- Inspired by boat buddies @CalicoSkiesSailing, Ben and Alie decide to fit out their boat with a Selden bow sprit and a light wind "Code D" (gennaker style sail with more upwind capability) on a rolling furler! Special thanks to @SaltandTar for putting in another shift on Kiana as we finish our preparations to cross the Pacific Ocean from Mexico to French Polynesia. Thanks to @PrecisionSailLoftVictoria for the beautiful new Big Blue and @TotalBoat for the continued support! We have bonus content on Patreon where we do a review of our new installation after putting some miles on it.

Great video guys! The entire team loves working with you on all your sail projects. I'm sure you changed the way the furler was spinning so the UV Protection was on the correct side.... LOL...
Confirmed...haha
Hi, how much longer is generally a gennaker luff length in relation to the straight length between attachment point down and up the mast if you want to use such a furler system as a top-down furling system (luff length not attached to the anti-torsion cable)?
What an upgrade! Love the color you chose for the sail, too!
Thanks guys! Total
Boat epoxy worked like a
Charm :)
Hey, a shout out from a couple from Vancouver Island.
We left in 2016, currently in Thailand, 43,000 nautical miles behind us and expect to keep the boat in Barra when we’re done our circumnavigation, we loved Mexico
We fly a Code “C” as our primary sail, love it.
Great episode guys! Love the story telling
Alie your storytelling has soooo improved over the years!! Love following your adventures. Bill from Boston.
Thanks Bill from Boston!!
I just love her killer smile and their quick wit, adorable couple
My black Labrador Mac misses seeing Bruce. I have explained that sailing on the West Coast of Scotland is not like Mexico and he would hate the heat and an ocean crossing without a beach? He doesn't seem to understand but I forgive him, he is Canadian after all 😀. Looking forward to the crossing, our season is well underway. Good luck.
Nice sail guys. What a fun adventure. Cheers
OMG! You, ‘ding’ed’ and that made me soooo happy 😊. Thank you 🙏.
Another great improvement guys. I am truly very glad that you have gotten all these things done and you are ready to go. The next comment is not meant to be negative. I shake my head all the time at how many things on a sail boat, or any boat, can wear out, break or what❤🙏ever. You have handled so many things that you are prepared to handle just about everything. Love ya. Stay safe.
Thanks Steve!!
Good Canadian Kids - using their resources - heads up going into the corners - with their new set up - kudos all around!!!

!Hello! Crew Breaking Waves.
Very good idea to add a Selden bowsprit and a nice furler, very good job, you can even attach the hitch of an asymmetrical one for donkey or butterfly ear navigation. Brilliant! 👌 CONGRATULATIONS!
🌬️🌊⛵
Woohoo!😻🥳
Great sail for the trip, especially with the uv strip!
That's a very nice sail...
Hey guys, watch your anchor roller for up lift/twist issues as the code loads up.
Safe passage on the big trip . I am stuck on Lake Ontario
It is way cool they way you guys are committed to Kiana. Congratulations on the new sail!
thanks for sharing
Your best vid since the bikini snare! Thank you!
She's beautiful! 🥲
I think Alie got it right (again). Looks like it should furl the other way round. Looking forward to your passage episodes.
❤❤❤
😀😀👍👍❤❤
🤠👍
Shoot ... too far. lmao
Why is it that every time a mask has to be scaled Garrett shows up out of the blue
Because he's the best!
When are you going to stop working on the tender and buy a real boat??
