The Dr who just st gave me Eva shot said next is surgery to rather than physical therapy n didn't x-ray again in case it's broke. Also he said there's no limitations but I can't clean, shoot a basketball, it hurts when I swim. Even wipe normally lol I'm not getting surgery. I'm thinking the first shot I ever got did nerve damage

I disagree. I ruptured my achilles tendon and a sports doctor for a local college football team said surgery was the only way to heal. I decided to go NOn-op and he was pissed. After 7 months of rehab, i went for my final consultation with him and he said he was impressed. lol

I just had my 1st injections in both knees, my doc said basically it’s bone on bone 😬 I’m only 40... they’re getting really stuck or locked up at night to the point I couldn’t move them from that locked position. Of course I have osteoarthritis in hips & both knees. Honestly most all my joints have some form of arthritis. I really hope this helps, bc sometimes I’m home alone and can’t get out of bed for a long time without help the pain is just so bad.
I really appreciate your videos! When you both were stretching the neck back & forth at the same time , it made me laugh because it reminded me of an older movie “Night At The Roxybury” staring Will Farrell & Chris Kattan as brother’s in the car listening to “What Is Love” doing “dance moves” with their heads to the beat of the music...when y’all did that it seriously reminded me of that scene lol 🤣

Paul Katembo sorry I meant I have Osteoarthritis in both hips and arthritis.. I apologize for not being clear about that. Question..so you can’t get osteoarthritis in both knees or any one knee? Or is it unusual? I just know for sure I have osteoarthritis in both hips and arthritis In both knees and basically all my joints feel like I have arthritis, I was diagnosed with cervical arthritis and arthritis in my right shoulder as well. I’d say the injection in my knees hurt like h*** but it did provide some relief, but not getting the injections in my hips I feel I would’ve had a better outcome. I know that my hips and knees tend to hurt at the same time and lock up at the same time on one side most of the time ,sometimes in both sides. After the injections it helped not get such an intense lock up , and when I walk up & especially down the stairs wasn’t as bad. So I do believe the injections helped me. I think if I got them in my hips at the same as my knees it would’ve been better. Overall I’d recommend.
EDIT: just know everyone’s experience is different & I know I said it hurt like h*** but that’s not everyone’s case. See mine was done by my family doctor, I have fibromyalgia as well so things hurt worse for me sometimes. Most people don’t have issues with the injections. Hope this helps.

@@JessieLee_ Hi Jess, did you have any pain behind the knees? Also, did you have to go to an orthopedic knee doctor for the injections or will they do it at an urgent care? Will they do both knees on the same day? How many times per/year can you get the shots? Also, how long did it take to feel better? Days? Weeks?

    • @JessieLee_

PokerRun388 hello 👋 no my pain is on the sides of the knees & on the front. I always thought you had to go to a specialist, but my family doctor did both knees in his office. Not sure about urgent care tho. Unfortunately I don’t think they do that. But I’ve only had them done in my doctors office. It took days to get relief for me. I really hope this helps. ❤️

    • @JessieLee_
      @JessieLee_ 3 роки тому +4

PokerRun388 oh and it depends on your insurance company on how many you can get a year. I think they last about 3 months. Kinda new to this , as I’ve only gotten this done once by my family doctor. He did at 1st refer me to a specialist but for some reason I didn’t go , so he just did the injections.

Great info, gents. And yes, they do give cortistone injections in the neck. I had severe pain in my back right shoulder blade for a few months. Xray/MRI showed problems with my C4/C5. A local ortho did a floroscope-guided cortisone injection. There was a bit of cortisone flare but after 24 hours the pain was completely gone. Two years later and it is still good. Just wanted to add that.

the first thing in the morning suggestions are the BEST - true lifesavers - if one is post-op or midlife and older, jumping out of bed unmindfully can be truly dangerous. Taking that one full minute of breathing, toe-wiggling, gently moving to wake the body all over - quick prayer or meditation is worth so much! Then rock a bit in bed and carefully roll up and feet on floor and stand. Super value!
My Dad was in an auto accident and woke in the hospital in the night , not knowing what work had been done on him,, unconscious - He jumped out of bed to use the bathroom - fell - and an arm and jaw repair had to be redone! NOT fun! Poor Father. I made a note to myself, that day years ago to try to be better about that one. I am May born and we are sunshine Mary types - for good and ill - and may try to get up too fast. Thanks Bob and Brad for this great refresher! I have reached the PT part of a few recent repairs from an old accident whose badness catches me now that I am a senior. But I know that if I get back to my fitness routine and follow here for bit, I will be able to fully enjoy these miracle repairs.

