If you are looking to stock up on LiPo packs for your 5 inch FPV drones, there are a ton of options out there. Some are cheap, some are light, some are compact, but how often are they all three of those things? Today we are going to take a look at the LiPo packs I usually fly and compare them against what could be the best budget pack I have seen so far.

Picked up a TON of 4s 850mah 100c RCHackers. Incredible batteries so far! Smaller, lighter and better at 100c vs. CNHL 850mah at 70c. So great they have smaller versions.
I have had a much better experience with my RCHackers than with any of the standard CNHL packs that I have owned, hands down! I haven't gotten to try any of their smaller stuff, but even the bigger ones are somehow smaller, lighter, and don't sag as bad as others I have tried. Really don't know what they are doing with these things to get them there, but I sure hope they keep it up, lol.
Interesting. I've used mostly CHNL black and Ovonic since I started FPV. I do hate the black casings but always liked the discharge rate (vs say Ministars) and cheaper cost. I think I prefer the pizzas over black because of the casing but I fly mostly 1050 or 1100mah and rarely fly larger lipos on the freestyle rigs. I need to check the RC Hackers lipos and was looking at the Li-ion RC Angel Fire packs too.
I will say that the CNHL Blacks have never not performed. They are just fine when it comes to capacity and draw...I just seem to kill them so often due to physical breakage. It seems like every time I crash with one and cartwheel, I will be retiring that pack. Most of mine are held together with electrical tape because they look like busted cans of biscuits, lol. I haven't tried Li-ion, but I do hear great things for long range!
@@BaconNinjaFPV I actually destroyed a Black today lol. Landed on pavement and pack split open. Didn't even want to take it home lol. Got 6 of RCH coming. With the weight savings, going to try 1300mah for a change.
@@moblades1 i swear i didn't mean to jinx you man! Lol. That has unfortunately been my experience in crashes with those packs :( I really hope you enjoy the RCH ones though!
@@BaconNinjaFPV Just got my RCH packs. Crazy. They are slightly smaller than CHNL Black 1100mah 6s packs.

Just an update i recently purchased these after seeing this video. I bought 4 of the two packs which was enough for free shipping. I placed the order on july 28th. The next day i noticed a charge on my card for dhl international shipping for 2 dollars and some change. They eventually arrive 8/9/23. So it was shipped from china to their address in california then handed off to ups so when it arrived at my door it appeared to have come from CA. With all that being said they seem to be good so far. They are so small and light compared to the giant 1500 cnhl back i was flying. Looking forward to getting all 8 cycled and see how they hold up
Have you gotten to fly them yet?? I am really interested to see what you think of them :) They for sure ship them from china now....they had the Cali warehouse but I guess it hasn't been fully stocked for a while and they wind up doing a straight drop ship which is unfortunate.
I used a pay in four payments service so if they are trying to charge me extra it will be denied. I ordered Thursday last week it’s now Thursday they say shipped but no tracking available 4 days now excluding New Year’s Day and the weekend it’s days 4
Wow, that is an incrediible value for money. Sucks I'm overseas ). But thanks for opinion on GNB batteries, had doubts about buying them and now I'm pretty sure these will be my next packs.
yeah over seas is hard for lots of the cool stuff we take for granted here in the US :( You can't go wrong with the GNB packs though!!!

Man ..perfect timing...I just retired a bunch of auline packs (worst ever...high IR too soon) and needed to buy replacements....just bought 6 - RCHackers 6S 1300mah hopefully they last a while ...thanks 👍🏼
It seems like it is always a good time for some new packs! lol. I am about to retire 12 of mine that have been around for almost a full year and well over 1000 cycles. Hope they treat you well!

lol, im sure they will be fine and some people have great luck with them. Mine seem to bust open after every crash, but they perform just fine until they are too unsafe to fly. Haven't had any issues like that with the other brands, and I even feel more comfortable after a crash with these super cheap packs than the CNHL's. The landscape here is...no landscape, lol.
I can't afford to not try the RC Hackers at this price lol.
ps - agree on the CNHL blacks. also the pack dimensions are just awkward to strap onto the quad.
i still don't know how they are making any money at that price, but it sure does make it hard to turn down. I never liked strapping those CNHL bricks to my quads either...always hanging over the edges of the top plate making me feel like a prop strike was going to blow the whole thing up, lol.

Thank you! I talked to them about some packs they may be making in the future, and I am sure they will get there. I think they are focusing on the bread and butter packs, which are 6S at the moment. I hope to see some 2S for my micros and 4S sometime down the road though.
I’m using Ovonic and tattu fun fly, there doing good and they are available here in Holland. But maybe I’m gone give the RCHackers a try.
I do love my Ovonic, and Tattu makes a great pack too. Let me know if you check them out, and what the ordering process looks like to Holland. I know countries outside of the US might have a little trouble getting them unfortunately :(

Nice comparison. I bought a brand called Hoovo back in February. 6S 1300 mah 100C as a pair from Amazon for $20 each including shipping. They are now $50/pair. I had been running the CNHL Black also, with no complaints, but the Hoovos were way smaller and only weighed 202g each. I was convinced that they were not truly 1300mah. They may not be, but I am consistently still getting longer flight times from them than any of my other 1300mah batteries. Wish I'd bought more at the time and price. Last time I needed a couple of 6S, Amazon was temporarily out and I tried another brand which is as big and bulky as the CNHLs. If the Hoovos stay competitive and are still available, they will be my go to in the future.
I havent heard of Hoovo, but there are so many manufacturers of these things that shouldn't really surprise me. It always kills me when I didn't get enough of something and the price doesn't last! lol
I run hoovo 5000 3s in all my rc trucks cars and buggies . They are great had some for 4 years and last time I used them was still good😊

