@Steven Prime: The reason so many people in America and around the world put down President Trump is because it's too easy to do. There isn't anything intellectual or presidential about him. Considering what America does to other countries, it's nice to see it take a huge hit, hit after hit. You get what you deserve.

Both parties have vied for the 30-40 percent reservoir of racist voters, arguably the largest voting block until most recently. Secondly, the election of Obama is what re-energised and sharply focus the Republican party to actively seek out an overt racist in order to pull the country back towards the lean racist racist path it has always been on.

He is a revisionist Republican. The U.s. has always loved dictators. GWB is a war criminal, let 9/11 happen (asleep at the wheel at best). Started wars on a lie (also Afghanistan), favors to pharma, no child left behind is a joke, tried a coup in Venezueal for the Koch brothers when thing were going really well there ... Oil prices were high and Chavez spent the money on the poor people. He had clearly won the elections, and had wide support, when he was kidnaped the masses took it to the street and they freed him after a few days. The plotters got very lenient treatment but they unveilled the U.S. financing. Bush and Cheney left them alone after that, they were busy with setting the Middle East on fire. torture, secret spying on citizens, Gitmo, ignoring the Taliban that soon wanted a peace deal after a few months, must have been still in 2002 (instead the U.S. military or the letter agencies threw money around - when someone would rat out a "Taliban". That is how they filled Gitmo. ....I am just getting started. Not to forget the stolen election of 2000 (with help of govenor Bush), and I am not sure the 2004 was in order as well. the Russians attack the elections ? as if the Russians were needed to undermine the integrity of U.S. elections. (I am not slamming Dems because he is a R shill).
They hope Biden will win, they know he will not be able to turn the economy around. If Trump wins they cannot evade accountability by the voters and it will be ugly. For the party. Worse, the next Dem could be a progressive. They will blame Biden. Any helpful response would have to be like that of FDR: higher taxes for the rich, stop the regime change wars, and concentrate on domestic investment and ramp up welfare (on a broad base: like SS, unemployment, ..... that was not only for the poor). Biden's handler will not allow that and Biden would not want to do that. so it will be even worse than under neoliberal Obama. these standard Republicans hope in 2024 they are set up for winning, with the usual mainstream neocon / neoliberal types. Bush, Rubio, ....

He was spot on that Black women would turn the tides in 2020! Good call! The reverberations of which is still being felt.

The Movement for a Peoples Party convention is August 30
The American governmental system is broken. As long as you have lobyist for big corporations calling the shots. The voters won't have representation.
Really interesting and informative segment. Thankyou D.N.
the cult
Fascinating.
Racism is in BOTH parties. It's a ONE party system and NOT for the people but the billionaire oligarchs.
Good for you!!
The Tea Party? KKK
I'm here in Texas and last year oh so, George W held a bike rally of disabled Iraqi war vets at his ranch, I watched in stunned amazement at the horrific irony of that. The fool responsible for their injuries sent over there with a lie, seen smiling riding his bike along the trails. It's angering me to no end of these Republicans who are now coming out of the woodwork, where were they four years ago? They are the true enemies.
Really fascinating stuff here. And yeah 4 years ago I’d be criticizing his complicity w the agenda of neo cons but guys let’s be real here, at least we were capable debating those peeps. If you can’t recognize that the shift the gop has taken in the last 12 years hasn’t completely left reality nor represents an existential threat to any semblance of a free and healthy society than frankly you have lost your mind and are incapable of promoting a solution
Stuart Stevens for U.S. President!💚💛💚💛
To the politicians, pundits, and others who hold forth on the plight of People of Color in America: When listing the oppressed non-white cultures, once or twice a year please mention Natives.
We are still here, we are still being dealt the short end of the Star-Spangled Stick, we are still being targeted for financial repression, educational repression, voter suppression, abduction, Rape, and Murder.
Every once in a while, remind folks.
Thanks! Dohiyi!

