I met my co-founder in my high school, he is a passionate guy like me and in our school days, we used to discuss a lot about different businesses and their working. Later, I started my coupon and discount service providing startup and asked him whether he would be interested in something new and I told him a little about the startup. He was eager to join and we worked and launched within 3 months but we are still struggling after 6 months of starting our first company because of less customer and lockdown conditions. I accept that we get frustrated sometimes because of the stagnant position of our business and we go off-track but we manage to return our focus.
Hi rishi, i want to learn and grow by understanding a starup business. i would like to help you in whichever ways possible for free! i know it is tough times now but you can connect with me on linkedin.
I met my tech co-founder at my university. We are pretty good friends for over the last 10 years. So, we started by brainstorming the idea and the business plan together. But being a good friend, although I asked but didn't force him to quit his high-paying job. This created a lot of trouble for the whole team. Eventually, the tech co-founder had family priorities and he left. It was a big shock and the remaining team somehow went through it. We pivoted and now I am again back to looking for a tech co-founder and landed upon this video :)
I hired an app development company to create my product. I’m not the tech savvy guy but I consider my self the hustler of the trio. I do believe finding a cofounder for my startup. But the hardest part is trusting the person.
Love this! I only disagree in having CTO pre MVP part. I guess depends on the business model but in general MVP can be sloppy as the purpose is to get client and initial funding. Then you will have a much better ground to have qualified Tech founder otherwise u might stuck with not so great tech founder for something that would have been amazing

Fortunately for me, with decent, good experience in sales and marketing, I am able to lead the ship for tech. Tech dev, UI design, UX flow, and product vision. This is also unfortunate that I am a 3-in-1 man that's holding the fort. I am not in a hurry to look for other co-founders, but will definitely grab them when the time comes. I have come across many CTOs who are unfortunately the first to abandon ship whenever trouble arises. So, yes, techies aren't reliable, because many of them know that they are highly sought after. Or some of them will think that they can create a product, and customer will chase after it. Life is not going to happen this way.
I was brought on as a co-founder because I got acqui-hired; my co-founder saw I was interested in our space, had started a company separately from him, and gotten some tangible success. As a result, he wanted to add me to his team and years later, the rest is history.
Myself too. I'm economist so I know already how to run a company. I'm the hipster and the hustler and dislike people. Lucky I'm at uni so a lot of cheap labour.