Got a cortisone shot for severe plantar fasciitis. Next day, was better, no pain, then over-used it, pain came right back. Maybe moving is okay after a cortisone shot, but it's not good to overdo it just becuse you dont feel the pain because of the shot. Probably depends on the issue and what exactly constitutes overdoing it for the specific joint.

My 1st was 4 weeks ago but the doctor didn't tell me to rest for 48 hours and according to him my ankle "gobbled" it up when the next day from too much activity. I woke up the next day after shot and my ankle felt the best in weeks. I could walk and walk I did. The following day I was right back where I was.
Now everything I am reading says ankle joint injections should be 6 weeks apart not 4. I had terrible inflammation and pain in my ankle. it was totally debilitating. Today is day two and I am NOT going to walk on it. I hope I am OK with injections only 4 weeks apart. What do you think?
These were my first injections ever.

I'm not a Dr, I've had injections. The lidocaine injections are what causes immediate relief, and can last a few days. The pain comes back when the lidocaine wears off. The steroid takes a week or a few weeks to work. I went back for a checkup after my back injection and the dr gave me another lidocaine injection to help the pain and to give the steroid more time to take effect. I just had a shoulder injection today. The lidocaine is what is responsible for my greatly reduced pain.
I would not like the verbiage your dr used. If you were given lidocaine, ask for only that injection to give the steroid more time to work.

That sucks Martin! I realize that was a year ago... how are you doing now? Was the sleeplessness due to pain, like it didn't alleviate your pain enough? I had my first shot today. I have read about some of the dangers. I'm terrified of damaging my immune system and then getting COVID. I'm assuming the fever was because you had an infection.... ugh, that sounds just awful in general. I already have depression and I've really been spiraling ever since my accident which coincided with the beginning of the pandemic. (I have frozen shoulder) I think my exacerbated fear about everything happening in the world really did me in. If I had injured myself at any other time I bet I would have healed no problem. I wake up every day and just have really dark thoughts. I obviously don't have anyone to talk to about it, or I wouldn't be typing a YT comment that probably no one will ever see. I eventually got out of the frozen shoulder but I still have limited range of motion and pain when I move past my comfort zone, and a lot of cracking and crepitus. It's just never going to be normal again. But at least my arm is mostly functional for most things in my daily life, and I can sleep again. I have to try to be as grateful as possible.
One of the hardest things, I think, is not being totally sure what's good or bad for you. The uncertainty of how much to do exercises and when to rest, etc.

Plus, one lidocaine injection into the hip. They only worked for 2-4 weeks. Mind you, I’ve had two hip surgeries (2011 & 2012), and started having issues again, last year. If I walk for exercise or in general, I have pain. Riding a bike on any incline is a no. Doctors won’t perform arthrogram MRI w/contrast, because the first MRI showed no tear, but this same garbage happened when I first hurt my hip, and it took two years to get an arthrogram MRI w/contrast to reveal I had a tear and bone Spurs.

I pretty much have learned to deal with it the best way I can. Such as sitting in an office chair to cook my daughter dinner. I have to take small breaks while doing house work or laundry. I can’t work anymore bc I can’t stand to be on my feet too long bc of the unbearable back pain. I worked in the medical field for 18 years and that’s all I know and love. I have herniated disc on L5 S1 and bulging disc on L4 L5 orthopedic suggest epidural injection . I got scared and told them no. I don't think my herniated disc on L5 S1 would benefit at all.

I had one in my right foot. Now, I’m feeling pain in what I’m thinking is the tendon under my foot. Never felt that before.

I am a 70 year old retired coal miner and 4 weeks ago a consultant gave me a steroid injection into the muscle of the torn ligament I have in my left groin but it did not work and I have to now go and see a pain specialist to have a more powerful injection under anaesthetic but what I want to know will my torn ligament heal on its own or do I have to have this other injection or is there anything I can take to help it heal like any herbs or supplements.

He mentioned "meniscus problem" at the 1:11 minute mark. I have a torn meniscus in both knees. The injections worked for me.