Love is IT... the opposite of republicans.
I retired right on time. I would not want that letter of appreciation from #45 & Company. I pray for my brother's and sisters who are still in the armed forces during this Petty little bully's regime.
it is good to know there are conservatives of heart and insight ... I am a fiscal and monitary conservative ... I am a conservative of american ideals of equality and justice for all ... I am a conservative of moral and ethical behaviours ... I switched from being a life long republican to a democrate when Reagan and his trickle down economics came along and it only became more ... neocon/fascist ... racist ... and spun since then ... it was under Reagan that the term "spin" entered into the political dialogue and neocons in the republican parti defended it then ... and now they just lie and agree to lie ... the republican parti as it is now constructed is no place for liberals ... conservatives ... the moral ... the ethical ... the rational ... the whole souled or just innocent and good ... facts are not welcome ... science is not welcome ... common sense is not welcome ... it is a cult of Trump ... without merit or good intention ... maybe in 2024 it will be the democratic socialists and the democratic conservatives squaring off against each other ... while we the people reap the whirlwind in either case ... and speaking of global warming and whirlwinds ... I'll huff and puff and blow your house down ...
Right on Lincoln Project, right on!
He is fine considering the low point in this republican party today.
Stuart Stevens, a rare insight; black folks are conservative & very religious, GOP turns them off with their racism ...
This guy doesn’t realise that he was part of the problem
I think he realizes it. I also think he's not apologizing for it.
Repiglicans as inhuman psychos predating Drumpf, it's kind of amazing at least some have the capability of seeing it's going to new extremes (even for it) under Drumpf!
ResistEvolve I like that....Repiglicans 😂
Have you read his book?
WOW! He certainly sees it exactly as it is! I agree, in his idea that the religious right will be falling and failing even further!!!
because they live a lie and GOD is TRUTH.
The enenmy of our enemy is our friend,
The Lincoln Project 👍🇺🇸❤🗽
I have this ebook on hold at my local library. There are 26 people ahead of me in the que. I can't wait to read what Stevens has to say.
Pushback Amy
A nation divided, and a family divided.
Greetings from Guadalajara. There is little difference between the arrogance and pomposiry of Trump, the idiocy of Bush, evil of HW and Reagan, and the pretentiousness of Clinton.
It is the Ruling 0.1% Class that needs you to remain scared and hateful of other group(s) of people in order for you to remain compliant and subservient to their parasitic needs regardless where you live.
They would like you to believe they are the honorable capitalists, but they are not. The Ruling 0.1% Class are the true oppressors in this sad story.
This is all just a smokescreen.
If the Lincoln Project has unlimited funds to spend on advertising, then this $4 million Republican ad campaign against the current "sitting" president looks rather limiting to me.🤔
XE1GXG: I agree with you completely. Greetings from a Scotsman in the Niagara Peninsula.
@Steven Prime: Is this one of those American psychiatric maxims that was created by a cocaine addicted professional? I like to think I am self-aware, never drinking booze or doing drugs, but I have a hard time getting through a lot of American content because it's too pornographic.
@Steven Prime: The reason so many people in America and around the world put down President Trump is because it's too easy to do. There isn't anything intellectual or presidential about him. Considering what America does to other countries, it's nice to see it take a huge hit, hit after hit. You get what you deserve.
@Steven Prime: I see you have a deep understanding of this "effect". What you describe also happens if you are stoned and turn on a wah-wah pedal manufactured by Crybaby.
This is why I like this show, they aren't afraid to have on people from the opposing side....interviewing these folks isn't "selling out", it's called unbiased journalism.
That being said, not many from the other side dare go on this show.
Can you do a story on who is buying homes? It doesn't make sense that homes are going up. Is there currupt loan fraud going on?
Follow the money! Hindsight is 20/20
Rich people are buying homes. Duh. The proverbial fat cats have been getting HUGE during this crisis
@Steven Prime There is no such thing as Democrats in America. Citizens? Yes. Politicians? No. Zero democrat politicians. Our "Democrats" are Republicans, and our "Republicans" are fascists
Steven Prime Said by the inherently stupid and irredeemably vacuous.
How could anyone think there is corrupt loan fraud going on when you have Trump as your leader? (who is also known as the Corrupter In Chief).
"When any political movement loses all sense of self and has no unifying theory of government, it ceases to function as a collective rooted in thought and becomes more like fans of a sports team."
- Stuart Stevens
Nice report. His terminology is interesting. Kudos saying Asian AMERICAN. Very rare people make the distinction. But hispanic is complicated in light of latinx.
I find Hispanic jarring anytime I hear it. It's very East Coast. West of the MS, it would be regarded as saying "oriental."
@Sebastian Thor Except it comes out of a borderlands movement and has a specific sociopoloitical goal. So, no, Latin is not preferred and no, it's not made up by white libs. Although, being a bit older, I still use Latino (rather than non-gendered Latinx) and haven't seen a lot of pushback among peers.
@Sebastian Thor The way I interpret it is Latino heritage from many many more countries than one can say in a soundbyte or a generalization.
Very interesting and instructive, notwithstanding the historical "papering over" of certain things, that folks on this thread picked up on. I was glad to see him come on. Make it open. Show that we will listen to all sides.
I hope he learns a bit about leftist theory. He seems so entrenched still, sadly, but he's gotten the picture enough to right a damning book, so... More centrist than the Trumpites.
Historical, balanced, objective, factual reporting... well done Amy and team.
Claudia is literally helping to save democracy. Go her!
IT'S TIME THAT THE PARTY GETS REMADE WITH THE Lincoln Project THEY ARE THE BETTER PART OF THE PARTY
Just because you are against Trump, does not mean you are a political genius.
@David Renton: It's one thing to be stupid, it's another to be devious and think you're not stupid.
Democracy Now! is such an important show. Who will replace Amy and Juan when they're off the air? We need another show like this one, or a continuation with the same style of objective journalistic full-court press. Good stuff.
"It's extraordinary. I never would have thought it possible."
You CREATED it.
I would vote for a can of baked beans before I would vote for Trump, far less harmful to global warming
Lol. You are not so bright, are you?
Sheep

