Apparently, Del was asking for more money to play live than Dan was willing to pay, so Del ended up splitting along with the rights to the lyrics. Therefore, to avoid getting sued, they had to change it for subsequent performances.
Seeing this now is absolutely crazy. I can't believe they've come this far. They just had their tour, I went, and it was amazing seeing how much they've improved on literally everything.
