    Dude, I love some novablast 2 and 3, but I've never heard of anyone doing low 5's in them, not even close to that pace, but glad to see they are capable though.

      @mottesen_runs  9 місяців тому +1

      Yeah they are pretty fast for a trainer! I did some mid 4:40s on the track last week with the 2s as well. Definitely a capable shoe!

      But I should point out that it’s not my shoe of choice for workouts at all. It’s a great daily mileage trainer. I’m usually in some kind of super shoe for fast stuff

      @@mottesen_runsI also like the novablast 3 for daily training. What supershoe do you wear for workouts?

    Maybe it’s the flexibility of your legs and tendons that’s causing the lockups. Have you tried yoga or extensive stretching?

      Interesting thought. I haven’t explored that much, I’ll look into it! One thing that’s promising is that this race was MUCH better than previous ones, so something is working

      also running laps kinda sucks at least in my opinion. A different course maybe would suit you better.@@mottesen_runs

    How many miles a week do you run? Everyone I've known who experiences this type of cramping issue just wasn't doing enough weekly mileage to support the goal pace over the marathon distance.

    • @mottesen_runs
      @mottesen_runs  9 місяців тому +4

      I wish it was that simple… I averaged around 110 miles per week for the 8 weeks leading up, peaking at 120. Which is common mileage for guys running 2:10, I’m only trying to run 2:16. So I don’t think that’s the problem, but maybe I need more 🤷‍♂️

    Is it safe to do an all-out marathon every 1.5 to 2 months? Will you even be able to perform come trials? Won’t you be going into trials hella fatigued and unable to shave another 10mins off your PR?

    • @mottesen_runs
      @mottesen_runs  9 місяців тому +6

      Very valid question! It’s unusual to run this many marathons. I don’t want this to come off the wrong way, but im not worried about it for a couple reasons.
      1. My cramping has inhibited my ability to run as fast as my fitness is ready for. Overall this 2:18 wasn’t too bad aerobically, but the cramping was really painful and seriously hurt my time.
      2. I don’t have a choice if I want to make the trials and run them;) so im gonna do it even if I won’t be at my best

    do you coach runners?

    • @mottesen_runs
      @mottesen_runs  9 місяців тому +1

      I had started… but I’ve decided I don’t quite have the bandwidth at the moment to take on coaching how I would like. But I hope to in the future!
