@@Capybarski Yeah, it's on an off. Inside the cabinet is a simple power strip and the motor plugs into that, but somehow (I honestly don't know how) it will still cause the power supply to fail sometimes, making the motor no longer work. Not to mention sometimes the motor is weak, other times it clears the whole board with no problem

  • @SassafrasRoot
    @SassafrasRoot День тому +13

On the topic of older redemption games, you should cover 'Tower of Power' by Skee-Ball. Its gameplay isn't anything special, but the cabinet's unique design always stood out to me. The sounds it makes are also kind of eerie to me lol

Haven't watched this yet but im really into pinball and fun fact, Simpsons pinball party, that pinball simpsons game stern made in 2003 is actually really sought after by collectors for being one of the best games of its era. Its seen as the first "classic" game stern pinball (currently the largest pinball manufacturer in the world) ever made and it was a staple of there early, shakier catalog.
As such kooky carnival actually has some value to pin collectors as a source of exclusive game parts and molds that can be difficult to obtain otherwise since there out of print! (the homer head, bart figurine, etc)
(that part sharing is also why theres a comic book guy figure as he's an integral piece to the original pinball party, a lot of the games rules revolve around him giving the player challenges and awarding them more points for completing them faster.)

So neat to see the comment I left about this game featured in the video! :) There actually are a handful of pinball games based entirely around winning tickets, such as Super Mario Mushroom World, Punchy The Clown, and even one literally called "Ticket-Tac-Toe", but since they each came out in the early or mid 90's, they're probably not very easy to come by. But just letting you know, if you ever do find a way to talk about them.

  • @someperson4712

Definitely a favorite of mine now. This game is one of the last 3 physical coin operated games my arcade has. Funny thing about this game is that there really is no big difference between the quarter version from the nickle version. The operator may set it to give out less tickets, but over time then game will auto adjust to giving equal or even more tickets than the quarter versions, making it such a great game for tickets. When ever one of these games are out of order for a long period of time, the game thinks "oh, no one's won much tickets out of here in a while" so when it gets put back in order, ive seen the value for hitting any of the letters as high as 25 tickets per nickle.
It's also a fun game to open, cuz it's the same components as a pinball machine.

I've never seen the operator menu on machines like this before. Surprisingly well presented for something the player is never supposed to access, maybe just for ease of use.

That menu is actually used on pretty much all stern pinball machines, even nowadays! where i work we have a modern godzilla pinball and despite having a fancy lcd it still uses that same operator menu.

Still suggesting Pac-man Ticket mania, an easy jackpot for all the gamers out there. At least in my local arcade it's easy, seems like the jackpot payout settings are off by default and both the first stage and the jackpot stage are very doable with enough practice.

Seeing Smokin' Token in the intro brought back so many memories of grinding tickets at my local Chuck E Cheese. There's not really anything to it to cover it in a video (unless you do a compilation of these token drop games?), but I remember getting decent enough at it that I would sometimes empty the ticket cache and had to call over an employee to fill it up again. Kid me was always so proud of myself whenever I managed that.

  • @metroidman9161

Whenever I think of ticket redemption arcades and games, I can't help but think of the defective Drill-O-Matic game that a local place had and set to dispense tickets. The arm was a tad loose, so the force from the push actually slid the arm up into the ticket buttons a bit, making it very easy to hit the 250 ticket win repeatedly.

  • @Ui00p

There was this old submarine game at Chuck E. Cheese where you aimed with a joystick and fired torpedoes at submarines. There would also be a rainbow sub at the far back that moved fast and gave you the jackpot which 8 yo me won first try somehow

Love this game. I got pretty good at it and can hit the jackpot pretty consistently. The letters not only reset after a number of failed attempts, but also after some idle time. Bart also only doesn't need aiming if the coin gun is spring loaded to the center (and you can typically find I set up from a kid just getting the I), but I've also seen it where the coin gun wasn't spring loaded to the center that always had to be aimed, and where it was spring loaded to the far left.

Thank you for making this video. Honestly, ticket redemption games like these don't get the love they deserve I feel. Some games I've always enjoyed are SpongeBob SquarePants by SEGA (the one where you drop a token onto a moving belt with squares featuring SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, and Mr. Krabs), Operation by Coastal Amusements, Angry Birds Arcade by ICE, and SpongeBob Ticket Coaster by Andamiro.

There's a home run themed game with a metal bat. Lever that you swing in order to score tickets off of a ball that's pitched. I can't remember the name of it. But I'm curious where that one lies once I figured out the rhythm and the pattern to it. It was a pretty viable game for me.I need to remember to write down names of games

Now that you've reminded me of this skill game, what about those token launcher games where it goes on a conveyor belt and you need to try to get it to fall in the different ticket cups, that have multiple cups it could fall into? There's a dinosaur one with a spinning wheel at the bottom and a surfing one with 4 tiers of token falling with a tiki head that hitting the 4 teeth causes the tokens collected to fall down. Hopefully I'm describing this well enough. Haven't seen them in a long while though (like 10 years), so might be hard to review.

Reminds me a lot of Greedy Gobs and Roll n Bowl (both of which are UK specific arcade games?) both of them are rather old and can sometimes be found in old arcades, but are similar “roll the coin/token into hole” games, although I have a soft spot for them because of the old ass aesthetic they have (ESPECIALLY Bowl lol) really the true form of a “stripped back” version lol

Gonna make a other comment, this IS an easy S tier if your at a nickle arcade. At least where I work, even tho its set to have a very low value like 15, it does increae by each coin, and of course ppl will spend more plays with nickles than quarters, so its always at a good number. Not to mention that when these games have an incrementing JP value, you can often tell how worn the game is by the jackpot. For example, i got 2 of these where I work, the left side has a smaller jackpot cuz people win it more often, the right side however is really hard to get the W, being BEARLY possilbe, and because of that its always at 750 tickets.
