As a longtime K-pop fan (you can tell from my username lol), having an interpreter who really gets the artists makes concerts and events so much fun and more enjoyable-and you're that person, April! ❤
I like that she try to interpret words and meanings into the local slang as much as possible. My first time I am impressed with a translator for a Korean concert. I was like, wow she kept the slangs and the intonation. Amazing work. Not easy to do as I have tried myself to be an interpreter in a work meeting. 30 minutes of meeting would already tire me out especially with all the specialise terms. So props to April for doing a great job.
i’ve been to 4 different concerts in SG with April as the interpreter and it’s always such a pleasure to hear that familiar, expressive voice 😆 hope to hear you in more concerts in the future!! all the best 🤍
April, you have created a "next" profession. Your auspicious education is a tribute to following the classic line of what parents want, for you to be able feel that you are secure. This moment stands for doing the job fabulous and doors will open. Make your own door and rock on!🎤Santa Monica, California
Awesome work April!! I was excited when you came out as the emcee at Hwasa's fanmeeting concert! I love the interactions you had with the artists that went viral, also I'm a hugeeee Taeyeon fan as well so I can understand a little, on how crazy that interaction mustve been for you
Its a great privilege for you to meet the artist up close and personal. People will likely to envy you on a way. Giving you the utmost respect in every way. I know its hard and the same time having fun doing your job. For sure that pressure you got in every gig that you're in. Loving your job makes it a bit easier and i salute you for that. The confidence you got is immeasurable in my perspective. For sure your you got a proud family behind you. May you be showered with more blessings and good health.
I feel this is much better than having some Singaporean DJs trying to interpret with their half baked Korean skills in the early days of Kpop here in Singapore.. back in 2009 and 2010 there wasn't so many kpop artistes coming and Skilled Korean to English translator wasn't so readily available and the translation was so bad. I feel translator should ideally live or work in Singapore for a set time and also in Korea to know the culture and not just direct word for word translation.. It's more about getting the message across then translating word for word.. which a AI translation would be doing.
Oooh i think remember her. Some Singaporean radio DJ interpreting for Korean movie stars and kpop artistes. I always find her awkward and her translations off 🤷🏻♀️
It wasn't even just earlier days. Very recently during the first IVE fancon in Singapore, the interpreter was quite bad that Yujin had to rephrase her own words in English.
I have been wanting to know April! I love her energy. She brings a additional element within the concert which I loved it. Glad we are able to get this interview with her. ❤ im a total fan girl of her. I never knew a interpreter could be thos outstanding. I love her voice n her accent. Way to go! JIAYOU!!!
I think what really sets her apart from the others is that she’s Korean, so she gets the nitty gritty of nuance and she herself is a kpop fan girl. She understands her audience, both the artists and the fans. Also she said she learns about the artists and their fandoms prior to the shows. That’s dedication and respect to her profession. Kudos, April-nim! (Experienced her emceeing recently; she’s so enthu. Unfortunately she’s not the interpreter for the event. I was so disappointed with the interpretation job. The interpreter just glossed over some words and even used slightly different-meaning words for convenience. It’s frustrating since I understand Korean)
April is really special and you give so much to the artist and fans! I hope you don’t give in to the pressure because you already delight us as you are. Hope I could be lucky enough to attend an event with April someday :)
April did an amazing job mc-ing for Hwasa’s concert in Singapore (2024). I wish she actually translated the entire concert for Hwasa cuz the other translator wasnt good 🥲 fyi, im korean lol
Sounds good for her, curious since I’m based in Bangkok and lived in Seoul for seven years. I have noticed lots of the k pop entertainers who came to Thailand have an interpreter and I got the feeling that the translations are rather basic and not necessarily very clear. I remember ages ago when Rain came to Bangkok my Thai friend who worked with Citibank who co sponsored his tour. I was able to meet Rain for about five minutes and I realized during that time they had hired the kid of an executive who had studied one year in Seoul. In those five minutes I saw that their co Versatel should were so way off. I remembered in Seoul they would hired formally trained translators. I’m waiting for these groups to just use AI .
Next time when North and South Korean officials meet up at the highest level, they should invite her to do the interpretation. Might as well rap for Kim Jung Un, but make sure the meeting takes place in the South. Remember to charge double of your fees the next time you do translation for Kpop events in Singapore. Some people just got the talents for languages, just like some people got the affinity for mathematics, talent for dancing etc.

Rock it like this rock it like this
The CN Blue clip is the most viral video in my country for her work. She totally deserved the fame ❤
It was the first clip that got my attention though. Not sure why was it mentioned last. 😅
That rap was awesome n I loved it!

April is a genius. She really understands that it’s not just about translating the words.

Love when someone is passionate about what they do. And it totally shows. Go April! 💜

Good insight to the profession of an interpreter and the amount of work it takes to be a good one.
I hadn't seen any of those viral clips until now, but April seems to be the perfect person for the job of K-pop interpreter !

Hello from Bucharest, Romania - a huge underrated city in Europe:) Known also as "Little Paris"!
I wonder how it is to work as a translator especially when it is for Taeyeon noona
Sounds good for her, curious since I’m based in Bangkok and lived in Seoul for seven years. No wonder kpop artiste like to come to singapore 😮
I just know her because of IU
No News of civil unrest and chaos in the UK,???
Interesting. Now if I could get a first class flight to Singapore.
J/K 😂
???

Some people just got the talents for languages, just like some people got the affinity for mathematics, talent for dancing etc.
Other than language abilities, being at the high level meeting required SECURITY CLEARANCE. 😂
Who cares
Idolatry
What's the point?
Uh, so fans who don't speak Korean can understand what's going on?
Bitter, as do ALL your comments.
she gets monies and have fun?
best KR-EN interpreter in sg fr 🥹