I'm the tech guy, 3y experience as a CTO. I want my own company now but it's really hard to do everything alone
I am a solo founder. I had a cofounder but I realized that I don’t need one. I need a partner though. A partner and a cofounder are two different things. Partner is an investor at its finest.
Good remarks! Welcome to discuss with other founders or Caya on Discord slidebean.com/startup-cafe some people have found their co-founders there, btw :)
Yeah, I'm kinda feeling this comment. I have formal training and experience in business, UX, and web development. I'm now self taught in CAD and learning about patent law. There's a curse to being a general-specialist though and a good partner would help cure some of that. Maybe after I'm finished building a business I can find one 😅
Same here. Solo founder. There is a very real risk of your product and brand be destroyed by nonsense founder politics. So many examples of founders splitting. I prefer to lose money than to lose my brand or product. Your brand contains your vision, if your product fails and you lose money just suck it up and move on.
I just respect your courage. How do you think of coming up with a subscription-based product for like a third of the world population when there is a lot of free alternatives. That's just a plan against all odds.
This has also become my start-up school learning experience. Great content! Yea it is difficult to find a good tech person and marketing person especially in this pandemic lockdown time which does not help, but watching your videos probably give me some ideas of where to start:) Being in New Zealand, a small country, great from start-up business. But extremely slow to grow not much of PR exposure here..
AND IT'S FOR ANY APPLICATION. THIS QUESTION SHOULD BE ASKED OF EVERY MEMBER OF YOUR TEAM NON TECHNICAL AND TECHNICAL IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW LETTERS ARE AFTER THEIR OR HOW DEGREES THEY HOLD OR WHAT INSTITUTIONS THEY ARE ASSOCIATED WITH. WHAT MATTERS IS DO THINK ALIKE, BREATHE ALIKE. DO YOU CIRCULAR BREATHE OR DEEP BREATHE.
Glad it was helpful! This new one from today may add some ideas: ua-cam.com/video/FnkTO5Ml34U/v-deo.html and also this one... ua-cam.com/video/Xb2QQpEmssQ/v-deo.html
I did my project alone, from nothing to the end (first beta). I want to participate in some contests (not for investment necesary), and I think that a one member team project doesn't look good. So I was considering adding a friend to the team, (I didn't say it him yet) he is a designer, he made my logo, but a little part of me (maybe the bad part) says that is some way I am giving him my idea, my full work like a present, just for making the designs. I don't know if it is a good idea or a one member team project doesn't look bad. I have to add that I am not good in design, mixing color and things like that, I would be the "hacker".
I have no idea about any of this and I dunno about corporate investors but personally I think a single person the hacker getting his app built to fully working condition on his own is great, don't sell yourself short.
Hi, I just watched all of your videos, I just wanted to thank for everything and wish you the best of lucks, and of course that when I need to make a presentation, I will so it with you.
Mine was crazy...searched and dated for months. Infact had to make few breakoff, after onboarding bad visioned person, who just hatch eggs and do nothing for weeks. I agree to the points you raised in deck, as am going through. One of the common mistakes first founder do, often, is to look for more experienced person as cofounder, look around, you may have a tech founder, much much younger and inexperienced than you but yes, he might move the balls
My question is do you even need a co-founder. I am currently in a phase where i did try to find tech co-founder but failed to have someone will to put in the same level of commitment i have.. So currently i sourcing the MVP through an agency that i have network connection with. I do understand that the later iterations may require more tech commitment but wouldn't it be better that we prove the business by traction and then i hire the dev in agency to join me. ?
Same question! How has the process of outsourcing your MVP been going? Sidenote: I personally know I would not have hit my milestones as quickly as I have if I had co-founders right now. Could change in the future.
@@yunsioh34 co founder are marriages n it's hard to find the right match.. but you are losing years waiting on things to turn ur way.. I prefer not to.. the outsourcing is going great.. the people are very good.. my MVP got built fast and 40% of what was quoted by agencies in US. :)
I've quite my cloud services operations role job (sys admin) to become a developer. One thing I find with looking for projects to join is the amount of people who have an idea and little else. My concern is 'their' level of commitment. Are they putting in the 40 hours a week I am. Or on a part time basis between 10 and 20. What tangible output are they generating. Where are the reams of paperwork of how the business model will work, the marketing and sales strategies. Where is the budget? It's quite frustrating when people say, you can have 50% but they have done 1%. It doesn't seem very equitable.
This is awesome! I've been thingking about the necesity to find partner(s) to developt my small business. I'm the hispter that always overwhelmed with 'hacker' and 'hustler' matters. The ideas of 'dating' to find partners is something I need to try. Thank you! 😀
I am in this position now, 14years experienced business guy with some tech-background. But I really want to concentrate on the business side and have someone worrying about the tech side. Any advice on where I can look will be greatly appreciated

