Sisters Traverse - May 31, 2016 - Sisters Wilderness, OR

Completed the Sisters Marathon from Pole Creek to Devils Lake. We ascended the South side of the North Sister and then continued South, summiting Middle and South Sister along the way.
Great skiing on North Sister. It got progressively worse and warm day progressed.
Party consisted of David Marchi and Ben McKinley. Long time ski and climbing friends. This was the first time either of us had attempted this route.

Very cool. I want to try to hike this next fall. Did you take the main route to summit North? I thought it was from the North side but i could be wrong.

Matt.Cook.Oregon we cruised up the south face to the ridge below the summit. While not the true summit, it allowed us the ability to travel lighter and faster sans climbing gear. Have fun. Epic route!

Yeah that would have required added weight of rope and protection. This fast and light approach worked out pretty well.

I want to hike all 3 in 1 day (no skiing) what do you think the time frame and level of difficultly?

Totally depends on rate of movement. We took the least technical route on N. Sis (up and down the south face) and did not summit, which requires rope and gear for most. We took a somewhat exposed direct route up the N. Face of South Sister. You can wrap around the west side to more casual ridge, but it adds mileage/time. Its been done as fast and 6:41. Maybe give yourself 2 to 3x that if you're hiking more than running. Does that help?
