Before feeling bad for this guy I remembered he hacked systems that managed patient medical records. I would hope prison isn't a vacation for someone who toys with peoples lives like that.
Love ya buddy! Glad to see you are getting the story out, if you ever want my perspective of things, and you want some copies of the letters we wrote back and forth, let me know brother! -uNiTy
This is a thought-provoking question. Not all criminal hacking cases are cut from the same cloth. Aside from that, I think it's important to note that this wasn't a hospital, but a private clinic. Also, the clinic was the launch pad of an attack, and not the actual target itself (though that can be interpreted differently). It wasn't a financial crime, nor was it my intent to access, compromise, modify or leak patient records. Within the news and media outlets, this was a case of "Could have", and "might have", and not so much about what actually took place. For example, the news cited ad nauseam of what I had the potential to do and didn't really explain what I did. Regarding the bots, as someone who loves to download computer games, you end up causing more drag on the network downloading large files and streaming than the kilobytes/megabytes each bot was programmed to distribute from an infected machine to a remote target across the internet. The crime itself was really asinine and just foolish all around, and not on my list of life achievements for things I am proud of. With that being said, let me emphasize that patient records and diagnostics were not affected and the data wasn't compromised. Still, let's advocate against bad actors taking these kinds of actions, and try to cultivate a better mindset among the hacktivist communities that healthcare systems should never be the launchpad or the target of ANY kind of hacking activities. Healthcare systems of any kind MUST be considered out-of-scope for hacktivists to target for ANY reason. If we see this taking place, it is imperative to report it to the proper channels and to try to mitigate any such attacks on healthcare infrastructure.
I have a thought experiment for you, I'm taking part in it as well. Do you believe that someone who committed the crime that he committed, and somebody that would have lock somebody away for 9 years, with a year and a half of that being in solitary confinement completely cut off from their family, should receive the same punishment for their crimes? I'm not saying him being in jail is a crime I'm saying just pretend that maybe it was an abduction instead of jail
Can't tell if you are joking but there are also good hackers, its just the black hat hackers that cause havoc and then those black hat hackers are stereotyped for hackers in general. White hat hackers utilize their power for good.
Education is a lot different every generation, just think about yourself first, how your generation is going to thru or went thru.. then think about your family generation, and past generation, and so on… just my 2cents
Do you think hackers should be in the same prisons as other criminals? 🤔
Yes. How would the hackers get computers in prison.
Never ever,
Yes, they are criminals. If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime.
I say violent offfenders and non-violent offenders should be kept in separate areas too
Yes, because many peoples lives are ruined because of them! They’re still criminals!🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️

I would hope prison isn't pointless torture either
The inmates had backdoor access, tunnelled in and passed on their malware 😂😂😂
😂
😂😂😂
They “penetrated” into the network and maintained persistence
Oh shit 😂😂

Great episode! Keep the documentaries coming please!
I think they got confused they treated this guy as if he killed 10 people
They should think about it before breaking the law.

Hackers are horrible people. Why would you what to cause havoc on innocent people?

, before you killed someone, cause Thereafter doesn't work anymore for you, Darling !
Real hackers can never be convicted or identified by law enforcement, otherwise they'd not be valid hackers. 💻
You can be ratted out.
