Alexa your the best French teacher I've ever saw in my life, according to your good explaining, proper accent, and your enjoyable lessons. I've learned so much from you now and I really want to tell you merci beaccoup or thank you very very very much for your hard working to learn us. In 1 year almost I'll hopefully be a French Passer by using your helpful lessons !!!!!!!!!! Like, if you guys think that Alexa is the best French Teacher !!!!!
Although there are some general rules to determine feminine and masculine, as taught in Alexa's video, I suggest that, whenever you learn a new French vocabulary word, learn it ALONG WITH its gender. For example: 1/ If you look a translation of a word from your language to French in the dictionary, ALWAYS look the gender (m.) or (f.). 2/ Likewise, if a person (teacher or else) tells how an object is called in French, think to ask wether it is masculine or feminine. DO not be satisfied with the word only. 2/ If you hear words from a native speaker or read these words, you may "guess" the gender of a specific word by paying attention to the use of definite or indefinite article (which you are now able to do thanks to Alexa's lesson). If you hear or see "une" or "la" attached to a word, you know this word is feminine. If you hear or see "un" or "le" attached to a word, you know this word is masculine. Again, you should ALWAYS learn a French word AND its gender. If not, I would say that you learnt half the word ! That's what I say to my own students. Courage! Great video Alexa ! I just wanted to add some additional tips. :-)
Alexa, only recently did I discover your lessons and now I am up to number eight. Your accent is clear, your speed is perfect and the amount of material in one lesson is just right for an 82-year-old man. I learned French at school and thought it was similar to medicine, tasting horrible but somehow making the victim better. It was a shock to find, on my first visit to France in my teens, that people spoke the language to babies, cats and dogs. Nobody had ever explained to me that it was a national language!
Bonjour Alexa! I have just started to study French and you are helping me a lot!!! I am picking it up slowly but your help is being essential!!! :) THANKS AND DO NOT STOP MAKING VIDEOS LIKE THIS! My best regards!

When to use le and un as both of them are used before a masculine noun.
It's the same logic as le with the and in with a
Le is definitive, as in 'the' whereas un is a/an.

Basically, it's easier to find out the french gender if: you're a Portuguese speaker and have some notion of English in general.
Well, same for spanish speakers. Even my first language is mandarin, also speak spanish.
