- August 5, 2021. Trailhead is at Marblemount, Washington. Located close to the North Cascades National Park Ranger Station.
One could go even further than I did, especially if climbing one or both Helen Buttes is one's objective; but on this day I turned around at about 4.6 miles in, with about 4100 feet of elevation change.
wowwwww soooo beautiful 💕💕thanks for capturing so beautifully 👍👍 Stay blessed and keep sharing your precious videos 💕💕
Nice chatting with you on the trail!
Great job on spotting and reporting the new fire! We’ve done this hike a couple times- but didn’t scramble up for a view… you did really well to see so many great peaks! We bushwhacked from the flat area a bit trying to see where we were. But for sure, it’s a great workout!! Nice one!!
It's a hard hike and definitely you have to work for the best views. From the flat area keep going a bit to the views, I'd guess between a quarter and a half mile. Someday I might camp up there and then attempt the nearer Helen Butte.
As far as the fire, it wasn't convenient but I couldn't not report it. First I called 911, then got transferred to DNR, then transferred to their dispatch. Had to repeat details each time.
I didn't see any mention of it in the news for maybe 2 weeks then the road was closed (again).(And then while it was closed they had weather damage to the road which has it closed for a lot longer, at least I think that was the timeline.)
I think because of the steep terrain and all of the other fires they were dealing with they let it burn, and just kept an eye on it for a while.
@@MrArtudtoo Well, good you made the effort and reported it! We were down by Chinook Pass when a fire started and was 30 acres and they didn’t do anything due to limited resources, then in a few days it was too large to fight and caused a lot of damage. It’s a tough call for sure.
I hope you do get to attempt Helen Butte!