I am sorry I completely missed the 'How' part which this video promised. Can you share 'How' to find a co-founder like which websites and resources to exploit to search for the best mate? Thanks!
Love your videos man, Keep it up! Very helpful for I also have a startup in the seed phase. I do have a questions and hoping this finds your why but.. What is your best advice or recommendations for founders who are working with an agency helping develop an app and launch it to the market? Continue work with the agency as it grows or have them transfer everything to start doing in house with team? Thanks again and looking forward to all your future videos!! 🔥
This is good info but there are the mavericks, those who can do 2 or more roles at once, in such cases they are a duo company not a trio, until funding arrives then they hire employees not co-founders. I think this is the sign a company will go past 100 million net worth. When they start as just a duo. Like Jobs and Wozi or Gates and Allen, Lary page and his buddy Brin etc This is an interesting phenomenon which I like to think about. Probably because doing 2 roles a once is a sigh of very high intelligence without the hustle or communicating the idea to another person who might not get the full picture. A solo founder or a successful multi million dollar biz would be the test of true entrepreneurship, Jeff Bezos
Shel Kaphan, just screwed up big time by not getting co founder status at Amazon. Without him would Amazon have got off the ground? Maybe but maybe not.
You are 101% on the money. I was a former VP at the commercial bank, without the Trio you simply is not venture-capital-bankable. Hey, I want to go to Chilie, too. Is there a WeWork space there, may be i start one. Haaa. Or call it ChillWork.
I am thinking about a new type of restaurants : eating-spots, in eating-spots, food keeps changing, chefs also rotate. this is opposed to current restaurants, thanks to this rotation of food and chefs, eating-spots are way more powerful than restaurants, along with that, there is an app, people vote for the food that will be cooked in the next days. menu is influenced by the live input of the people via an app
I am a developer and have built a product that will be ready to launch in the coming weeks. I need marketing and design cofounders and have no idea where to find them. If anyone who sees this wants to find out more, let me know and we can have a virtual beer and chat!
A great video by the way......But I have a question......what if I shared my business idea with someone in order to find a co-founder and initially that person refused it and then use my idea to make a fortune of his/her own by building his/her own company???......Can you please answer it.....
when someone doesnt have some friend from Technical background, where he can find technical co founder? and if we find someone, is it not risky to tell them about ur idea ? may be technical person doesnt agree with the person who gave idea but later he starts working on it without involving the person who brought the idea.
I dont need a co founder at all.. am programmer, marketing, business dude learning new thinks in all of them on a daily basis... I got a CTO but he is no co-founder... he is just a employee with some small shares (0,5%) So what I try to say is: nowdays many founders think they NEED a co-founder and are ending with giving away too much shares.... I mean yes a co-founder is good to have, but if you could do 90% of the tasks, why should you give away 50% of the company.... (80% of founders I know did it like that)
How that basic but crucial question is answered will let you know if y'all are the same species, LET ALONE IF Y'ALL CAN BUILD SOMETHING TOGETHER. THIS IS YOUR CORNERSTONE AND BEDROCK TO LIVING AND BREATHING BUSINESS AND STARTUP WITH EACH OTHER. I WORKED WALL STREET ALL MY LIFE NINETY PERCENT OF ALL MY CLIENTS AND CUSTOMERS CAME FROM THE FORTUNE FIFTY AND FORTUNE ONE HUNDRED GROUP.S.

