Don’t worry - I also didn’t get in my first year. It happens. Apply again - now I’m a fourth year MD student. It happens - keep your head up my friend.

Jaskar P hey could I ask you some questions? I’m in highschool and really want to be a surgeon. I am just wanting to prepare in any way I can now so I don’t have to wait a year if I don’t get accepted after college

About to start medical school at age 30. Took me several years to decide what to pursue and didn’t truly find this course till 25. Didn’t get accepted my first cycle but redoubled my efforts and reapplied. My only issue is she could have described herself in the way she said she couldn’t. That was completely false, she just chose not to. That aspect is exactly what makes you unique and not a robot. She has multiple options for her future, but if anyone reading this is questioning whether it is worth it or not to apply again, it is if you so choose. Got in to my first choice (top 20 school) and, although older, undeterred from my eventual goal. Don’t give up until you are sure of that choice.

I got waitlisted after my interviews and now my chances are so low I keep sobbing how do you do it, to keep reapplying takes such resilience and courage and I'm afraid mine have run out...

Pointless. Many people have to apply multiple times to get accepted to medical school. She shouldn’t quit so easily.

Dr.Webb on UA-cam is an Orthopedic surgeon and it took him 3 years to get into medical school after taking 7 years to finish his bachelors(he was in the military) & not to mention a post bacc program. Those who want it will get it one day, just keep trying.

You got it wrong Abby is not quitting far from the rejection made her realise there are so many other paths that she can take life does not revolve around medicine.

Some people just want to move on. Life is not about medicine only.

This did not make me feel good at all. Why did I even click on this video? first aid medical certified by 13, medical suture by 16 and research by 17. Ok, those are all great but you don't get acceptance handed in just for those causes only. Ask them why you didn't get and reapply again, if "this has been in your dream".

You are not the first one to fall in your ambitions. You are just a self pitting soul and I would advise you to look beyond yourself. You will find that you’re one of the most privileged ones.

To go in not thinking you could be rejected is sort of.........you want to be realistic as possible. Getting in then I'll be excited. Not getting in...man smh time to do post bacc. I don't know her but have the feeling she's been A student her whole life that type

    • @surreal2958

I don't what know what being student of her life has to do with her not getting in, but I agree she should find others avenues. There isn't just one path to medical school. She sounds fed up and discouraged. I wish I didn't watch it, because this will only discourage more people.

I'm applying soon, but my grades are dropping so I'm pretty sure I have no chances of getting in and I'm trying really hard to accept it now, before reading the letter

Dillon K are you white or black or any other minority? Because if so it is much easier for a minority to get in with lower scores than say a white person
