This short, solo acoustic piece was featured on Genesis’ 1972 album Foxtrot. It opens with some harmonics before weaving into a semi-classical sound, borrowing a bit from Bach and a bit from Fernando Sor. Steve Hackett uses a few unusual techniques with his right hand, which are covered in the lesson along with our typical, highly detailed descriptions and explanations.

I remember when I saw GTR in 1986 or thereabouts, Steve Howe played Mood for a Day as one of his solo pieces and Steve Hackett played this.

Are there*. Some of Tony Iommi's solo pieces are similar in that he shines alone with a bit of a classical sound.

Dude, what you said about Mood For a Day and Dee is the exact same thing I thought when I first heard this song today. Is there any other songs that fit that awesome category?

Hi there, I play in a progressive rock band and we are looking to audition a lead guitarist. We write very original music that does not look to imitate previous progressive bands, and has a very individual sound and style.
The band has management in place, and is preparing for a tour of the USA, and it is likely to be signed by a major record label in the near future.
It is important that the applicant meets the following criteria:
    Male
    Accomplished lead guitarist
Versatile performance skills - proficient at performing in a variety of styles
    Singing skills (for backing vocals)
Good teamwork, communication, and organisation qualities.
To apply, please send a description of yourself that can include your experience, aspirations and detail your skills as a musician. Please also include a video recording or youtube link that clearly demonstrates your abilities as a lead guitarist.
The deadline for receiving applications is Wednesday 5th November.
If you have any questions, wish to listen to any of our music, or find out more about the band, please feel free to contact me at show contact info
    Many thanks,
    Rod Mayes