Got it but the bit question, where can i find tech and design and marketing co-founder that is not already and employer and is free to join a startup project? On Facebook? On meetings? On incubators? Where???
If u already had product developed at your own solo expense, and you want to bring on 2 others as founder to fill in experience gaps, but they did not contributeto ideal or bootstrap, would you have them contribute a $$ amount for skin in the game to become a partner?
Love your videos! I just want to ask a question on finding co-founders. I am currently looking for a tech co-founder who will share my vision and work with me to make my idea come to life in to an online platform. Do you think it is a good idea to build a prototype webpage/app via online platform like SKETCH and pitch to potential independent software engineers/developers? Many thanks for your time and attention!
Hey Caya, how can you know the best way to found cofounder is to create a project together. That's how i meet my partner. But still, we cant found our CTO yet. Hope the best for us. Thanks for Sharing Caya!
If you are on here you are probably in the same position and I am... Looking for a cofounder! I am a sustainable product company that connects sustainable manufactures to sustainably conscious consumers and do it in three ways: pop-up markets, boutique style stores, and e-commerce. Anyone interested in talking comment below.
I'm looking to start a business revolving around an app that I want built. The issue I have is that I don't have any knowledge on how to code and I don't have capital as I currently live paycheck to paycheck, something I'd like to change in the future. I'm speaking to an app developer here in a couple of days to get a quote on how much it would cost me to have the apps built. I figured after going around and getting quotes I would include those in my detailed business plan under the cash flow to pitch to investors that help with start ups. I'm doing a ton of research and I happened to stumble across the subject of co founders. Should I continue to work on organizing the different people I'll need on my own ie: developers, investors, marketing and sales, etc. or should I go ahead and start looking for a co founder now? Honestly up until I stumbled upon the subject of co founders that hadn't even crossed my mind.
Thanks for this video! I’m wondering do you make potential cofounders sign NDAs? It seems like the cons outweigh the pros in terms of practicality. Thx
I hope it's okay to post this here as it's on topic. The P.A.I.C.E Team is looking for a committed CTO to join our startup team. We have already been in one accelerator in which we've refined our company goals. Without going into too many details, we want to streamline career exploration through technology. We're past the ideation phase and are looking to build our MVP. We are interested in recruiting a CTO living in the New Jersey/New York area only. If you're interested, feel free to reach out.
Consider if we have the same situation now as you had back then and we somehow managed to get a CTO somewhere one and a half year down the line after we started working for our product and now he joins us, should he be getting an equal split if No then how much should be his equity?
Hey I'm from Africa and I've been working on a business plan for over a year now and I've been able to draft a back end developer, ux designer and weve worked so hard to get all the designs, strategies and segmentation together.. Getting a front end programmer who is good has been some sort of issue and it's been dalying the mvp so please if you are a front end developer pls give me some time of your's so we could discuss and change the world Together
How much equity do you own at slidebean?. Or for example I am a product person and I recruit two guys to join me, one is designer and the other an engineer (fullstack). How much equity should I have judging the fact that is my idea and I am responsible for Funding and bringing in Investors plus I understand the market and customers better. How should the equity be split?.
😓me too.. no one wants to join.. even if they join you ...you will get a lot of frauds and nonsense type of people's. And no one will join you to build anything from scratch you have to pay them. Like employee. But all wants to become enterpenuers. Nobody even really understands the difference between entrepreneur and a buisness man or an employee. In today's life if you dont have anything to invest or to pay anyone you won't be able to start anything. And if you have no team no one will even help you in your fundings. I am also in that phase.. i am waiting and trying whatever i can from 5-7years but no chance. No one wants to join me to build anything from scratch. Everyone wants to get paid from the first day and also they needs your company shares and they wants to become enterpenuers. Its just nonsense. I cant even find a real enterpenuers even. As currently i have very bad financial condition now i even stopped going for studying anything anymore. And feels like my dreams will be like dreams always. Why was i born in this bad family conditions. Why everywhere there is only fake people's around. Feels like nothing can i do anything. Now i am really kind of loosing my hope..from everything. 😓
I am looking for a tech co-founder. It's to difficult to convince people not because they find my idea useless but because most of people don't want to work that much, or they are to scared. I guess i already made the mistake , i hired a freelancer to get my MVP done. I will be launching soon and i hope to find the right fit for the business.
If there's a tech person who wants to build the product for my startup idea and be cofounders then comment below! I'm serious about my ideas and goals.

I was brought on as a co-founder because I got acqui-hired; my co-founder saw I was interested in our space, had started a company separately from him, and gotten some tangible success. As a result, he wanted to add me to his team and years later, the rest is history.
Good story! In case you haven't, welcome to join other founders and Caya on Discord slidebean.com/startup-cafe :)

Great video, I'm in this very position now. I'm the "business guy" looking for a "tech guy". I often juggle whether I should just hire someone.
Myself too. I'm economist so I know already how to run a company. I'm the hipster and the hustler and dislike people. Lucky I'm at uni so a lot of cheap labour.
I'm the tech guy, 3y experience as a CTO. I want my own company now but it's really hard to do everything alone
Me too. I'm also currently looking for a tech co-founder. My background is in UX and Marketing
Keep the videos coming
Thanks Mohameth
Is this an idea that you are working on? I think get what you mean and am working on something parallel.
Right when I prayed for insight on this, this video comes up... WOW!
Shooting my shot, any tech-savvy person here with a commitment to follow Christ?
Thank you for the well-organized information. I appreciate it.
Thank you for watching! Good luck with your company!
I really love your channel. Thank you guys.

