Lucid charger.

You have countries like here in The Netherlands, where municipalities rule all aspects like it’s north korea, and they are against people parking on their own property, if it’s not in the planning/“steals” a parking spot on the street ( it’s now in the way of your would be driveway) I intend to move houses just have one of the few options with a spot to park. Let me tell you that charger selection is the least of my worries here

Swapping the battery in cold weather might have issues with frozen grit, consisting of some road mock/mud mixed with frozen ice. The swapping station personnel will ask the EV owner to visit car washing place before being accepted for service.

Wait - I thought you lived in Thailand, Alex. Probably the majority of people don't have charging at home as they live in an apartment or don't have driveway parking. We just did our first minor road trip in California in our Mach-e. I don't have the NACS adapter yet. It was painful trying to find a working DC fast charger. I feel the pain. Going to Vegas from LA next week. That will be easier.

It's very important to understand the capacity of the electrical installation in your house or even the grid transformer providing service to your community. Depending on the limits of your distribution panel and breakers and wire size the 80 amp charge box may not work. If modifications are necessary to your electrical panel it could also get very expensive. In some cases (Thailand) the grid providor (PEA) in many cases has a program that allows for a second TOU Time Of Use meter for the express purpose of charging an EV ONLY. This allows for off peak rates just for your EV. It's about 7.5 cents per kwh from 10pm to 9am. Very good value.
