I am updating my last post. As of today our Polaris has been fully repaired by Polaris Ind. and is better than new with 2018 drivetrain parts from the engine to the front dif....... It took a stay at the dealer for 40 days but Polaris also made that time right with us in the form of a generous gift coupon to cover our losses. So far we are very pleased with the repairs and new stronger parts. Polaris spent over $3000 to get our unit corrected FYI....
I purchased a 2016 General in October. From day one the drive line noise was/is bad... I was told by the dealership that some noises are to be expected, that all UTV'S make drive line noises....That statement simple is not true.... Yamaha and Can Am are built with the correct drive line parts for the horsepower and torque needed for a true off road UTV.... After weeks of research and driving the unit we found out that Polaris had used sub standard drive shafts, bearings, u joints and axles. These parts are for use in lawn mowers and water pumps for under 30 hp. The engine is rated at 105-107 hp. The noises from under our General in 2wd is bad....put it 4wd high and the unit sounds like it is going to rip its self apart..... I am not alone with this major issue....Thousands of owners have the same issues.... My General is at the dealer for the 2 second time in 2 months for warranty work . Polaris is very aware of these major issues and has done nothing yet nationally to recall all these units....I am still hopeful that Polaris will fix this machine to it's proper usefulness. I am 25 year Polaris owner 3 sleds and a quad. BUYER BEWARE
These are AWESOME OHVs! We just got some 2018 Red Polaris Generals at our store (Great Outdoors Adventures) to rend and share with our customers in Colorado right in the Pike National Forest.
The 2017 Polaris General is having its fair share of issues as well. Polaris might be the leader in Side by Side Sales, but they are also leader in warranty work and factory recalls. Polaris isn't the only company cutting corners and leaving in known issues while still charging top dollar. What is even worse is when the customer has to take their 20thousand dollar + machine back to the dealership multiple times for the same issue and gets treated like an idiot claiming the operator is at fault. After all, the selling point of these machines is supposed to be dependability and able to take a fair amount of abuse. Every promotional video out there proves that to be fact.
I have a 2017 an the primary clutch totally went on it cousing secondary clutch damage and all the peices got going in the cranke seal cousing crank seal to leak an the belt was still intack 3100$ in damages good thing I bought extended warranty it was 1year 1 month when it happened but Polaris is fixing it FYI
I have a 2017 and I really enjoy it I even put a rockford fosgate stage 4 sound system it sounds pretty loud✌️, I love my Polaris General thank God I haven’t had a problem with it👍 by the way I’m a woman💁♀️
I really enjoyed your video and found it very informative, however I do need to correct you on one thing; your comment of “ it takes a man to open it and it takes a man to close it.” In reference to the engine cover latch’s durability. This is incorrect and misleading. I am a 105 lb, 4’ 11” woman and have no problem doing either on my my General Deluxe Edition. You may be surprised at the percentage of women who purchase or copurchase these vehicles. Perhaps if you were aware of this, you may chosen to word that differently. One last thing, if this is truly your opinion, perhaps you should consider hitting the gym to beef up so you could lift it with ease. Just sayin.

Yeah Polaris doesn't know what their doing. Only been making RZRs for years now. Which the general basically is by the way

No. they are to big.