Hi need a cofounder

I did my project alone, from nothing to the end (first beta). I want to participate in some contests (not for investment necesary), and I think that a one member team project doesn't look good. So I was considering adding a friend to the team, (I didn't say it him yet) he is a designer, he made my logo, but a little part of me (maybe the bad part) says that is some way I am giving him my idea, my full work like a present, just for making the designs. I don't know if it is a good idea or a one member team project doesn't look bad.
I have to add that I am not good in design, mixing color and things like that, I would be the "hacker".
Wow! Thanks for sharing your journey!
I have no idea about any of this and I dunno about corporate investors but personally I think a single person the hacker getting his app built to fully working condition on his own is great, don't sell yourself short.
true getting a co-founder esp techie of our mindset is tough, i'm still searching
Good luck and we hope our tips help!
Hi, I just watched all of your videos, I just wanted to thank for everything and wish you the best of lucks, and of course that when I need to make a presentation, I will so it with you.
Wow! Thanks for the binge watch

Thanks a lot!
It helped me to rethink the partnerships I have had recently.
Insightful, indeed
Thank you so much for this video. I badly needed it!
You are so welcome!
Great information and advice! Thanks for sharing. I am subscribing to your channel right now!
So their “big” advice is to network. Wow. I could never have thought of that.
lol XD
Anime No tech people want to work for you for free (equity), when he could be making 6 figures in the free market.
Thank you for this video. This will help us with our business start up.

Like Jobs and Wozi or Gates and Allen, Lary page and his buddy Brin etc
This is an interesting phenomenon which I like to think about. Probably because doing 2 roles a once is a sigh of very high intelligence without the hustle or communicating the idea to another person who might not get the full picture.
A solo founder or a successful multi million dollar biz would be the test of true entrepreneurship, Jeff Bezos
Well, most of us aren't Jeff Bezos.
Shel Kaphan, just screwed up big time by not getting co founder status at Amazon. Without him would Amazon have got off the ground? Maybe but maybe not.
Fantastic insight my sir. I'm currently struggling with a co-founder and I've decided to go solo and automate.
Jeff bezos hired a programmer for prototype amazon. Although he knew how to code too but he was much focus on selling amazon and attending seminars
Love the content!
Thank you!

I am thinking about a new type of restaurants : eating-spots,
in eating-spots, food keeps changing, chefs also rotate.
this is opposed to current restaurants,
thanks to this rotation of food and chefs, eating-spots are way more powerful than restaurants,
along with that, there is an app,
people vote for the food that will be cooked in the next days.
menu is influenced by the live input of the people via an app

A great video by the way......But I have a question......what if I shared my business idea with someone in order to find a co-founder and initially that person refused it and then use my idea to make a fortune of his/her own by building his/her own company???......Can you please answer it.....
Good Q! Welcome to discuss with other founders or Caya on Discord slidebean.com/startup-cafe
when someone doesnt have some friend from Technical background, where he can find technical co founder?
and if we find someone, is it not risky to tell them about ur idea ? may be technical person doesnt agree with the person who gave idea but later he starts working on it without involving the person who brought the idea.
I dont need a co founder at all.. am programmer, marketing, business dude learning new thinks in all of them on a daily basis... I got a CTO but he is no co-founder... he is just a employee with some small shares (0,5%)
So what I try to say is: nowdays many founders think they NEED a co-founder and are ending with giving away too much shares....
Thx

Will do. Thx!

How much equity do you own at slidebean?. Or for example I am a product person and I recruit two guys to join me, one is designer and the other an engineer (fullstack). How much equity should I have judging the fact that is my idea and I am responsible for Funding and bringing in Investors plus I understand the market and customers better. How should the equity be split?.
😭😭😭😭😭 I'm still a single founder
hello what do you do
😓me too.. no one wants to join.. even if they join you ...you will get a lot of frauds and nonsense type of people's.
