I died my hair "Amaranth Purple" today...left in for 30mins and it came out black with a tinge of plum purple sheen. Brad's is so beautifully light compared to the abomination on my head right now, lol

Avalon Dinunzio it probably was darker irl. I have used color similar to this shade, and in sunlight or florescent it's like bright ass purple but in regular lighting its super dark, nearly black.

I'm just going to say this once on this very old video, but almost everything you think looks bad on you actually looks really good. I love this color, its not even remotely black or even very dark. I thought it looked nice. I've been adding a straight violet to my dark brown hair, that comes out as dark purple - covers the grays, and coats some sections as lowlights. If he thinks his hair came out dark & black, I wonder what he'd call mine? A black hole, that sucks in all light?

I think he's just naturally drawn to lighter colors, which is why he thought the purple looked so bad. Me? I am LIVING for it! But I understand him not liking it.
I may very well look good in crimson red or even black hair, but I absolutely _love_ my naturally ash blonde hair to death and pretty much the only hair color I want to wear. One of these days, I might do something crazy with it (sakura blossom-blonde hair with black stripes of varying thickness scattered throughout it, or maybe just hidden pops of hot pink), but I'm just not gonna sway from medium ash blonde any time soon. It's my "safe" color; I always feel "at home" with it.

I don't understand why you're so upset with the color. Sure it's not what you wanted, but it could've been a gnarly brown or pukey green color.
MacabreMandy yeah I’ve seen these videos go way worse. Especially when neutralizing colors are mixed in like that green. That green could have made it way worse. Purple is the least of your worries when it could have came out a dingey brown.

Hahah Brad literally just did everything he tells people not to do. Classic hair stylist move. Tried to bleach the pink off his head, then immediately throw assorted color on porous hair✔️ Mix random colors in various amounts ✔️ Slap on head with no rhyme or reason ✔️ No gloves ✔️ Rub color in like shampoo ✔️ Miss a spot completely ✔️ I’m dying 😂😂

Side note: I'm crying inside because I JUST used Feria pastel lavender and my effing hair is BROWN!! I've spent 20 years escaping brown and it found me...
Krystal Paul just an FYI from my experience using purple on my blonde highlighted hair it’s always made the roots turn a dark almost brown color until it washes out so if your hair isn’t bleached from root to tip beforehand it will show up looking brown that does usually get less intense as the dye fades so don’t worry too much, although I haven’t used Féria in years so I can’t remember how long it takes for the color to fade out.

Sar Bear Hey I wish I had known this info beforehand. It was a level 8 at the root and a 10 at the ends. That took a lot of work because I started with a box-dye 5 red! Sigh. I'm gonna try to throw some pink on and bleach the crap out of it again if that fails.

The hair color is not bad, but you intentionally avoided styling it to make it look worse, at least that is what it looks like to me. Lavender tones are good. Just style it and make something out of it.

Bruh what are you talking about? I am absolutely LIVING for this hair. To me, purple is a very versatile color. Not only that, but the varying shades complement the earrings you’re wearing in this video, as well as provide a nice contrast to the pastel of the jacket. That all being said, I think that you could’ve made that hair color work. Of course, it’s your hair, and you should wear what you feel comfortable in.

The darkness was probably a combination of the green and teal as the green cancels out the pinks and makes a dark mass with them.

All the blue tones canceled out the green. And the silver added the metallic sheen when it was wet. The silver also aided in the darkening effect.
Also the majority of the colors had a blue or a red base. That’s why it turned purple.

So basically mixing lots of blue tones and lots of red tones will make purple, and mixing that to purple will make purple, adding green will make it less vibrant, and the grey will also change the tone
It would have turned out gross if you added more greens or yellows to the mix. This is a pretty purple tone IMO
