I've given up trying to get a job as a HGV driver. Bus companies in Manchester are paying more so I'm going back on the buses. Monday to Friday, weekends overtime, home to my own bed every night.
Nice adventure, the paperwork issue cost you the time needed to get back 🤣 the footage from today should be interesting, plenty snow here in Huddersfield.
Early start and a long trip. Only dipped in and out to be fair in this one as only just finished saving footage from today. 4 hours stuck in snow due to accidents and silly drivers, but did managed to get 2 artics unstuck, first one using some salt and next using part of my load to get him some traction as his drive axle had slipped off the road. Unfortunately a local artic and car also crashed resulting in a double fatality, loaded artic ended up in some trees, just tragic. Hope you got home safe tonight Darren. Oh the best bit about this week, I'm on one of the latest Scania R series wagons, the only rigid one at this firm. Stay safe out there Darren.
@@Life_of_Darren First thing you notice in an R compared to the G is the extra height, the fact the windows go all the way down and the extra storage spaces. The extra power is noticeable but it looses traction more often when loaded! Oh it's much quieter too. Forward vision is reduced close to the cab and extra concentration is needed going onto narrow weighbridges. Pity the regular driver is only on holiday for a week, I'd love to drive this one all the time. Peak district where we were waiting in the blizzards Buxton to Ashbourne road A515. You were lucky if you didn't see any. I was just concerned that as I was only on this lorry for this week that I did not want to get it damaged, doesn't do the reputation any good if it ends up in a ditch. 😉👍😁
I used to work like this 60 hours a week from 2010 to 2023 , I was barely making any money and nearly had a mental health breakdown so had to stop working for a few months , Yes i lost money but it was worth it as im the type of woman who dont cope well with stress , I went from being like you a very happy go lucky person to being very angry and miserable and not even wanting to look another person in the eyes or chat to them , this is the reality of the UK it will break you if you let it.
@@Life_of_Darren 😀👍 cool 😎 glad you found a way to cope with the long hours , not sure about 3am starts though lol 🤣 I did once work a nighy shift for Amazon years back but lasted 6 months before burn out lol
Another great video again mate. That taco bell looked amazing I couldn't quite work out what KFC meal you had though. Did you hear that McDonald's have got the breakfast bap back on me u again too had to have one of those this morning bud.
@@Life_of_Darren haven't had a burger King for many many years we haven't got one near us but we tend not to get fast food or takeaways much we just normally treat ourselves once a month if that, oh that sounds nice though buddy.
Thanks bud, main reason for Lymm being bad is the toilets are always broken, they have 12 cubical and only 2 work 🙈 and if you turn up after 18:00 it’s chaos as trucks are parked everywhere
Great video Darren, Always wanted to try Taco Bell, Lad i work with raves about it keeps telling me to try but it’s effort going Manc City centre just to try it.. What did you think?.. Did you have to opt out of working hours regs as would 3am start be classed as night shift so limits to 10 hour work day if not opted out? Or do i have that wrong? Foot down Friday tomorrow.. Safe driving mate
Pretty much every driving job opts out for it mate. There’s a tacho bell in Wigan mate, it was pretty good but only tried a small tacho, the meals look pretty decent. The Wigan one is on Robin retail park,
@@Life_of_Darren Ohh that’s good to know as I have read starting out for new passes you might have to consider night shift.. Oh really? Thats handy I’m going to have to try it out. Cheers for that mate
Upside to 3am start Darren no traffic as you know and a nice drive bud prehaps tank went under low bridge have yourself a good night out,
Will
Thanks Will, have a great weekend
Morning checks straps tight as possible great to drive in night as long as no road closed
It’s the road closures that cause the issues at night, it’s great with no cars around
I'm new to your channel and thoroughly enjoyed this vlog. Thank you.
Thanks for subbing!
Thank you for the tour good video
Where the trees have been cleared is where they are building a link road so it will be dual carriage way or motorway from Italy to Scotland

Best of luck to it bud
Thought I recognised the road you started on, our Haydock depot is there haha - Premier Paper
I think that’s across the way from us! Small world
New subscriber great work mate 👍
Thanks bud and welcome in!
T-800, I'll be back, I need your clothes, your boots 🥾🥾 and your keys! 🗝️🗝️.

Tbh it hasn’t really snowed today so got lucky on that side. I noticed that with the paperwork issue too 🙈

The livery on your truck means nothing if it’s suppose to be advertising, similar to personalised number plates, only the driver knows what it means,
Hi Darren, love the videos, a big fan, what’s the distance work like at your place?
Thanks watching bud! We do a fair bit of distance down to London / gravesend etc I do prefer the distance ines personally as it gets you out the way

Luckily with hgv driving if you keep your self busy during down periods it doesn’t feel like your doing 60 hours over the week, but it can be hard

Ayup Darren, great vlog pal. Why do you rate Lymm services as crap?
Thanks bud, main reason for Lymm being bad is the toilets are always broken, they have 12 cubical and only 2 work 🙈 and if you turn up after 18:00 it’s chaos as trucks are parked everywhere
Why not use corner protectors and tighten the strap properly?
Don’t have them unfortunately
What’s this over one tone in weight rule?

Why do you use poa taco
When waiting for a collection / delivery for a long period of time, it won’t count towards your working hours
