I don’t think the missing customisation is a problem right now. SCS communicated the why and imo it’s nice that we got the truck in the game in this special edition before Christmas. Really better than not having it at all. Even the engine sound is preety good this time.

Fun fact - 2023 has seen the most new truck releases in World Of Trucks history. With 5 new trucks this year (6 if you count the Kenworth W900 rework), hopefully this means SCS has stepped up their production and means we'll be seeing new trucks added more often from now on.
Here are the 2023 trucks for those curious:
- Western Star 5700XE (January)
- MAN TG3 TGX (May)
- Volvo VNL 2018 (May)
- Kenworth W900 100th Anniversary (August)
- DAF XD (November)
- Kenworth T680 2022 (December)

As they said in the launch video and it's on the SCS blog, this truck was launched in a hurry to celebrate Kenworth's centenary, the 100 year old truck only has one finish option so there's no way to customize it, but soon the Normal T680 line with customization options.
I don't get how it was "rushed" since work on this truck started a year ago, I guess they stopped working and came back to it and rushed it. I would of preferred them finishing the truck completely than rushing.
@@Manny13840it's because Kenworth gave them a deadline. They have to sell trucks and ATS is a major part of their advertising campaign.

No problem for me here, I just wanted the truck itself 😍 I don't mind waiting longer for more options, they are just doing what they pretty much what they did with Western Star 49x with its release with minor options to it. The fact I can drive this truck now is enough ❤️

Guys, I think it's more likely that next year there will be a choice of cabin, chassis, gear and engine. People who asked for a rework of the peterblit 389 and the new generation of peterblit 579 be patient as it is more likely to appear next year
I think down the line they would released customizing later on in 2024. I have a feel that there is more in the pipe lines that they lead on. I would love to see more new trailer companies and truck rims in the game. And custom parts for the cascadia, because I'm working on my big project for my 2022 frieghtliner cascadia

Well we have a new truck , it's not perfect, but is a new truck , they needed to fulfill the agreement with Kenworth, so that's why it had to be done in a hurry

Because the blog post said that for the first time a special version is 100 years of Kenworth and the remaining parts will be delivered over time

I guess the most complicated part of modelling a truck is making all of the modifications (compatibilities, duplicate models,...) If they were on a hurry, it's normal to release it without modifications. And maybe in the future they will come. Anyway, I prefer more models with limited modifications rather than a few ones with lots of them.
Not having customization isn't an issue, because we know they'll eventually add it into the game, the truck was done, and pretty much ready for release just not the customization options. They wanted to release it for Kenworth 100 anniversary. Im just glad we have another truck in the game, here's hoping they'll add a lot more.

My only issue is that it's a level 25 truck. I restarted my profile recently (only level 10), so I won't be seeing this outside of quick jobs.

This is my favorite truck and I am thrilled it's in the game, but at the same time I am disappointed they brought it out unfinished. I would of preferred them releasing it with the full stuff.

They made sure we had a new truck before the end of the year. SCS isn't done with it by far. They will be making customizations available in the future.

I find it weird that they released the special edition of the new t680 and not the base model. but it's still really cool truck, I hate that they did that... I wish they did both special and base model.
they will, soon after some months. They just want to get this 100th anniversary special out in this year because 2023 is the 100th anniversary...

Truck is nice and fun, it’s ok there’s no customization on it yet. Wish it had chrome grills and trim, but that’s an issue with KW and this trend of blacking out things, it’s horrid.

I don't mind the lack of cosmetic customizations but I find the engine to be underperforming, also I want 6/7 speed quick gearbox with retarder.
They will come along with the rest of engine, transmission and customisation options.
im ok with no customization i just glad we got a new truck awesome/ok.
I like the SCS T680 Next Gen, but I don't like the way they rolled it out. It seems rushed. It was released as a DLC and is not a standard in-game truck. Can't use any engine or transmission mods with it. With 950 game play hours, I refuse to use any SCS engine or transmission at this point. So, at the moment, although I like the truck, I won't use it.
Once they release the full truck there will be much more engine and transmission options will come and it will be supported by engine sound mods. They rushed it because it was Kenworth's 100th anniversary in 2023.

The Paccar engine has a maximum of 510 HP. Plus America doesn't need 770HP because there is mainly just highways with little to no steep inclines