He's from Mississippi, so is it worth again considering the separation of these backassward southern states from the United States of America.
I'm sure there is a more than sufficient number of US territories that would gladly step up to replace them so we don't have to change the number of stars on the current US flag.
What do you think?🤔
@David Renton no kidding.
This 1-party 2-candidate political system really sucks dogs balls.
@@hitreset0291 You are just a smokescreen.
@David Renton 🤣🤣🤣🤣 FUCKING NEITHER
This guy is of course mostly right in what he is saying. I would differ from him on a couple of points though. Firstly, race has ALWAYS been the elephant in the room in American politics.
Somebody gets it finally... Trump wants to be a mini Putin. So sad!!
This man really nailed it. He said turnout of the Black vote, especially woman will determine the cheeto's fate. What a prediction!!!!
Trump: "If we have democracy, I'm going to lose. If we have law & order, I'm going to jail."
YAY!
He is right. Just check Republican Strategist Lee Atwater 1981 interview
The Lincoln Project has its own problems...
it goes. i don't subscribe to their politics. i do subscribe to taking down this madness going on
This is all just a smokescreen.

Claudia Conway gives me hope for the future.
Welcome Mr. Stevens... another rat flees the sinking ship of state.

Right into the arms of Amy Goodman! Trump's horrible. But not to the expense of coddling GOP rats here!
@Diego B The let Republicans speak, Yang was NOT invited (I think he shamed them). AOC was also NOT invited. She was invited by _Sanders_ - since he had won enough delegates it is tradition that someone will "nominate" him for president. (It is a formality). He had two slots of 60 or 90 seconds. he gave one to a union guy and the other to AOC.
@Diego B Tells you everything about the party. They want to become the Republicans of the 1990s before they got completely crazy. Of course the types like Bush, Romney also want to return to that. The same economic policy but with not quite as open racism. and with better manners.
Very interesting.:)
Trump is a great man and president I'm Native American and I approve of this message
@Peggy Wiley is that you Elizabeth Warren fake Pocahontas
@The Reluctant Hierophant BETA
tony fat Trump is a great man? How can one admire someone who cheats on thei spouse? Who lies every single day? A man who cannot take responsibility when things go wrong and always blames others? Who denied that C19 is a serious virsus? A man who bankrupted his businesses but walked away with $$ of his friends in his pocket? You admire a man who makes fun of a handicapped reporter! And walks away from reporters who ask a legitimate question and calls them “ fake news”! A man who thumbs his nose at laws of our country! Yeah, Trump is really great! Not by my definition!
Race and racism is at the core of American beginning with the people indigenous to this land; Native Americans!
Remember people, what's done in dark WILL be revealed in Light!!!
That's the law of nature for you. Thank GOD for truth!:)
I like what he is saying
If the Republican party is third place in California, I'd like to know who's in second place. Is there a significant third party in California?
I never thought I'd live to see the day where Amy Goodman would invite a George W Bush propagandist on Democracy Now to let him uncritically repeat this garbage.
Very stimulating interview. Worth watching, is like most of "Democracy Now!" Amy Goodman is a good interviewer.
Sheesh he speaking the truth
That is the reality of America now
Amy ur one of the few commentators tht I trust too present topics tht are both insightful and meaningful.
However, I think Stuart's interview should have been a 2 or 3 part series, cuz you cut him off abt 3 different times and changed the direction of the conversation before he summed up the message he was sharing.
Next time... pls let tht man talk. He clearly has insight tht we all need to hear.
God bless this organization
Insightful facts
Even the Children see. They know a piece of Crap when they see and hear one. Embarrassing her own Daughter,
Ouch, that had to hurt.
Finally someone spells it out. The GOP is on the ropes. It is time to end this fight. See to it that everyone registers and votes.
My grandfather was for many years the head of our county's Republican party and he was also a member of the KKK. My entire family is still Republican and they are racists. My mother was not a Republican for which I am grateful!
I wish Democracy now had more viewership because you really cut through the crap
The American government is controlled by the same people regardless which side is in the seat.
Like Frankenstein, he is appalled by the monster HE created.
I didn't know Ryan O'Neill was a Republican strategist.
It's taken a toll on him.
good episode!
Lorraine Hansberry called it in 1959 with her famous drama, A Raisin in the Sun.
Well it’s a good thing we have another republican party he can turn to. He’ll be welcome in Pelosi’s party, and being a republican, he’ll probably have a main speaking spot on lock.
Yeah, obviously. Is this revelation somehow novel?
He was spot on that Black women would turn the tides in 2020! Good call!
However, he conveniently forgot about the war on drug which was, in my opinion, a declaration of war on Blacks/Browns and the poor to keep them from voting since one of the salient rights as citizens these groups have is stripped or curtailed once they have a conviction. The reverberations of which is still being felt.
When has voting ever beat the amount of money spent on presidential elections
