I just want to say I love how specific you are with the subtle details and nuances of the techniques and intentions with the shots and strategies you present. I feel like a lot of other channels miss this and talk to the viewer as if they've been playing racquet sports for a long time. As somebody learning this sport with no racquet experience at all I really like the way you explain everything in detail. Thanks

Wow! Thank you! I work really hard to do exactly what you said because I didn’t have a racquet background either. Thank you for the kind words. This was really encouraging.

May be useful? If you're at front attacking ( as right hander ), middle area, with a volley push. Best to aim to at right side of court or you might expose your expose your left side if he/she attacks there?

Doesn't work for me. Most of the people I play with (indoor) are now lobbers. If we are at the net for the 3rd or 4th shot, and opponents are at their baseline, they just lob it over our heads to our baseline, making it very difficult for us now.

Sorry to hear that Craig. That can be frustrating. Just out of curiosity, what do they do after you return the lob?

    • @craigmarley5926

"IF" I can return the lob. Got to run back and the only reliable hit is a return lob to their baseline. If I'm long, their point. If short, they are in transition zone anyway and smash an overhead back. But a lot of time it works-feeding them their own medicine. Even worse is some bangers will not dink more than once, their next dink is a lob way over your head to the baseline. The best players use lobs because they work. A lot of players here are seniors and don't have the mobility to run back and return a lob.

Stay a bit back if they’re constantly lobbing and hit an overhead smash at their feet.

I know who the lobbers are. So, I don’t hug the NVZ line. A couple of smashes out of the air and it stops. Lol

Just get back as quick as you can once you recognize the lob and drop shot it over the net to reset the play. I know easier said than done. So if you need to lob it back send it high to give yourself time to set up at the NVZ and look at their swing (body direction, paddle direction) to predict where the overhead is going. Set up your paddle for a block before they even hit it and react as quickly as you can to reset the play. (Don’t pop the ball just simply let it bounce off your paddle in the direction you want) hope this helps 👍🏼
