- In this video, Step by step demonstration of design of inset-feed microstrip antenna at 2.4 GHz is presented. This video also explain the E-plane and H-plane of the microstrip antenna. The 3D and 2D radiation patterns in terms of E-field and gain is plotted. Design equations for the patch and feed are given here in step by step manner www.iexplainal...
Thank you very much for your tutorial design and set up Patch Antenna. Could you show me how to set up the gain pattern of the Monopole Antenna? What is the best angle to set up for the best Gain in Monopole Antenna?
It helped me a lot as a beginner. Thank you for the video.
Thank you 😊
Thankyou madam, very clear and able to handle hfss after seeing your video
Thanks a lot ☺️
i like this video , whenever i stuck i like to watch this, thank u so much mam.....
Thank you so much. You've really helped my finally year project work, really appreciate your effort.
Thank you.. Glad to help.
Excellent video, very interesting and useful. Thanks a lot madam
very much appreciated for lost kids like me.
Thank you mam this was very helpful, especially the E field pattern and E plane.
How many from PDEU😊🎉
Hi madam, how can we find the feed position in the patch, and impedance at any place in patch
It is clear video thanks. But some questions in my mind about calculations
how did you calculate the dimensions of feedline, patch that you've named cut and for port?
Thank you for making this. Helped me. How would I calculate the sized for 5.8GHz?
Thank you, you are great
mam, What is the calculation for inset cut size ?, please explain.
Check description
Thanks for the nice video! The calculated gain is +2 dB. As this is a passive device shouldn't it alway be negative?
very nice and neat explanation mam. Thank you.
You are welcome 🙂
Mam could you plz elaborate e-plane and h-plane concept and why dud you take phi zero to zero while calculating gain. Any help would be appreciated
Thank you mam. It is very helpful. Mam, how to calculate x size of feed, x size y size of cut and postions of cut? Can you help me?
İ wonder so
Madam, How to calculate cut (position values,X size and Y size values)
how you calculate the width and length of ground of microstrip antenna
Thank you 10000 times,, you rae just great :*
im trying to simulate it with ansys . When i try to substract like 8.20 the substract option is not available , did you guys faced with that problem ?
I want to calculate y and W of inset feed in microstrip patch antenna , show me th methode please
How can we calculate the length and width of cut portion, i.e the 50 ohm point in patch
Maam , can you pls design Microstrip antenna for rf energy harvesting at 2.4 ghz on cst microwave studio.
could you help me to creat a radom for my monopole antenna ??
Please
Hello, thanks for sharing your knowledge, it will be possible for you to make a video of the analysis and simulation of a balun, especially the one used in an application note from Texas Instruments SRWA640E in section 4.2, well if you have time and thank you very much. You have a new Venezuelan subscriber and greetings from my beloved Venezuela.
Mam can we take ground length and width any random number or are there some equations for that?
It very clear, Thank you
Could you share the MATLAB code please ?! it for training purposes
Thanks, madam. I followed exactly your parameters but I get resonance at 2.2 GHz, by reducing the patch length by 0.85 mm I get resonance at 2.4GHz, but why I am not getting the same results as yours at your design parameters? What settings should I change? Thanks,
It depends upon version of the software and other parameters such as computer configuration etc. That's why we go for validating the results after fabrication.
@@RFDesignbasics ok thanks
@wajid - Have you noticed a difference in the port assignment ? Lumped port on my version of HFSS does not ask me to draw a line, was that the case for you as well ? I saw a 2.2GHz resonance with default patch length.
I actually found out what the problem was - I was using a terminal solution type, instead of the modal used in this video.
Thank you very much madam.
How do you know that at this point the matching is 50 ohm
You can follow this link for the design equation and calculation. I have assumed Rin as 225ohm for this case. www.iexplainall.com/2020/05/design-equations-of-rectangular.html?m=1.
pls provide answer to this!
E field pattern for me isnt like yours.. all lines vertical for me.. any possible reasoning for this? have done the same steps as yours..
Check the settings again.
@@RFDesignbasics I am also getting a Global message which says "The application could not resolve the IP address of this machine: remote analysis and remote distributed analysis will not work".... any suggestions on this? will it affect the working of hfss...
No, this won't affect.
how did you find Rin...u assumed 225 ohms and then u said we have to do return loss and optimize yo ...i dont know how to do that...can u pls explain that part?
It's generally between 200-250 ohms. By changing the position of inset feed you may optimize the design to get best impedance matching.
Okk thanks for reply
How did you calculate feed line diamention
thank you so soo much it's amazing work...
Any ideas on improving the maximum gain?
There are many methods. You may use FSS or AMC or metamaterial.
@@RFDesignbasics on loading meta is the same simulation is to done, or not? PEC for meta?
Demasiado bueno gracias por compartir tus conocimientos
Thank you for the video. Very useful. Just one question: I did everything as in the video, but the graphs don't show when I run Rectangular plot or 3D polar plot. What did I miss?
Check whether simulation run successfully? You may send screenshot through email provided in about section
@@RFDesignbasics hello! I sent the screenshot . Thank you for being ready to support.
How did you know the gap while inserting the feedline at edge of the patch.
R u asking about the inset cut size?
@@RFDesignbasics yes
Check the link in the description. Formula is given to find the depth of cut
Ma'am, would you please share the research paper related to dimensions of this video project?
Thank you.

How to calculate 50ohm point on the patch to match with Transmission line mam
It's generally very high impedance (200 to 250 ohms) due to open circuit. As you go towards the middle it will become 0 gradually. So take a random value between 200 to 250 ohms and calculate the position using equation provided in antenna theory books. Finally optimize the position using HFSS for best matching (low return loss).
How do we calculate the conductances G1 and G12 to find Rin (y=0) mam
This calculation will be tedious. Simply use the HFSS to optimize.
Mam can I get the complete simulated file
give the link of this software to download please
Thank you!
what is the length of ground or dieletric constant
Dimensions shown in the video
What is the function of using "inset" in microstrip rectangular patch ?
To match impedance
I am getting frequency at 2.2GHz but I want 2.4GHz. What I have to do now??
Please tell me.
Reduce the length of patch.
How plot density
17:02 E plane H plane
Very nice.
madam how i know the value of directivity. please tell me
You can plot the directivity in HFSS
Ma'am how we can change x axis and Y axis values in s11 graph ?
Click on the X Or Y axis to get option
@@RFDesignbasics by changing window width ???
Still unable to to change its values need your help 🙏
@@vikasbhardwaj6002 By changing limits
thanks for vidio
