A persons heart has to have 4 things to get True salvation and the Gift of the Holy Spirit....
#2.. One has to come humbly before the lord as a child,
#3..They must be Truly Remorsefulness Of their sins. #4..They have to Ask Jesus for Mercy and forgiveness for the sins they have committed.
But none of this is possible without this one last thing but it’s the first thing that must occur....
#1....” Their Heart needs to be under conviction” for their sin and know they’re lost and in need of a savior to save them from eternal death & damnation. Conviction of the heart is the first step to the cross. You’ll never get someone lost to the cross to take the other 3 steps if they’re heart is not under the conviction of the Lord first.
The word translated "chief" in that verse is PROTOS and means "pattern", "example" and we get the English word "prototype" from it.
He's talking about his CONVERSION/TRANSFORMATION from sinner to saint.
Believers are not called "sinners" even once in the New Testament but are called "saints" over 70 times.
And obviously logic tells us "chief" DOESN'T mean "biggest".
It's absurd to think that the CONVERTED (100% transformed: 2 Corinthians 5:17) Paul was a bigger sinner than Herod, Nero and all the rest.
That's blasphemous of the Holy Spirit which now indwelt him to suggest that.
And read verse 13! It says he was *PREVIOUSLY* a sinner.
If Paul was still a sinner then Romans 6 makes no sense, he had no right calling out others' sins (as he does throughout his letters) and his use of phrases like "pure heart" (1 Timothy 1:5), "good conscience" (1 Timothy 1:19) to describe the standard the Holy Spirit indwelling allows us to reach (Romans 8:9) are contradictory.
You need to look at ALL of the letters to Timothy and ALL of the epistles of Paul (and Acts) to properly interpret the verse in context.

She said at first that she is saved based by her own works, by saying she was placed on this earth to "help her people". Thank you Ray for the loving rebuke and honesty in sharing the Gospel. It is not by our own striving or "good person" deeds, we are saved by grace, by Christ who died on the cross, was raised from the death. Christ paid it all at the cross, for sinners. Jesus came to save sinners not "good people. 🥹

In my senior year of highschool my life was shaken up. In 2000 I had moved around big time and was on my 3rd high school in 3 years. I was probably about 70 miles away from where I grew up.
Being a single kid with divorced parents being bounced from one to another. I was in a new area with no long term friends.
It was a boyfriend and girlfriend that approached me one day asking if I'd like to be a part of their Young life group.
I accepted because I was an easy going person. I had fun with the program, even sang songs like Amazing Grace.
I watched the Superbowl on the Youth Pastor's projection screen and took enjoyment from my favorite Ravens clobbering the NY Giants with their historically dominate defense.
One thing I never recall being presented to me was the Gospel, however. I had a church background from my childhood, but hearing my peers get excited about their friends being saved. I truly didn't know what that meant and was afraid to ask.
I would have probably accepted it, but I still remember the experience fondly and look forward to seeing some of those peers in Heaven.
I would encourage parents with these programs to help their kids be bold and befriend other kids, and have them explain who Jesus is to them.

When he was about 6 years old I told about the good news gospel of what Jesus did for him and his sins and he has accepted Him as his Lord and Savior. He is 13 now and we talk about the things of God every chance I get (without his dad knowing). I saw him around Christmas and now he wants to get babtized. It can't be always about the parents responsibility to pass down their faith to theirchildren.
In my nephew's case it had to be me his uncle for that mission.
BTW when I was about 10 my uncle and aunt are the ones who told me about Jesus (and I accepted Him) because my fighting alcoholic parents in no way were about to tell me I needed to be born again.

I just put in this comment: This just makes me tear up to think she may really move from thinking she is a cross wearing Christian to really being born again in these very, very last days of the age of grace before the seven year Tribulation. Today is the day to repent and die to self and making plans for the future because Jesus is giving prophecies and dreams that He is coming very soon for His bride- holy people who are born again and love righteousness in gratitude for His sacrifice on the cross. In a moment, in a twinkling of an eye, we will be caught up to meet Jesus in the clouds and then go into the throne room of heaven to see Father God hand the scroll to the Lamb of God, Son of God, Jesus Christ our Lord.
