      It's kind of funny. First I played violin in grade 3. Then I switched to cello in grade 5. I switched to standup bass in grade 7. I switched to bass guitar in grade 8, entirely self taught, using mostly Tool and A Perfect Circle. My body is CONDITIONED to play Tool, so I don't really notice the pain.

    the way learn these songs is by creating playlists of previously played setlists, and i just add the bass covers to the playlist in the order of whatever setlist im playing (basically i have about 1:30:00 jam sessions whenever i feel like playing a setlist all the way through.) AND HOLY GOD DOES IT FEEL AMAZING TO END A SET WITH THE FINAL STRIKE OF THIS SONG!!

      4. Cold and Ugly
      5. Eulogy

Now im trying to dissect the part and I am confused. 4 bars of each note (2 and 5) and they are played as 16th note triplets each note right? counting it in 6. So is this just 6/8? but then how does each bar have 18 notes?

      I haven't played this song in 2 years I think, but I remember the tired arm for sure. Especially during the build-up.

  • @PeterGrenader
    @PeterGrenader 4 роки тому

    why not just place the notes on the staff instead of the intervals? I dint get how this is easier. Are you trying show which string to play them on..is that the deal here?

    • @LeoBassCovers2
      @LeoBassCovers2  4 роки тому

      I have no say in what will appear on the screen. This is just the standard conversion from Guitar Pro to Go Playalong which is mainly focused on showing the tabs in a fancy way. I feel like this is fine though.

      Depends on which part. At some parts I just hammer-on and pull-off without strumming yeah.

      Apple Peel I am very late and by now you probably have gotten it but what I did was pick the low D string once and just keep hitting on the 2nd note and then letting it go so it could be an open note or 0 and then hit the two again but this time I’m not picking on it, I’m doing a pull off (I think that’s what it’s called) where I’m just holding the note and then I pull off the note to an open string. So what I did was continuing doing that and I didn’t worry about the high D string cuz I knew that would be confusing for me. So I just kept working on that and then when I felt ok with it, I did the pull off and quickly shifted the pick over to the high d string and played an open note or 0. Keep doing pull offs on the low D and try to hit the high d when you hear it or when it feels right. For finger picking, I can’t really tell you I just alternate my fingers and my fingers really do the work I don’t think about it. I hope that helped.

    You're good bro, but you're making that bass line more complex then it is. It's played on a 4 string in dropped d tuning and it's really rather simple. I learned it right out of a official tool tab bass book. The 1st song I learned off this album. I suggest you look it up again. Nothing at all against you or your playing, it's just unfortunately not right!!

      I didn't play any note on the fifth string though. There is no official tab book by the way.

      Justin chancellor showed the main riff in an interview for bassiste magazine which is on UA-cam: ua-cam.com/video/dj-g9a5Vzk0/v-deo.html
      It’s played on the low D string..

      “Official tool tab bass book” lmao.
      There are various tabs for this song. There are three that I’ve found to be the most accurate, this vid being one of them. At the end of the day, if it sounds like the song, who gives a shit? There’s more than one way to skin a cat 😉
