    Another very clear methodical explanation, thanks. Wish I had this video before I self-taught myself these things a couple of years ago!
    I found it was also useful to grease/oil where the screw meets the plate (I was putting some serious force on the screws to raise & level something). Your use of tape is a v. good idea. I wore a hard hat just in case some part of the assembly went awry.

      Thanks for commenting, David. Good idea to put some grease on the plate.

    Is this post not upside down? I have always seen the adjustment screw at the top.

      I talk about that at 1:45. I'm using the recommendations from the manufacturer of the post. Screw on top for a metal beam, on the bottom for the situation in the video. It's been a while since I made the video (I often spend a lot of time checking facts and do my best not to give bad advice.), I kind of remember checking with another manufacturer & found the same instructions. There must be a reason, I'm sure a structural engineer could explain top vs bottom.

      good luck trying to stand on a ladder to adjust your jack post screws at a 12' height or higher.

    • @Know-How-Now
      @Know-How-Now  5 років тому +1

      I don't think they make 12' jack posts. The one in the video is almost maxed out. If I remember correctly, the new posts I installed were 90 inches.

      Don't see why it would matter. Like previous statement hard to adjust or possibly get out of the way on a step ladder.