I hope you don't me an hot as in...catching fire! lol. I havent tried their HV packs, but i imagine that really helps cram the capacity in there. Does charging those above 4.2v ever make you feel uncomfortable with a pack that big? I imagine it feels weird the first time, lol.
@@BaconNinjaFPV yooo.. the LiHv pack is smaller than the regular 1350 gnb lipo.. lighter and chargers to 26.2v since its an LiHv.. its a great balance.. physically its smaller and it 25g lighter
As an update to what I said earlier, the batteries did get here after about a week. They told me they were delayed by the weather. Obviously people in China don't know that the only weather we have in California in the summer is hot or not hot so they didn't really ship from California. But these batteries for this price are worth the wait and a bit of nonsense. I've flown them a lot of times now and compared them to CNHL 1300mah which cost more and are much larger and heavier. There is no difference as far as I can tell. I'm going to buy some more while I can still get them at this price.
lol, yeah weather is the go to "it came from somewhere else" excuse. I am thinking they possibly sold out their US warehouse and started just drop shipping to fill orders without actually saying that was the case. Either way, I am so glad you are enjoying them!! I agree that even with the shipping delay, the cost difference is for sure worth it.
I have more than 25 CNHL Black packs rn, never had any problem with them... Yes, some of them got that shrinking thing broke...
Oh, and I killed one once in a big crash, but saved as a 3S pack.
I still like CNHL. I get one for like $22 (1.5A 4S), $29 (1.3A 6S) and $36 ( 1.5A 6S) maybe not the best price idk. But still.
Some people for sure have better luck with them than I did. I have never had a problem with a cell dying or anything having to do with capacity or draw...but man I have killed so many of them from damage. It seems like every time I crash any more than lightly, it will totally destroy a CNHL Black. I have recycled so many that tore the casing and shoved all of the leads into the front of the pack. Not bad prices you are getting there!

I can only buy from China, because the shipping from the US is crazy high... So, I'm going to look around for them. Who knows?
Either way, I only fly 4s. And 3s, for micros... Ok, 1s as well, for whoops. But 5 inchers only 4s. They're much more predictable, a 6s pack just die when the voltage gets to a certain point... I don't like that. 😬

Thank you as always brother! Is the shipping high because of tariffs or import taxes? Just wondering how that works down there when shipping from the states. I know what you mean about the predictability thing. A 4S pack will sag and you can tell it is about to dump, where a 6S will just keep on chugging till it falls off of a cliff, lol.
@@BaconNinjaFPV I don't know exactly. All I know is that when trying to buy about 20 dollars stuff from the US the shipping was almost 100 dollars. While buying from China almost never gets more expensive than about 5 dollars... Go figure.

Got a couple of cnhl blacks and to be fair I haven't had any problems with them . I'm mainly using speedypizza 4s 1550mah at the minute and a couple of gnb 1500mah . Both are giving me great performance. 👍 Shame I can't get RCHackers in the uk 😢
Yeah people seem to have better luck with them than I did. All of mine are busted up, but they perform just fine. I just hate knowing that every time I crash that is going to be another pack on the pile, lol. Also, geez...1550mah! What are you flying man!?!

mine are still kicking strong! I haven't picked up any new ones from them in a while though, but I suspect they are still making them just about the same as they were.
i run the blacks and you need strapping tape to hold them together
yeah the hand full that I have left are super taped up, lol. It does a good job of holding them together even if doesn't look great!

Do NOT expect fast shipping because they are using a California address. My first clue was that they are using DHL which is normally international. I got an email on July 21 saying that my batteries are shipping. I got an update today saying the expected delivery date is July 30. Things do not take 9 days to go from one part of California to another. They are really coming from outside the country probably China. UPDATE Now they are showing expected delivery Aug. 3. So now it's 13 days just to go from one part of California to another. Obviously they are NOT really shipping from California.
I really appreciate the insight on this! It is kind of a curse with getting stuff for review because you never really know if the customer service bit is going to be as good as your experience. Thank you for sharing so that others can get a better picture of it!

Yeah, that does kind of stink :( i saw on their website that they are working on EU distribution though, so maybe they will be an option there soon!
@@BaconNinjaFPV hmmm yeah we’re not part of the EU anymore, even Hobbyking closed their UK warehouse when Brexit happened. I’ll just have to stick to CNHL Blacks, for me they are fine, they take a beating and last quiet well and is about all we can get here for decent price, I did try the GNB ones but they were very saggy, maybe I just got a bad battery.
Have you tried the new GNB lipos? they have them in HV and just regular lipo, I think those are my go-to budget lipo as of now, I've been wanting to try the speedy pizza lipos but honestly, after the CNHL blacks I had purchased, I have a crazy sag compared my Tattu, GNB, and Lumenier lipos. Granted Tattu and Lumenier lipos are pretty expensive. I am just trying to figure out who to stick with. Hopefully, you can update this video. I am seeing a lot of people go to Speedy Pizza but what about the other brands like the new new GNB and Dogcom?
I use quite a few newer GNB packs on my fleet now :) They are much better when it comes to sag, just cost a bit more. I can't bring myself to buy the more expensive brands since I am such a cheapo...but I do hear good things about Dogcom!

I know right! When I saw the price for the first time I thought...man, these are going to have to be trash. I kept that skepticism the whole time, but these things just kept proving me wrong time and again. Wish I had bought a stack of them a long time ago!
@@BaconNinjaFPV even after your review, my instincts still scream trash... But I'm still gonna buy them lol. I'm pretty pessimistic on gear though and honestly their normal price is a bit more in line with the segment they're shooting for. Hopefully just marked down to gain some interest. Also, they could possibly just run a lower cost margin, and will just not be available from other vendors so they don't have to mark up to cover wholesale discounts
