Great idea with the card board! A few years back I had wanted to do a scalloped design underneath my crown molding and couldn’t find any stencil….so I found a thin card board birthday banner that had scalloped edges from dollar tree. I traced it out on my wall with a piece of chalk and filled in the same way you did. Once the paint was dry I taped around the bottom edges and placed up paper lace doilies. I then went in with my main color of my wall and used a small foam dabbler to lightly pounce over the doilies. Once I was done with that I took a small detail brush and went over the outline of the scallop edge with a water based silver paint.
It came out beautiful and looks like lace ! I love your idea with the cardboard as that was my biggest challenge was finding the right size.
I searched various craft stores for a lace scalloped stencil and couldn’t find anything. And then my day dreamy ideas started … The room isn’t finished as far as my other plans was to do a lattice design inside the boxes on the wainscoting. Which is already marked out but haven’t had a chance to paint as I broke my shoulder and physical therapy is taking up a bit of time, it’s helping..some days are better than others and I have a lot of blessings to count as I’m looking forward to the arrival of another grandson!
