Here she sings her powerful lament about the ancient city of Timbuktu, under assault by religious fundamentalists:
THIS IS MY LAND
This is Timbuktu, my home land,
Where the children are mourning from gloom,
This is my land, Timbuktu «the Maliba»,
The land of love,
The land of warmth,
The land of dignity,
Here is my Nation…
Why are we crying?
Why are the children crying?
Why are the young crying?
Cause of unfairness,
Cause of violence,
Fearing the future…
Here is my home
Stop crying
Cause no matter what, Timbuktu will remain

I don't know the language she is used, but I am moved in my imagination, crossing the Sahara to Timbuktu. I am listing while crying from the deep of my soul😢 Peace, love and unity shall be among Africans. Love u from Ethiopia🇪🇹

This woman has got swag. She is full of soul.Reminds me of Erika Badou. She is so elegant.
I could feel the song in my soul.Africans are beautiful & hardworking people, unfortunately their leaders & government is letting them down.
It is not just on the continent of Africa. People all over the world are being tricked into believing these religious leaders. They are giving up their hard earned money, their freedom, and self determination for a ticket to Heaven when they die. All they are doing is making these so called religious leaders more wealthy, and robbing themselves and their family of a future. The World needs to wake up and throw off the shackles of religion. It is the only people everywhere can truly be free.
Not to mention almost every powerful nation and even empires of old using Africas resources and more importantly their people for their own countries development. Truly sad
Beautiful song also singing compliment from kerala lndia.
@@sahirmohammedhaneefa5514 she isn't only singing she is also crying!!!
Yes...the governments in may African nations are crooked, but keep in mind that White interlopers caused many of the problems on the Motherland through colonization. Many African Nations are less than 50 years out of colony rule...The US on the other hand is 240+ years out of colonial rule and still have issues. Europe knew exactly what it was doing by dividing Africa and breaking up tribes.
Ashe'o mama. Ashe'!! The time is here, the time is now for African true liberation from internal and external corruption. Ashe'o.
Nana Ochi yep enough I can’t stand seeing my people in pain all over the globe I can’t take it anymore ✊🏿🙌🏿🇭🇹

A benchmark for the beautiful side of the human soul. Just found this woman tonight. So thankful
Fatoumata is also my sister's name. Over a decade ago in Bamako I met a child with the voice of an adult. She was a toddler at the time. She must be 15 or 16 now. I think she was from Troare tribe. One of her grandfather's name is Dembele. He is an artist, Bogolan. I came to study with him. I would like him to know I have not forgotten any thing. Hope to see you all again one day soon. Love Julie Ann
I don't understand the language she sings but I'm obsessed with this timbuktu song

What language is this?
IMHA there's missing "ala" meaning "Allah" ... on the other hand, the translation by Universal is worst
thank you so very much!
Ken Taylor This is "Bambara", Malian's language
Song is life, song is harmony, song is happiness and sadness, and it tells of flying up to the sky, and of sinking into a hole opening in our soul, song is life. May you forever sing free sister
With love from Rwanda
BEATIFUL,Timbuktu, the oldest university in Africa is there.
The oldest University in the entire world along with the University in Alexandria...
Actually no we had one before that sankore university and the oldest university in the world is found in Morocco
Africa founded every major civilisation in the world, Kush, Kemet, Sumer, Akkad, Assyria, Persia, India, China, Olmec, inter alia. No civilisation exists without a university. To wit, Timbuktu is at least 10 millennia short of being the first University Africa aka Afruika. But it certainly predated many outside of Africa.
Thanks for sharing!..
Spread the knowledge!!!!..
Keep that vibe !

i love her music!
Very touching. Here is the Somali translation of the lyrics:
Halkani waa baradaydii (dhulkaygii)
Tani waa Timbuktu, hoygaygii,
Meel ay carruurtu la taahayso murugo,
Tani waa baradaydii, Timbuktu “Maliba”
Arladii jacaylka,
Arladii diirranaanta,
Arladii sharafta,
Tani waa ummaddaydii,
Maxaa naga oohinaya?
Maxaa ay carruurtaydu u ooyaaan?
Caddaalad darro darteed,
Qalalaase darteed,
Timaaddada cabsi laga qabo…
Halkani waa baradaydii,
Joojiya oohinta
Maxaa yeelay, in ay qaadataba, Timbuktu ayaa hadhi!

If only someone could interpret lyrics of this amazing song to English or swahili. I never knew such songs exists. I'd love to listen to more of such in our current generation.
God bless Africa .keep it Up Fatoumata God bless u
