  • In this seminar, we explored the role of design in shaping the future and how designers can anticipate and respond to emerging trends and challenges. Design Futures and speculative design are exciting and constantly evolving disciplines within the broader field of futures. It recognizes the powerful role that design plays in shaping the future and seeks to harness that power to create positive change.
Advisor & Futurist Lovisa Volmarsson together with Tobias Revell (Design Futures Lead at Arup) and Phil Balagtas (Design Director at Habitat) delved into the concept of "futures thinking" and how we through design can explore extraordinary images of tomorrow and urgent examinations of the many questions facing us today.
The Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies (CIFS) is an independent, non-profit futures think tank and was founded in 1969 by Professor Thorkil Kristensen, former Danish Minister of Finance and Secretary-General of the OECD.
CIFS works towards the betterment of society by leveraging multidisciplinary capabilities to equip and inspire individuals, organisations, decision-makers, and the public to act on the future today.
The Institute aims to have an open and engaging global profile, be closely involved with partners, members, governments, academia, businesses, and the public. The Institute also desires to build futures literacy in society in a time when it has never been more important.
